Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Before Prophecy of the Sisters, before Alice and Lia became pawns in the curse that turned sister against sister, the burden of the prophecy belonged to their mother, Adelaide. This is her story. Adelaide Milthorpe is losing her grip on sanity. She is a Gate-a human portal to the Otherworlds, destined to bring forth Samael, the most powerful demon of all time, and his Lost Souls. Prowling the halls of Birchwood Manor, Adelaide is haunted by the whispers of the otherworldly Souls, who seek to use her for entry into the real world, where they would wreak havoc and rule beside their leader, Samael, in chaos. Their pleas plague her, torture her, tempt her. Samael calls to her, his promise of peace in the Otherworlds increasingly difficult to resist. And the stakes are high, for if Adelaide gives in to his urgings, her two daughters will inherit the same curse, forcing them to make the same impossible choice as they, too, are cast in the roles of Guardian and Gate. In this novella that delves further into the Prophecy, Adelaide's struggle to reconcile her two worlds as she descends into madness will captivate fans of the Prophecy of the Sisters series and new readers alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praise for Ysabeau S. Wilce's previous books: "This fresh and funky setting is rich with glorious costumes, innovative language, and tantalizing glimpses of history."—Kirkus Reviews, starred review These inter-connected stories are set in an opulent quasi-historical world of magick and high manners called the Republic of Califa. The Republic is a strangely familiar place—a baroque approximation of Gold Rush era-California with an overlay of Aztec ceremony—yet the characters who populate it are true originals: rockstar magicians, murderous gloves, bouncing boy terrors, blue tinted butlers, sentient squids, and a three-year-old Little Tiny Doom and her vengeful pink plush pig. By turn whimsical and horrific (sometime in the same paragraph), Wilce's stories have been characterized as "screwball comedies for goths" but they could also be described as "historical fantasies" or "fanciful histories" for there are nuggets of historical fact hidden in them there lies. Ysabeau S. Wilce is the author of Flora Segunda, Andre Norton Award–winner Flora's Dare, and Flora's Fury, and she has published work in Asimov's, Steampunk!, and Fantasy & Science Fiction. She lives in San Francisco, California.

Book A Prophetic History of the Church Since WW2

Download or read book A Prophetic History of the Church Since WW2 written by Paul Davies and published by . This book was released on 2021-03 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the end of World War II, and the fulfilment of Bible prophecy in the restoration of the nation of Israel, the Holy Spirit has been preparing the Church for the End-Time Harvest. Amazing "moves of God" have occurred through fallible servants, who were available for the Lord to use. Some were household names in their day, yet they are virtually unknown among Christians today. The institutional church has so suppressed knowledge of these events that most Christians don't even know they occurred. Many popular accounts of these men and women and their deeds have been deliberately falsified to discredit their ministries; some out of jealousy, some due to theological disputes. You will need to draw your own conclusions as to why and investigate the stories related in this volume to your own satisfaction. God has been telling the prophets He is about to "do it again". There is another major 'Wave of The Holy Spirit' about to break upon an unready Church, known to many as the Billion-Soul Harvest. My prayer is that this book will open your eyes to what the Lord has already done so that you can have faith for what He is about to do, in which YOU are called to play a part.

Book False Prophets

Download or read book False Prophets written by James Hoopes and published by Basic Books. This book was released on 2007-10-11 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to Jim Hoopes, the fundamental principles on which business is based-authority, power, control-are increasingly at odds with principles of life in a democratic society-freedom, equality, individualism. False Prophets critically examines the pioneering theories of the early management thinkers, such as Taylor, Follett, Mayo, and Deming, which intended to democratize corporate life yet have proved antithetical to the successful practice of business. Hoopes challenges popular management movements that followed in the wake of these thinkers and accuses today's business theorists of perpetuating bad management in the name of democratic values. He urges executives and managers to recognize the realities of corporate life and learn to apply the principles of power. He also unveils a new management agenda that will be of paramount significance to modern organizations. A rich and lively read, False Prophets provides a refreshingly new and original overview of the history of management in the larger context of the American culture, brilliantly illustrating its evolution-from the ivory tower to the shop floor.

Book Australianama

Download or read book Australianama written by Samia Khatun and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-12-15 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Australian deserts remain dotted with the ruins of old mosques. Beginning with a Bengali poetry collection discovered in a nineteenth-century mosque in the town of Broken Hill, Samia Khatun weaves together the stories of various peoples colonized by the British Empire to chart a history of South Asian diaspora. Australia has long been an outpost of Anglo empires in the Indian Ocean world, today the site of military infrastructure central to the surveillance of 'Muslim-majority' countries across the region. Imperial knowledges from Australian territories contribute significantly to the Islamic-Western binary of the post- Cold War era. In narrating a history of Indian Ocean connections from the perspectives of those colonized by the British, Khatun highlights alternative contexts against which to consider accounts of non-white people. Australianama challenges a central idea that powerfully shapes history books across the Anglophone world: the colonial myth that European knowledge traditions are superior to the epistemologies of the colonized. Arguing that Aboriginal and South Asian language sources are keys to the vast, complex libraries that belie colonized geographies, Khatun shows that stories in colonized tongues can transform the very ground from which we view past, present and future.

Book excerpt: THE BODY OF CHRIST A great section of the Body of Christ, the Church, is acting as if it were caught in a bad marriage. It has turned nasty with itself; it has blocked its ears against itself; and in some cases it has turned to the world to wreak vengeance on itself. Moreover, because it has fallen out of love it has sought a divorce from itself. Should a person become deranged and turn mad they are restrained and put in a straightjacket. This is done to prevent them from harming themselves. However, how does one restrain something as large as the Church? Colin Isbister ministers with his wife Lorraine in Australia. Colin and Lorraine have been married for 32 years and in ministry for even longer. Both have distinct and different ministries. Lorraine continues to successfully oversee the growing church they both pioneered and Colin ministers to the elderly and others in the wider Body.

The essays focus on various aspects of Conrad's work, especially the prophetic literature, the Bible as literature, canonical issues, and engaged readings. In developing these lines of scholarship, the authors pay tribute to Conrad and seek to take his work further. The contributions from Korean scholars are especially noteworthy, since Conrad has had significant influence on Korean biblical scholarship through students who studied under him at the University of Queensland.
