Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Manas-mind, its vehicle, kāma-desire, and their interplay with other minds through karma-action are hard concepts to grasp without an appreciation that they are a single dynamic trinity, and not three ontologically distinct ideas. In his Science of the Emotions, Bhagavān Dās undertakes a bold and incisive study of the continuum of Desire-Thought-Action, where he demonstrates elegantly and convincingly that “emotions” and “feelings,” mostly mixed and lumped together by the ignoramus, are none other than the workings of this occult triplet. Mastership of the mind’s pendular māyāvic movements, swinging back and forth from the Centre of Being, is prerequisite to success in whatever domain it chooses to focus upon. Dr. Dās identifies the essential nature of Desire, elaborates upon the duality of primordial e-motions and their endless permutations, and proceeds unravelling the aetiology of attitudes and their behavioural implications. His Science sheds light on man’s lower propensities which, if left unchecked, will go on demeaning character and disgracing kith and kin. He instructs, amuses, and enlightens the reader through a series of pithy essays. He even lays bare the distinguishing qualities between confusingly similar emotions, from Devotion and Worship, to Smile and Laughter. The Science of the Emotions remains the definitive text for those seeking knowledge of self and Self.

Book The Sermon on the Mount

Download or read book The Sermon on the Mount written by Gregory M. Lund and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sermon on the Mount serves as Jesus' "Kingdom Manifesto." In it, He declared what His Kingdom is all about and the principles upon which it is based. We have become so familiar with the Sermon on the Mount that we sometimes fail to recognize it for what it is-a most incredible teaching that turned upside down every popular notion people had about what it means to be a part of God's kingdom. In this sermon series, we seek to rediscover the radical nature of Jesus' words and the amazing life to which He calls His kingdom subjects to live. These outlined preaching manuscripts were written and delivered by Gregory Lund. The approach is solidly biblical, and the sermons expositional in nature. This book may be used as a commentary, for sermon preparation, or for group or individual Bible study.

Book The School of Soul Winners and Soul Winning

Download or read book The School of Soul Winners and Soul Winning written by Zacharias Tanee Fomum and published by ZTF Books Online. This book was released on 2016-06-10 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The School of Soul Winners and Soul Winning contains the following books of Professor Zacharias Tanee Fomum: You Can Lead Someone to the Lord Today 36 Reasons for Winning the Lost The Power of the Holy Spirit in the Winning of the Lost Soul Winning Volume 1 Soul Winning Volume 2 Salvation and Soul Winning The Winning of the Lost as Life’s Supreme Task Soul Winning and Disciple-making Victorious Soul Winning Once a person gets saved through repentance unto God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, he is qualified to go straight to heaven. Once he comes to a loving, saving and abiding knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, he is ready to march, with the saints, straight into heaven. The only reason why a saved, sanctified and perfected person is left here on earth after salvation is that he may be a soul winner. We are to daily and desperately win souls as if we won’t have another day again on earth. And you can lead someone to the Lord anytime, anywhere using an array of methods such as sharing your faith, witnessing to Christ, preaching the Gospel, and evangelising publicly or privately. The terrific reasons for winning the lost, and the terrible consequences of not doing so, should push every believer out where the sinners are. If sinners die in their sins without hearing the Gospel, the believer is to blame for it. Their blood is upon him. The only way to free yourself from the blood of all men is through the preaching of the Gospel (Acts 20:26). However, no one can win souls in his own strength. There is need to tap into the power of the Holy Spirit for the winning of the lost. Then the resulting fruit will be lasting and lustrous. This volume presents several rapturous reasons for and benefits to be reaped from obeying the command to soul winning. It is not enough to win souls to Christ and leave them like that. It would be like catching fish from the lake, admiring it, celebrating the catch and then throwing it back into the lake to swim away. Leading a soul to Christ is only the beginning of a process. That process must continue with making a disciple of Christ out of that soul you have won to Christ. It ends when that disciple becomes mature and complete in Christ Jesus, not lacking any good thing. This volume introduces you to the School of Soul Winners and Soul Winning and carries you through various bends and bounds in the art and practice of soul winning. We send this first volume on soul winners and soul winning out with a cry to the Lord that, He should use it to transform every believer into a soul winner daily and deeply involved in soul winning.

Book Worship the First Century Way

Download or read book Worship the First Century Way written by K. C. Haddad and published by Northern Lights Publishing House. This book was released on 2014-10-17 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you would like to worship as the apostles did, this book is for you. Their worship was dynamic in its simplicity. Do you take for granted that the founders of major Christian denominations would approve of the way your denomination worships today? Find numerous quotes from them at the beginning of each chapter on various forms of worship we engage in. Do you take for granted that second-century apostolic fathers worshiped the same way your congregation worships today? You will find at the end of each chapter quotations from these early Christian leaders in the 2nd and 3rd centuries about what they approved of and did not approve of in Christian worship. Do you take for granted that the way your congregation worshiped is pretty much the same as Christian worship has been since Jesus’ apostles began the church? Numerous scriptures are quoted throughout each chapter in order to help the reader know what God wants in worship to him. Yes, we are worshiping God, not ourselves. Cain’s sin was that he worshiped to please himself. Are we a Cain or an Abel? In this book, every form of Christian worship common today is reviewed. Is your worship unbalanced with so much of one thing that it chokes out other ways that please God? This book ends with an appeal that is applicable also to the other book in this two-book series: Can the denominational world unite? Pagan religions and atheism are trying to take hold around the globe and to choke out Christianity. Divided we fall. United we stand. Let us go forward! Back to the first century.

