It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the iconic music and songs Elvis sang and recorded for his bestselling holiday albums, alongside favorite stories, trivia, and Yuletide cocktails and munchies—all wrapped up with a merry Christmas twist fit for the King of Rock ’n’ Roll. After one of her sisters was taken away in a little basket, she devised her plan of action. Finally, the day arrived when she would go to her forever home and embark on a whole new set of adventures. Her mind was always racing, and she began deciphering all of life's situations. A quick learner, she immediately started noting what merited treats. She decided that life is always better with treats-and a lap to cozy into. She was a handful when she was young, mischievous throughout most of her life, happy with the simplest gesture of affection, and maybe too smart for her own good. This is her tale of life, love, and challenges-challenges that almost claimed her life too soon. She has put paw to paper to share her life lessons in hopes that everyone can put what really matters into perspective.

Book excerpt: "John Godber is one of the unsung heroes of British theatre, reaching the giddy heights of number three in the most-performed playwrights league table, nestled in behind Shakespeare and Ayckbourn" - Guardian Teechers: "In a class of its own ... Godber takes a hard-hitting look at life in a modern comprehensive where class conflicts, teacher tantrums and cavorting chaos runs riot through the corridors" The Express Happy Jack: "Godber manages with an affectionate and unerringly accurate ear for the tongues of the pit village to turn these two into a Chaucerian kind of celebration of life. At the end of the line the play is a sad, bruised but richly comic love story" Guardian September in the Rain: "The work of a genuinely talented playwright" Evening Standard Salt of the Earth: "John Godber has a special gift for capturing the lives and inner turmoil of the working class ... In the most subtle and incisive ways, he suggests how the combination of innate personality and a changing society determines individual destiny" Chicago Times

Download or read book Life Drawing written by Nancy Myers Leiserowitz and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2024-02-12 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book This memoir is composed of letters sent between a mother living on a farm in Nebraska and her daughter, away from home as she pursued degrees in Nursing, English and Art (sculpture). Separated by five hundred miles, they began a weekly exchange of letters — a dialogue they maintained until the mother died. The education of the artist occurred during tumultuous times (the 1960s), and was in distinct contrast with her mother’s life. The letters share an intense interest in history, Jungian psychology, philosophy, Eastern religions, and Zen Buddhism. They describe the development and training of a sculptor as well as the divergence of lives between generations as the mother and artist-daughter interpret the realities of a world in flux and accelerating around them. The parents are magnanimous in support of the daughter despite their own hardships and political differences with her. They remain steadfast in their love for each other, family and the land to which they are rooted. About the Author Nancy Myers Leiserowitz was born and raised in Nebraska. Holding both a bachelor’s degree in English and a master of fine arts degree in Sculpture, Leiserowitz has enjoyed a career as a registered nurse, artist and teacher. She has taught sculpture, drawing and Renaissance art history at Connecticut College for Women, Michigan State University and Lansing Community College. Leiserowitz is also a founding member of Hospice of Lansing and volunteers with Women’s Action for Nuclear Disarmament and the Big Brother/Big Sister program.
