Book Advanced Spaceborne Dosimetry Instrumentation

Download or read book Advanced Spaceborne Dosimetry Instrumentation written by Marion F. Schneider and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the complete results of two years of effort by the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Biophysics Branch, in the field of space-radiation dosimetry. Three specific dosimetry systems, the Gemini type, the Air Force satellite type, and the manned space systems survey meter, are discussed in detail, and one experimental chamber design employing a gas-multiplication technique is fully explored. Electrical and mechanical diagrams of each system developed through this effort are presented along with illustrated details of dosimeter assembly, testing, and calibration. A complete survey of the theoretical background utilized in the design and testing effort is presented. A considerable amount of experimental data, much of it collected in testing before the Gemini 4 mission and during the flight of the spacecraft, is displayed. (Author).

Download or read book Radiation Dosimetry Instrumentation and Methods written by Gad Shani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-28 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiation dosimetry has made great progress in the last decade, mainly because radiation therapy is much more widely used. Since the first edition, many new developments have been made in the basic methods for dosimetry, i.e. ionization chambers, TLD, chemical dosimeters, and photographic films. Radiation Dosimetry: Instrumentation and Methods, Second Edition brings to the reader these latest developments. Written at a high level for medical physicists, engineers, and advanced dosimetrists, it concentrates only on evolvement during the last decade, relying on the first edition to provide the basics.

Book An Active Dosimeter System to Measure Energy Deposition and Charged Particle Spectra of High Energy Inner Van Allen Belt Solar Flare and Galactic Cosmic Protons on Manned Spacecraft

Download or read book An Active Dosimeter System to Measure Energy Deposition and Charged Particle Spectra of High Energy Inner Van Allen Belt Solar Flare and Galactic Cosmic Protons on Manned Spacecraft written by Marion F. Schneider and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced active dosimetry instrumentation to measure absorbed dose, charged particle spectra, and linear energy transfer spectra inside a manned spacecraft has been designed and tested. This system employs a tissue equivalent Bragg-Gray ionization chamber and silicon solid state detectors in a single small lightweight, rugged, and man-space qualified unit. The instrument measures dose rates from 0.2 millirad/hour to 25 rad/hour, linear energy transfer spectra from 3.5 to 42.4 Kev/micron, and proton and alpha particle energy spectra from 0.5 to 75 Mev. The active dosimeter is equipped with a portable radiation sensor for use in astronaut on-body and spacecraft shield surveys during passage through significant space radiation fields. This report presents the culmination of the first phase of the development of the advanced active dosimeter. It is scheduled for flight test as part of Department of Defense Radiation Effects Experiment D008 on the first Apollo Applications Flight. (Author).