Book Pipe Bible and Peyote among the Oglala Lakota

Download or read book Pipe Bible and Peyote among the Oglala Lakota written by Paul B. Steinmetz, S.J. and published by Syracuse University Press. This book was released on 1998-12-01 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Paul B. Steinmetz worked among the Oglala Lakota in South Dakota, he prayed with the Sacred Pipe, conversed with medicine men, and participated in their religious ceremonies. Steinmetz describes the history, belief systems, and contemporary ceremonies of three religious groups among the Oglala Lakota: traditional Lakota religion, the Native American Church, and the Body of Christ Independent Church, a small Pentecostal group. On the basis of these descriptions, Steinmetz discusses the interdynamics of Pipe, Bible, and Peyote, and offers a model for understanding Oglala religious identity. Steinmetz maintains that a sense of sacramentalism is essential in understanding Native American religions and that the mutual influence between Lakota religion and Christianity has been far more extensive than most scholars have suggested.

Book excerpt: The Essential Guide for Beating Temptation Falling for temptation isn’t inevitable. We don’t have to lose the fight. In fact, we can win if we understand the root of the problem and what Christians have done from the beginning to beat it. Our Favorite Sins shines a much-needed light in our lives’ dark corners and reveals the time-tested methods for getting victory over sin. Are you tyrannized by your own desires? If you are breathing, your answer is probably yes. The question is: What are you going to do about it? With more than thirty years of pastoral experience, Todd D. Hunter knows that most people—himself included—struggle every day with temptation. All too often, we fail and fall, and some of us are at our wit’s end, utterly defeated. What do we do to get a grip on the sin in our life and live like God wants? There’s good news: despite all our failures and shameful “moments after,” there really is a way out, a way forward, and a way that draws us closer to the life that God desires for us. In Our Favorite Sins, Hunter cracks open the problem of temptation and points to practical, biblically based, time-tested solutions. First revealing the role played by our disordered desires, Hunter shows how different temptations trip us up and how we can resist and overcome them, even if we’ve fallen prey to them for decades. Victory starts with reordering our desires, and the church has given us the tools for the job. Hunter shows us how to use them and start beating the temptations that so often beat us. Informed by exclusive research from the Barna Group, Our Favorite Sins offers a view that works for any believer wherever they are and no matter how big the battle they’re fighting.

Book excerpt: The authoritative work on the Church's teaching on sexual morality has been thoroughly updated to address dimensions of this complex topic that have emerged in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Since publication of the 2nd edition of Catholic Sexual Ethics, the philosophical landscape of human sexuality has dramatically changed. The rise of such concerns as moral relativism, the drive for same-sex unions, and a drastic redefinition of "marriage" and "family" have underscored the need for an unambiguous, up-to-date understanding of Catholic sexual teaching. Book From the stronghold of your soul chase all your foes away ambition anger hatred

Download or read book From the stronghold of your soul chase all your foes away ambition anger hatred written by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and published by Philaletheians UK. This book was released on 2018-01-03 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anger is one of three self-destructing states of mind; the other two are worldly love and delusion. Bhagavan Das posits Anger in the mid-point of the not-Self continuum: Hate towards Equals gives rise to Anger; towards Superiors, to Fear; towards Inferiors, to Scorn. Anger is the passion of fools; it becometh not a wise man. Socrates defines Anger as raging and seething of the soul. Aristotle, as boiling of the blood around the heart. Plato suggests that though pain, fear, anger, and other feelings are given to men by necessity, “if they conquered these they would live righteously, and if they were conquered by them, unrighteously.” In order to help men, the Gods protected the heart by surrounding it with the soft and cool thicket of lungs to chill out the heat of anger. “Dig not fire with a sword but by governing the tongue and being quiet, friendship is produced from strife, the fire of anger being extinguished, and you yourself will not appear to be destitute of intellect,” advises Pythagoras. If Love is the fever of the species, Anger is the self-consuming fire. Indeed it is life atoms that a man in a blind passion throws off, unconsciously, and he does it quite as effectively as a mesmeriser who transfers them from himself to any object consciously and under the guidance of his will. Anger is an insurmountable obstacle between reality and illusion. That is why abstinence from Anger is one of Duty’s ten virtues. “Act then, all ye who fail and suffer, act like him; and from the stronghold of your Soul, chase all your foes away — ambition, anger, hatred, e’en to the shadow of desire — when even you have failed” says the Voice of the Silence. To take the Kingdom of God by violence is Kabbalistic parlance for reaching Nirvana by artificially-induced conditions. To Dare, to Will, to Achieve, and to keep Silent, is the motto of the true Occultist. “The science of the gods is mastered by violence; it must be conquered, and does not give itself.” One key is the sacrifice of Prometheus who, by allowing men to proceed consciously on the path of spiritual evolution, transformed the most perfect of animals on earth into a potential god, making him free to “take the kingdom of heaven by violence.” We cannot attain Adeptship and Nirvana, Bliss and the “Kingdom of Heaven,” unless we link ourselves indissolubly with our Rex Lucis, the Lord of Splendour and of Light, our immortal God within us.

Book excerpt: An Eternal Affair: Scriptures and Encouragement to Carry You throughout Your Journey with Jesus is a practical, devotional-style book intended to introduce new believers in Christ to the faith, providing them with basic biblical principles that every Christian needs to know (and follow). It was also written for those who are already walking with Jesus to be encouraged throughout many storms of life and for them to come up higher in the things of the Lord as they serve the body of Christ, inside and outside of church. Author Helene Marie Cruz presents this in an autobiographical way, sharing her heart through life experiences and revelations that God has given her in order to evangelize and exhort Saints—old and new.
