Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Le suivi d’objet dans les séquences d’images est un axe de recherche assez développé dans le domaine de la vision artificielle. Il peut être vu comme un processus composé de deux phases : la phase d'initialisation ou de segmentation dans laquelle nous définissons dans l'image l'objet à suivre, et la phase de suivi pendant laquelle nous recherchons l'objet dans les images successives.Quatre approches de suivi d’objet ont été étudiées et implémentées, puis optimisées par rapport à leurs versions trouvées classiquement dans la littérature. La première approche concerne la méthode des courbes de niveau, abordée autant comme approche de segmentation que de suivi. La deuxième approche permet de se placer dans un cadre bayésien et de formuler le suivi de manière probabiliste grâce à un filtrage particulaire. Dans la troisième approche, l'algorithme de CamShift est appliqué sur l’image avec un modèle de l’objet à suivre construit sur deux canaux de couleur au lieu des trois plus généralement utilisés. Enfin une quatrième approche combinant une mise en correspondance de points d’intérêt et l'algorithme de CamShift a été développée pour un fonctionnement dans des séquences d’images en niveaux de gris.Une évaluation de chaque approche sur quelques séquences d’images est menée afin d’explorer l'évolution d'un ensemble de mesures de performance avec des variations de paramètres. Un bilan comparatif a ensuite été réalisé afin de définir les avantages, inconvénients et conditions d’utilisation de chaque approche.Le cadre applicatif de ces travaux est le suivi d’un unique objet sans connaissance a priori ni phase d’apprentissage dans une séquence d’images en niveaux de gris en vue d’une implantation avec fonctionnement en temps réel sur un système embarqué.

La vision binoculaire constitue l'une des méthodes les plus utilisées dans ce domaine. Il s'agit de retrouver la géométrie spatiale d'une scène à partir de deux images prises sous des angles différents. Une des principales difficultés de cette méthode est la mise en correspondance d'indices visuels extraits des images stéréoscopiques. Les techniques séquentielles ou multi-résolutions ayant montré leurs limites, nous présentons dans cette thèse une approche globale pour la mise en correspondance de primitives de type point de contour. Dans cette approche l'appariement stéréoscopique est considéré comme un problème d'optimisation dont la résolution est basée sur les concepts de calcul génétique. Grâce à un codage spécifique, une fonction d'évaluation des solutions (fonction fitness) est construite à partir des contraintes stéréoscopiques. Un algorithme génétique est ensuite mis en oeuvre pour explorer l'espaces des solutions, à partir d'une population initiale de solutions et par application des opérations de sélection, de croisement et de mutation. Afin de réduire la complexité du problème de mise en correspondance, nous proposons une stratégie hiérarchique de recherche des appariements. L'évaluation de nos algorithmes de mise en correspondance, appliqués sur de nombreuses images stéréoscopiques, montre l'intérêt de notre approche pour la reconstruction 3D d'une scène. L'implémentation des procédures développées sur des structures parallèles spécifiques pennettraient d'améliorer les temps d'exécutions et d'envisager une exploitation effective du procédé.

This book contains English translations of almost all the Galois material. The translations are presented alongside a new transcription of the original French and are enhanced by three levels of commentary. An introduction explains the context of Galois' work, the various publications in which it appears, and the vagaries of his manuscripts. Then there is a chapter in which the five mathematical articles published in his lifetime are reprinted. After that come the testamentary letter and the first memoir (in which Galois expounded on the ideas that led to Galois Theory), which are the most famous of the manuscripts. These are followed by the second memoir and other lesser known manuscripts. This book makes available to a wide mathematical and historical readership some of the most exciting mathematics of the first half of the nineteenth century, presented in its original form. The primary aim is to establish a text of what Galois wrote. The details of what he did, the proper evidence of his genius, deserve to be well understood and appreciated by mathematicians as well as historians of mathematics.
