Book Advanced Wireless Networks

Download or read book Advanced Wireless Networks written by Savo G. Glisic and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-07-22 with total page 864 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of this popular reference covers enabling technologies for building up 5G wireless networks. Due to extensive research and complexity of the incoming solutions for the next generation of wireless networks it is anticipated that the industry will select a subset of these results and leave some advanced technologies to be implemented later,. This new edition presents a carefully chosen combination of the candidate network architectures and the required tools for their analysis. Due to the complexity of the technology, the discussion on 5G will be extensive and it will be difficult to reach consensus on the new global standard. The discussion will have to include the vendors, operators, regulators as well as the research and academic community in the field. Having a comprehensive book will help many participants to join actively the discussion and make meaningful contribution to shaping the new standard.

Book Contracting Out for Human Services

Download or read book Contracting Out for Human Services written by Ruth H. De Hoog and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 1984-01-01 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contracting out for services has become a popular technique in government’s perennial quest to cut spending. Yet seldom has the practice been examined from any but the public choice approach. This book explores contracting out in the important area of human services, covering the critical conditions of contracting and the vital points of politics, procedures, service quality, and effectiveness. In doing so, DeHoog uses three theoretical perspectives drawn from social science traditions: the economic perspective of market imperfections, the political perspective of cooptation, and the interdisciplinary perspective of organizational decision-making. To evaluate the perspectives and their predictions in the human services, DeHoog has examined contracting in social services (Title XX) and employment and training programs, (CETA), primarily through in-depth interviews with participants.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Democracies are transforming worldwide, but at the same time political inequality is increasing. This development threatens to leave growing portions of mass publics effectively ‘outside’ the political process. This volume brings together leading authorities in the field of democratic citizenship and participation to address pertinent questions concerning the quality of the democratic political process at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Analysing causes and consequences of recent developments in democratic governance and citizenship, it contributes new and original research to the ongoing debate on the crisis of representative democracy. The contributors deal with a broad range of issues including aspects of democratic citizenship and citizens' perceptions of system performance, political inequality and the democratic impact of participatory innovations. This book will be of key interest to scholars and students in democratization studies, democratic citizenship, comparative politics, political sociology and political participation.

  • Author : Jennie Gottschalk
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing USA
  • Release : 2016-08-11
  • ISBN : 1628922486
  • Pages : 305 pages

Download or read book Experimental Music Since 1970 written by Jennie Gottschalk and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2016-08-11 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is experimental music today? Recent attempts to define or identify examples of experimental music have been cautious and subjective, offering very little guidance to anyone with an interest in this field of activity. Is experimental music a historical event that refers only to John Cage and his influence, or does it have a greater spread and longevity? The development of this musical practice over the last 45 years merits a fresh definition and discussion. An experimental approach is not identifiable in specific sounds or techniques, and its scope would be drastically limited if it were judged on the basis of social or aesthetic groupings or self-identifications of composers.

In this second edition of the widely recognized and authoritative work The Making of the Mosaic, Ninette Kelley and Michael Trebilcock have thoroughly revised and updated their examination of the ideas, interests, institutions, and rhetoric that have shaped Canada's immigration history. Beginning their study in the pre-Confederation period, the authors interpret major episodes in the evolution of Canadian immigration policy, including the massive deportations of the First World War and Depression eras as well as the Japanese-Canadian internment camps during World War Two. New chapters provide perspective on immigration in a post-9/11 world, where security concerns and a demand for temporary foreign workers play a defining role in immigration policy reform. A comprehensive and important work, The Making of the Mosaic clarifies the attitudes underlying each phase and juncture of immigration history, providing vital perspective on the central issues of immigration policy that continue to confront us today.
