Book excerpt: In the inspirational autobiography Adam's Heart, author Adam Robinson shares his life-changing ordeal with heart disease. At the age of twenty-four, author Adam Robinson went in for a routine physical and was told that he had a heart condition. After deciding that it was better to put off the surgery to allow for advances in technology, Adam didn't think much about his condition until he suffered from a heart attack at age twenty-nine. Days later he had open-heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. Adam recovered quickly and his heart was repaired-but not his mind. For many years Adam was on disability income, depressed and obese, and was in a tremendous amount of pain. But he finally made the conscious decision to get physically fit. He is now learning how to control the old habits that were harming his body, such as eating lots of fast food, drinking too much soda, and too many trips to the popular all-you-can-eat buffet lines. Even though he sometimes struggles to maintain his fitness regimen, Adam is strong in mind, body, and sprit. He has vowed to continue the fight to keep healthy, not only for himself, but also for the ones that he loves.

Book The Great Heart of the Republic

Download or read book The Great Heart of the Republic written by Adam Arenson and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2011-01-03 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the battles to determine the destiny of the United States in the middle decades of the nineteenth century, St. Louis, then at the hinge between North, South, and West, was ideally placed to bring these sections together. At least, this was the hope of a coterie of influential St. Louisans. But their visions of re-orienting the nation's politics with Westerners at the top and St. Louis as a cultural, commercial, and national capital crashed as the country was tom apart by convulsions over slavery, emancipation, and Manifest Destiny. While standard accounts frame the coming of the Civil War as strictly a conflict between the North and the South who were competing to expand their way of life, Arenson shifts the focus to the distinctive culture and politics of the American West, recovering the region’s importance for understanding the Civil War and examining the vision of western advocates themselves, and the importance of their distinct agenda for shaping the political, economic, and cultural future of the nation.

Chiron: The Wisdom of a Deeply Open Heart presents a thorough examination of the psychological, mythological and evolutionary meanings in the symbol of Chiron based in Gainsburg's extensive clinical experience working with individuals and couples. He lays out the Chironic landscape of the Soul by examining the origin of the 'sacred wound, ' the psyche's defenses and emotional reality of the wound resurfacing later in life, and how the wound becomes our 'sacred medicine' or our unique and embodied wisdom. Most notable is an original method of effectively interpreting Chiron's polarity position within an evolution of consciousness framework. Includes a general and refreshing exploration of astrological polarity in light of leading insights into the nature of evolving consciousness; a look at the meaning of Chiron's glyph; Chiron through the signs and houses; in-depth examinations of the sacred wound, the medicine, the broken-open heart and the medicine-walk archetypes; the karmic implications of Chironic placement; Chiron retrograde; and the popular article, "The Chiron-Moon Connection."

Book The Figure of Adam in Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 15

Download or read book The Figure of Adam in Romans 5 and 1 Corinthians 15 written by Felipe De Jesus Legarreta-Castillo and published by Augsburg Fortress Publishers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is widely recognized that in some of his letters, Paul develops a Christology based on a comparison between Adam and Christ, and that this Christology has antecedents in Jewish interpretation of Genesis 1-4. Felipe Legarreta gives careful attention to patterns of exegesis in Second-Temple Judaism and identifies, for the first time, a number of motifs by which Jews drew ethical implications from the story of Adam and his expulsion from Eden. He then demonstrates that throughout the "Christological" passages in Romans and 1 Corinthians, Paul is taking part in a wider Jewish exegetical and ethical discussion regarding life in the new creation.

Book Adam s Dream

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph Romanella
  • Publisher : BalboaPress
  • Release : 2012-11-30
  • ISBN : 1452508240
  • Pages : 513 pages

Download or read book Adam s Dream written by Joseph Romanella and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-11-30 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the Holy Scriptures, in the beginning, Adam felt very alone and deeply longed to have a partner like him. God therefore caused him to fall into a deep sleep, took one of his ribs, and fashioned woman from it. Notably, there is no mention in the Holy Bible that he later awoke. In Adams Dream, author Joseph Romanella presents a strong and very compelling argument that Adam, as the universal man (or mind), is still sound asleep and has progressed to dream of humankind as his direct off spring. He believes that with this new revolutionary knowledge gained through Divine Grace, the self-centered mentalities of human beings along with their narrow points of view concerning life and the outside world will also have to undergo corresponding changes. In fact, by comprehending that we are currently living inside of a very realistic fantasy as imaginary personal figures, we are immediately placed in the proper perspective to significantly change the way that we think, feel, perceive, will and behave. As a result, with this Holy Knowledge we are in a position to attract many good things into our earthly lives, not only to prosper us spiritually, but also in every other way. Moreover, with this new light a clearer awareness and a deeper acceptance of Gods Intimate Love for each one of us, automatically arises. And, contrary to popular religious beliefs, we also come to the realization that by faith all of our sins, past, present and future have already been forgiven and we have been empowered to enter into the Glorious Freedom, Rest, Life, Joy, Wisdom, Righteousness and Eternal Embrace of our Heavenly Father, without the need for any good works or sacrifices on our part.
