Book excerpt: The present study aimed at identifying the level of alienation among secondary school students in the city of Hebron, and also aimed to identify the effects of some variables on the level of alienation. The fact of alienation has become aggravated in our contemporary world, in the materials and ineluctable domains of human life. This present study addressed the issues of alienation as a multi-dimensional phenomena, which theoretical and empirical research has dealt with. Accordingly, alienation is procedurally defined by three dimensions which are: the feeling of anomie, the feeling of social isolation and the feeling of meaninglessness. The significance of this study stems from the fact that it tackles a new and important concern in the city of Hebron which lives in a state of suffocation and instability due to the spread of Israeli settlements around the city. In order to highlight the questions of the study and to verify its hypotheses, the researcher developed a questionnaire which examined the prevalence level of alienation among secondary school students in the city of Hebron. The sample of the study was (193) students, that were chosen by the stratified random sample. The ratio of the used sample was (10%) of the study population. After collecting the data, it was analyzed by using the statistical package for social science (SPSS). The study revealed the following results: there were a moderate feeling of alienation among the students. The study indicated that there were a different dimension of alienation whereby the meaning lessens represents the dimension which causes the most suffering among the students. Significant differences in the level of alienation were found due to the gender, cumulative average, place of residence and the location of the school in the city. Also there were no significant differences in the level of alienation due to other variables.
