Book Aircraft Landing Control Using the H inf Control and the Dynamic Inversion Technique

Download or read book Aircraft Landing Control Using the H inf Control and the Dynamic Inversion Technique written by Romulus Lungu and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chapter presents the automatic control of aircraft during landing, taking into account the sensor errors and the wind shears. Both planes-longitudinal and lateral-directional-are treated; the new obtained automatic landing system (ALS) will consists of two subsystems-the first one controls aircraft motion in longitudinal plane, while the second one is for the control of aircraft motion in lateral-directional plane. These two systems can be treated separately, but in the same time, these can be put together to control all the parameters which interfere in the dynamics of aircraft landing. The two new ALSs are designed by using the H-inf control, the dynamic inversion, optimal observers, and reference models. To validate the new obtained ALS, one uses the dynamics associated to the landing of a Boeing 747, software implements the theoretical results and analyzes the accuracy of the results and the precision standards' achievement with respect to the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Book Automation and Control Trends

Download or read book Automation and Control Trends written by Pedro Ponce and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-10-12 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an overview of the different paths automation and control engineering have taken lately, from a modern point of view. Built up with example chapters, this book provides some insight into the use of artificial intelligence and control theory on manufacturing, comfort analysis, reliability of modern digital systems, and the use of unusual reference and feedback signals as those coming from the brain. Nonetheless, some chapters are also devoted to a more traditional point of view of control theory, addressing complex problems where human intervention must be limited. Overall, this book is an effort to show that modern automation and control engineering are comprised by many diverse areas, which should interact in order to provide a complete result. In this way, as the systems become more complex and the control objectives more subjective, both, formal analytic and intelligent approaches, should be seen as complementary tools, not unrelated competitors. This books aim is precisely that of showing how broad and diverse the control objectives have become and how the abilities of the control engineer should be extended.

Book Automatic Landing Control Using H infinity Control and Stable Inversion

Download or read book Automatic Landing Control Using H infinity Control and Stable Inversion written by Jun Che and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of an automatic landing system (ALS) is a challenging task. It is both a robust and a tracking control problem. In this thesis, a method combining H[Infinity] robust control and stable inversion is employed to develop controllers for an automatic landing system. We adopt the linearized longitudinal model of a Boeing 747 commercial airplane to verify this method. The control actuators, wind gust, and wind shear models are also established to simulate the landing process. H[Infinity] control is a robust control method. It can optimize the system performance and provide robust stability against uncertainties in the plant. The stable inversion is a precision tracking approach. We combine these two methods together to satisfy both robust and exact tracking requirements for the automatic landing system. Based on the stable inversion technique, the desired altitude and airspeed trajectories are also designed. The numerical simulation results show that the automatic landing system can meet FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) requirements for Category III precision approach landing. As expected, the integrated system can achieve accurate tracking, in the presence of measurement noise, wind gust, and wind shear with low intensity. Compared with existing approaches in automatic landing systems, the method used in this thesis can achieve higher precision. Finally, this method is particularly well suited for automatic landing systems using Global Positioning System.

Book Aircraft Control Using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion in Conjunction with Adaptive Robust Control

Download or read book Aircraft Control Using Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion in Conjunction with Adaptive Robust Control written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis describes the implementation of Yao's adaptive robust control to an aircraft control system. This control law is implemented as a means to maintain stability and tracking performance of the aircraft in the face of failures and changing aerodynamic response. The control methodology is implemented as an outer loop controller to an aircraft under nonlinear dynamic inversion control. The adaptive robust control methodology combines the robustness of sliding mode control to all types of uncertainty with the ability of adaptive control to remove steady state errors. A performance measure is developed in to reflect more subjective qualities a pilot would look for while flying an aircraft. Using this measure, comparisons of the adaptive robust control technique with the sliding mode and adaptive control methodologies are made for various failure conditions. Each control methodology is implemented on a full envelope, high fidelity simulation of the F-15 IFCS aircraft as well as on a lower fidelity full envelope F-5A simulation. Adaptive robust control is found to exhibit the best performance in terms of the introduced measure for several different failure types and amplitudes.

Book A Generic Inner Loop Control Law Structure for Six Degree Of Freedom Conceptual Aircraft Design

Download or read book A Generic Inner Loop Control Law Structure for Six Degree Of Freedom Conceptual Aircraft Design written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-29 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A generic control system framework for both real-time and batch six-degree-of-freedom simulations is presented. This framework uses a simplified dynamic inversion technique to allow for stabilization and control of any type of aircraft at the pilot interface level. The simulation, designed primarily for the real-time simulation environment, also can be run in a batch mode through a simple guidance interface. Direct vehicle-state acceleration feedback is required with the simplified dynamic inversion technique. The estimation of surface effectiveness within real-time simulation timing constraints also is required. The generic framework provides easily modifiable control variables, allowing flexibility in the variables that the pilot commands. A direct control allocation scheme is used to command aircraft effectors. Primary uses for this system include conceptual and preliminary design of aircraft, when vehicle models are rapidly changing and knowledge of vehicle six-degree-of-freedom performance is required. A simulated airbreathing hypersonic vehicle and simulated high-performance fighter aircraft are used to demonstrate the flexibility and utility of the control system.Cox, Timothy H. and Cotting, M. Book Applications of Fuzzy Techniques

Download or read book Applications of Fuzzy Techniques written by Scott Dick and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-09-29 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is of interest to practitioners, researchers and graduate students seeking to apply existing techniques, to learn about the state of the art, or to explore novel concepts, in the theory and application of fuzzy sets and logic. Human knowledge and judgement are essential in both designing technological systems and in evaluating their outcomes. However, humans think and communicate in imprecise concepts, not numbers. Fuzzy sets and logic are well-known, widely used approaches to bridging this gap, which have been studied for nearly 60 years. NAFIPS 2022 brought together researchers studying both the theoretical foundations of fuzzy logic and its application to real-world problems. Their work examined fuzzy solutions to problems as diverse as astronomy, chemical engineering, economics, energy engineering, health care, and transportation engineering. Many papers combined fuzzy logic with interval or probabilistic computing, neural networks, and genetic algorithms.
