Book excerpt: A novella companion to the bestselling Delta Force series In Dalton Fury's All Lines Black, Syrian militant leader Abu Hamam al-Suri wants to defect from ISIS—an action which will in all likelihood bring about the end of the insurgency. He just wants one thing first. The head of the American commando who killed his son in a raid two years ago. Newly-appointed Secretary of State Bill Mason isn’t above sacrificing American lives to satisfy his ambition, so when al-Suri’s back-channeled demand falls in his lap, he senses an opportunity to settle the score with his old nemesis, Delta Force squadron commander Kolt “Racer” Raynor. When Raynor gets the order to lead a mission into Syria to bag the new ISIS money man, his gut tells him something is fishy, especially since he has been ordered to personally lead the mission. Raynor doesn’t mind leading from the front. In fact, he prefers it. But as soon as the assault team is on the ground, Kolt knows his gut instinct was dead on. The mission is a setup, an ambush intended to take out Raynor and his men. Now Raynor has a new mission: Find out who set him up and why. But to do that, Raynor and the Delta team will have to run the gauntlet—an entire city controlled by enemy fighters.

Book Tables of Spectral Lines of Neutral and Ionized Atoms

Download or read book Tables of Spectral Lines of Neutral and Ionized Atoms written by A. R. Striganov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 906 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tables of Spectral Lines of Neutral and Ionized Atoms was first published in Moscow in 1966. All misprints and errors that have come to our attention have been corrected, and additions based on journal articles have been made for the Plenum Press edition. In particular, additions have been made in the tables for Li (4], C I [1], N I (1], N IV [12], and N V [14]. Such highly important spectra as those of N IV, NV, 0 IV, 0 V, and 0 VI in the visible and partially in the ultraviolet regions have, until recently, re ceived almost no attention in the laboratory. The tables of these spectra in clude astrophysical data from B. Edlen (Z. Astrophys. , 7:378, 1933) and C. E. Moore (A Multiplet Table of Astrophysical Interest, Part I, N. B. S. , 1945) with rather rough estimates of the wavelengths of the spectral lines. But as the spectra of highly ionized atoms have been studied in the laboratory, these values have been determined more precisely, and we have striven to incorporate them in the American edition of the book. For the spectra of N IV and NV, we have employed the recent, comprehensive papers of R. Hallin (Arkiv for Fysik, 32:201, 1966; 31:511, 1966), in which the system of energy levels was refined and expanded, and many classified lines in the visible, ordinary ultra violet, and vacuum ultraviolet regions are cited.

Book An Introduction to Discourse Analysis

Download or read book An Introduction to Discourse Analysis written by James Paul Gee and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-03 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discourse analysis considers how language, both spoken and written, enacts social and cultural perspectives and identities. Assuming no prior knowledge of linguistics, An Introduction to Discourse Analysis examines the field and presents James Paul Gee’s unique integrated approach which incorporates both a theory of language-in-use and a method of research. An Introduction to Discourse Analysis can be used as a stand-alone textbook or ideally used in conjunction with the practical companion title How to do Discourse Analysis: A Toolkit. Together they provide the complete resource for students studying discourse analysis. Updated throughout, the fourth edition of this seminal textbook also includes two new chapters: ‘What is Discourse?’ to further understanding of the topic, as well as a new concluding section. A new companion website www.routledge.com/cw/gee features a frequently asked questions section, additional tasks to support understanding, a glossary and free access to journal articles by James Paul Gee. Clearly structured and written in a highly accessible style, An Introduction to Discourse Analysis includes perspectives from a variety of approaches and disciplines, including applied linguistics, education, psychology, anthropology and communication to help students and scholars from a range of backgrounds to formulate their own views on discourse and engage in their own discourse analysis. This is an essential textbook for all advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students of discourse analysis.

Book Graph Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science

Book Generalized Functions Volume 5

Download or read book Generalized Functions Volume 5 written by I. M. Gel′fand and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2016-04-19 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first systematic theory of generalized functions (also known as distributions) was created in the early 1950s, although some aspects were developed much earlier, most notably in the definition of the Green's function in mathematics and in the work of Paul Dirac on quantum electrodynamics in physics. The six-volume collection, Generalized Functions, written by I. M. Gel′fand and co-authors and published in Russian between 1958 and 1966, gives an introduction to generalized functions and presents various applications to analysis, PDE, stochastic processes, and representation theory. The unifying idea of Volume 5 in the series is the application of the theory of generalized functions developed in earlier volumes to problems of integral geometry, to representations of Lie groups, specifically of the Lorentz group, and to harmonic analysis on corresponding homogeneous spaces. The book is written with great clarity and requires little in the way of special previous knowledge of either group representation theory or integral geometry; it is also independent of the earlier volumes in the series. The exposition starts with the definition, properties, and main results related to the classical Radon transform, passing to integral geometry in complex space, representations of the group of complex unimodular matrices of second order, and harmonic analysis on this group and on most important homogeneous spaces related to this group. The volume ends with the study of representations of the group of real unimodular matrices of order two.
