Book Advances in Enterprise Engineering VII

Download or read book Advances in Enterprise Engineering VII written by Henderik A. Proper and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-18 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the proceedings of the Third Enterprise Engineering Working Conference (EEWC), held in Luxembourg during May 13-14, 2013. EEWC aims at addressing the challenges that modern and complex enterprises are facing in a rapidly changing world. The participants of the working conference share a belief that dealing with these challenges requires rigorous and scientific solutions, focusing on the design and engineering of enterprises. The goal of EEWC is to stimulate interaction between the different stakeholders, scientists as well as practitioners, interested in making enterprise engineering a reality. The eight papers presented at the conference were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. EEWC 2013 had 24 submissions and accepted eight for publication. The topics of the presented papers allowed for active participation in interesting discussions and exchange of ideas and stimulated future cooperation among the participants. This made EEWC a real “working conference” contributing to the further development of enterprise engineering as a mature discipline. The topics covered include value orientation, enterprise change, and engineering requirements and entropy issues.

Book Advances in Enterprise Engineering II

Download or read book Advances in Enterprise Engineering II written by Erik Proper and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-08 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: the virtually unlimited possibilities of modern information and communication technology. Future enterprises will therefore have to operate in an ever more dynamic and global environment. They need to be more agile, more adaptive, and more transparent. In addition, they will be held more publicly accountable for every e?ect they produce. These challenges are traditionally addressed by black-box thinking-based knowledge, i.e., knowledge concerning the function and the behavior of ent- prises, as contained in the organizational sciences. Such knowledge is su?cient, and perfectly adequate, for managing an enterprise (within the range of c- trol). However, it is de?nitely inadequate for changing an enterprise. In order to bring about changes, white-box-based knowledge is needed, i.e., knowledge concerning the construction and the operation of enterprises. Developing and applying such knowledge requires no less than a paradigm shift in our thi- ing about enterprises, since the organizational sciences are dominantly oriented toward organizational behavior, based on black-box thinking.

Book Enterprise Interoperability VII

Download or read book Enterprise Interoperability VII written by Kai Mertins and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-18 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A concise reference to the state of the art in systems interoperability, Enterprise Interoperability VII will be of great value to engineers and computer scientists working in manufacturing and other process industries and to software engineers and electronic and manufacturing engineers working in the academic environment. Furthermore, it shows how knowledge of the meaning within information and the use to which it will be put have to be held in common between enterprises for consistent and efficient inter-enterprise networks. Over 30 papers, ranging from academic research through case studies to industrial and administrative experience of interoperability show how, in a scenario of globalised markets, where the capacity to cooperate with other organizations efficiently is essential in order to remain economically, socially and environmentally cost-effective, the most innovative digitized and networked enterprises ensure that their systems and applications are able to interoperate across heterogeneous collaborative networks of independent organizations. This goal of interoperability is essential, not only from the perspective of the individual enterprise but also in the business structures that are now emerging, such as complex collaborating networks of suppliers and customers, virtual enterprises, interconnected organisations or extended enterprises, as well as in mergers and acquisitions. Establishing efficient and relevant collaborative situations requires the management of interoperability from a dynamic point of view: a relevant and efficient collaboration of organizations may require adaptation to remain in line with changing objectives, evolving resources, unexpected events, etc. Many of the papers contained in this, the eighth volume of Proceedings of the I-ESA Conferences have examples and illustrations calculated to deepen understanding and generate new ideas. The I-ESA’16 Conference from which this book is drawn was organized by the Escola de Engenharia da Universidade do Minho, on behalf of the European Virtual Laboratory for Enterprise Interoperability (INTEROP-VLab) and Interop VLab Portuguese Pole.

To this end, many professional colleagues or long-time companions both from the Institute of Information Management at the University of St. Gallen as well as from the international research community dedicated articles on topics related to Robert’s research. They reflect his ambition to uncompromisingly conduct high-class research that fuels the research community and at the same time contributes to improved industrial practice. The book is organized in three major parts: Part I “Business Engineering and Beyond” focuses on the methodology strongly shaped by Robert in St. Gallen with a focus on research being applied in corporate contexts. Part II “Design Science Research” spans from reflections on the practice of design science research to perspectives on design science research methodologies and eventually up to considerations to teach design science research methodology. Part III “Applied Fields” combines various applications of design science and related research methodologies with practical problems and future research topics.

Book Advanced Digital Architectures for Model Driven Adaptive Enterprises

Download or read book Advanced Digital Architectures for Model Driven Adaptive Enterprises written by Kulkarni, Vinay and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-04-03 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
