Samuel looked at each one of his seven sons, and even though they fit the external profile of a king, God told Samuel that the external appearance was not what identified them as king. There was one more--the eighth son--that has the internal approval to be king. The one who was rejected was now the one who had to be retrieved as the candidate for the anointed presence of God. David represented the number of new beginnings. As the eighth son, he would bring something new to the nation of Israel. Saul was the people's king, but David was God's king, and God wanted to do something new and different for the nation of Israel. Even though things appear not to be going your way, one thing is for sure. God is not shaken by the rejection of His people. His plans will still be fulfilled whether the people want to be a part of it or just sit on the sideline to observe it. God will show Himself faithful no matter what it appears. Now that God has chosen you, you are now ready for the next season, dimension, and level of your life. Now you do not have to be worried about your past because God has already examined and inspected your life. He has chosen you to move forward so that now His presence can be in your life, and you will be the example and testimony to others that when it is your season, it is your season.
