Download or read book Airborne Maritime Surveillance Radar written by Simon Watts and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2018-08-14 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, air-to-surface vessel (ASV) radars, or more generally airborne maritime surveillance radars, are installed on maritime reconnaissance aircraft for long-range detection, tracking and classification of surface ships (ASuW—anti-surface warfare) and for hunting submarines (ASW—anti-submarine warfare). Such radars were first developed in the UK during WWII as part of the response to the threat to shipping from German U boats. This book describes the ASV radars developed in the UK and used by RAF Coastal Command during WWII for long-range maritime surveillance.

Download or read book Future Maritime Surveillance written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Defence Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2012-09-19 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Committee has serious concerns following the decision in the 2010 Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) to cancel the Nimrod MRA4 maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) programme. Although the MoD's own capability investigations have concluded that a MPA is the solution to the UK's maritime surveillance requirements over the next 20 years, the MoD has postponed any decision on a further MPA until at least the next SDSR in 2015. The MoD has acknowledged that the resultant capability gap cannot be completely covered by an existing single asset or collection of assets. The Committee is concerned that the MoD is sending mixed messages in respect of the need for a maritime patrol aircraft. On one hand it says that there is no requirement for such an aircraft and that it is not funded or in the programme but on the other hand it acknowledges that its absence is a risk and something may need to be done. The Committee is also concerned about the withdrawal of other maritime surveillance assets. However the report acknowledges the work the MoD has undertaken to explore the potential options for maritime surveillance in the longer term, such as unmanned systems, lighter-than-air vehicles and space technology. The report welcomes the establishment of the Maritime Security Oversight Group and the National Maritime Information Centre as first steps towards a more strategic and co-ordinated output and as a way of mitigating some of the capability gaps

Download or read book Theoretical Foundations of Radar Location and Radio Navigation written by Denis Alexandrovich Akmaykin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-22 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book represents a study guide reciting theoretical basics of radar location and radio navigation systems of air and sea transport. This is the distinctive feature of this study guide. The study guide states the principal physics of radar location and radio navigation, main measuring methods of proper and relative movement parameters of an object, tactical and technical characteristics of radar location and radio navigation systems, including examining issues on radiofrequency signals detection and its parameters estimation against background and interference of different type, filtering, combined detection and rating of signals, signals resolution and classification. The structural and functioning principles of the current and advanced radar location and radio navigation systems of air and sea transport are represented in the study guide with an adequate completeness. The study guide features the result of years long lecturing on radar location and radio navigation theoretical courses at the Moscow State Technical University of Civil Aviation and G.I.Nevelskiy Maritime State Technical Academy. The study guide is designated for students of radio-engineering specialties in area of air and sea transport. The study guide can be useful for radio engineers working in the field of air and maritime transport, and for graduate students and academic researchers as well.

Download or read book Radar Propagation and Scattering in a Complex Maritime Environment written by Christophe Bourlier and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-07-24 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radar Propagation and Scattering in a Complex Maritime Environment addresses advanced numerical techniques used to significantly reduce the complexity and memory requirement for solving the linear system that results from the discretization of the boundary integral equations by the Method of Moments (MoM). Typically, the problem of the VHF wave scattering from an object above a rough sea surface in a ducting environment is investigated as is the HF radar propagation above the Earth in the presence of islands. Along with these topics, the book also covers rapid asymptotic theories, which are derived and compared with references methods based on the MoM. - Presents tactics on scattering from both rough surfaces and near a rough surface - Discusses radar propagation in ducting environments - Includes numerical techniques to accelerate MoM

Download or read book Radar System Analysis and Modeling written by David K. Barton and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2004-10-01 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thorough update to the Artech House classic Modern Radar Systems Analysis, this reference is a comprehensive and cohesive introduction to radar systems design and performance estimation. It offers you the knowledge you need to specify, evaluate, or apply radar technology in civilian or military systems. The book presents accurate detection range equations that let you realistically estimate radar performance in a variety of practical situations. With its clear, easy-to-understand language, you quickly learn the tradeoffs between choice of wavelength and radar performance and see the inherent advantages and limitations associated with each radar band. You find modeling procedures to help you analyze enemy systems or evaluate radar integrated into new weapon systems. The book covers ECM and ECCM for both surveillance and tracking to help you estimate the effects of active and passive ECM, select hardware/software for reconnaissance or jamming, and plan the operation of EW systems. As radar systems evolve, this book provides the equations needed to calculate and evaluate the performance of the latest advances in radar technology.
