As the days went by, another event changed the happy life they had hoped for. Aliyah found out that it all just started with betting. Betting between Ruzzel and his friends. A bet wherein if Ruzzel were to be questioned, would be a big mistake. He really loved Aliyah and he didn�t think of anything he could get when she answered him. But the question is, is Aliyah willing to believe him? Is she ready to give him another chance to correct a wrong start?

Book excerpt: The works of Hannah Arendt and Albert Camus--two of the most compelling political thinkers of the "resistance generation" that lived through World War II--can still provide penetrating insights for contemporary political reflection. Jeffrey C. Isaac offers new interpretations of these writers, viewing both as engaged intellectuals who grappled with the possibilities of political radicalism in a world in which liberalism and Marxism had revealed their inadequacy by being complicit in the rise of totalitarianism. According to Isaac, self-styled postmodern writers who proclaim the death of grandiose ideologies often fail to recognize that such thinkers as Camus and Arendt had already noted this. But unlike many postmodernists, these two sought to preserve what was worthy in modern humanism--the idea of a common human condition and a commitment to human rights and the dignity of individuals. Isaac shows that both writers advanced the idea of a democratic civil society made up of self-limiting groups. Although they criticized the typical institutions of mass democratic politics, they endorsed alternative forms of local and international organization that defy the principle of state sovereignty. Isaac also shows how Arendt's writings on the Middle East, and Camus's on Algeria, urged the creation of such institutions. The vision of a "rebellious politics" that Arendt and Camus shared is of great relevance to current debates in democratic theory and to the transformations taking place in Europe and the states of the former Soviet Union.

The Army wants to reclassify unfit for combat, so she accepts the prime minister's offer to make her an Israeli soldier. During a combat jump with the IDF, her chute doesn't open but two arms enfold her and lower her to the ground. Major Michael was along as an observer. She's convinced he unfolded his wings to save her, but he says he had a maneuverable parachute that let him catch her. Although unconvinced, it is the least of her problems. He proposes to her. Can she marry a man when something is left of the male brain in her? Much less marry an archangel?

This, together with the author's luminous prose, make My City of Dreams an important landmark in 21st century testimony of the Holocaust.

Prof. Aria Nakissa, Ph.D. from Harvard University. The proceeding consisted of 41 accepted papers from the total of 81 submission papers. The proceeding consisted of 6 main areas of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies. They are: Islam and medicine, Islam and Science and Technology, Islam and Psychology, Islam and Education, Quran and Hadits, and Islamic Studies with other various aspects. All papers have been scrutinized by a panel of reviewers who provide critical comments and corrections, and thereafter contributed to the improvement of the quality of the papers. Research in Islamic studies and Muslim societies today also increasingly uses interdisciplinary methods and approaches. In order to produce more objective findings, the researchers looked at the need to combine several methods or approaches to an object of study, so that they had additional considerations needed. These additional considerations add a more comprehensive perspective. In this way, in turn they can come up with better findings. Interdisciplinary Islamic studies dispute that Islam is monolithic, militaristic, and primarily Middle Eastern. We strongly believe that ICIIS conference has become a good forum for all researcher, developers, practitioners, scholars, policy makers, especially post graduate students to discuss their understandings of current processes and findings, as well as to look at possibilities for setting-up new trends in SDG and Islamic Interdisciplinary Studies. We also expect that the future ICIIS conference will be as successful and stimulating, as indicated by the contributions presented in this volume.
