Download or read book Ados suicide en parler et se parler written by Jonathan Lachal and published by Editions Le Muscadier. This book was released on 2020-11-23 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Eating Well Reading Well

Download or read book Eating Well Reading Well written by Nicole Jenette Simek and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2008 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While rejecting a conception of literature as moral philosophy, or a device for imparting particular morals to the reader through exemplary characters and plots, Maryse Conde has displayed throughout her writing career a strong valorization of literature as ethical critique. This study examines her singular approach to literary commitment as a critical reworking of aesthetic models and modes of interpretation. Focusing on four dominant problematics in Conde's work'history and globalization in La Belle Creole and Moi, Tituba sorciere...noire de Salem, intertextuality and reception in La migration des c'urs and Celanire cou-coupe, trauma and subjectivity in En attendant le bonheur and Desirada, community and ethics in Traversee de la mangrove and Histoire de la femme cannibale'this analysis proposes to elucidate how, and to what ends, Conde engages, and alters, approaches to reading, staging the problematic, yet pragmatic, need to read well. This hermeneutic imperative foregrounds the need to engage with texts, to cannibalize texts while recognizing their fundamental opacity and inexhaustibility, their resistance to the reader's interpretive habits.Nicole Simek is an Assistant Professor of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Whitman College. Specializing in French Caribbean literature, Simek's research interests include the intersection of politics and literature in Caribbean fiction, trauma theory, and sociological approaches to literature.Table of ContentsAcknowledgmentsIntroduction. Book Subject Matters

Download or read book Subject Matters written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-02-22 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What can we currently make of ‘the subject'? Under the sway of structuralism and poststructuralism, critical thinking took a distinctly negative turn, effectively disqualifying any form of subjectivity as a reference point in discussions of textual or literary meaning. Since the mid-1970s, however, throughout the human sciences, human agency has been restored as both a methodological principle and an ethical value: a phenomenon broadly designated as ‘the return of the subject'. Yet the returning subject bears the traces of its problematization... The present collection of essays explores the ways in which the subject now ‘matters', both in principle and in the variety of critical approaches in authorizes. Essays, which are both literary and theoretical in character, cover authors, texts and issues in French literature from Descartes to the present. A wide range of types of writing is examined, from established forms such as the novel to relatively marginal and generically unsystematized discursive practices such as automatic writing and the ‘récit de rêve'. Though it shuns ‘closure' in a matter which remains ultimately elusive, this book offers some account of the types of answer which remain open and of those we have learned to leave behind.

Download or read book Une journ e dans la mort de l Am rique written by Gary Younge and published by Grasset. This book was released on 2017-10-04 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Abdellah Ta a s Queer Migrations

Download or read book Abdellah Ta a s Queer Migrations written by Denis M. Provencher and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-06-28 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this first edited collection in English on Abdellah Taïa, Denis M. Provencher and Siham Bouamer frame the distinctiveness of the Moroccan author’s migration by considering current scholarship in French and Francophone studies, post-colonial studies, affect theory, queer theory, and language and sexuality. In contrast to critics that consider Taïa to immigrate and integrate successfully to France as a writer and intellectual, Provencher and Bouamer argue that the author’s writing is replete with elements of constant migration, “comings and goings,” cruel optimism, flexible accumulation of language over borders, transnational filiations, and new forms of belonging and memory making across time and space. At the same time, his constantly evolving identity emerges in many non-places, defined as liminal and border narrative spaces where unexpected and transgressive new forms of belonging emerge without completely shedding shame, mourning, or melancholy.
