Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Manual of Tests and Criteria contains criteria, test methods and procedures to be used for classification of dangerous goods according to the provisions of Parts 2 and 3 of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations, as well as of chemicals presenting physical hazards according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). As a consequence, it supplements also national or international regulations which are derived from the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods or the GHS. At its ninth session (7 December 2018), the Committee adopted a set of amendments to the sixth revised edition of the Manual as amended by Amendment 1. This seventh revised edition takes account of these amendments. In addition, noting that the work to facilitate the use of the Manual in the context of the GHS had been completed, the Committee considered that the reference to the "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods" in the title of the Manual was no longer appropriate, and decided that from now on, the Manual should be entitled "Manual of Tests and Criteria".

Book Enhanced Trustworthiness and End User Acceptance of Conditionally Automated Vehicles in the Transition Period

Download or read book Enhanced Trustworthiness and End User Acceptance of Conditionally Automated Vehicles in the Transition Period written by Daniel Watzenig and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-08 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A key factor for the introduction of (conditionally) automated vehicles is a high level of trust in and acceptance of these vehicles by the end-user. To bring such so-called TrustVehicles on the road, the end-users and their expectations have to be strongly taken into consideration by, for instance, developing driver interfaces as well as reliable and robust automated driving controllers. The main topics of the book are ranging from the question of how these TrustVehicles should behave and interact with users, the development of reliable sense-plan-act approaches, the whole verification procedures starting with simulation to studies on the driving simulator and the verification on a test track. All these steps together provide an overall picture and pave the way to trustworthy and reliable automated vehicles – so-called TrustVehicles.

Book Ensuring Quality to Gain Access to Global Markets

Download or read book Ensuring Quality to Gain Access to Global Markets written by Martin Kellermann and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2019-04-09 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a modern world with rapidly growing international trade, countries compete less based on the availability of natural resources, geographical advantages, and lower labor costs and more on factors related to firms' ability to enter and compete in new markets. One such factor is the ability to demonstrate the quality and safety of goods and services expected by consumers and confirm compliance with international standards. To assure such compliance, a sound quality infrastructure (QI) ecosystem is essential. Jointly developed by the World Bank Group and the National Metrology Institute of Germany, this guide is designed to help development partners and governments analyze a country's quality infrastructure ecosystems and provide recommendations to design and implement reforms and enhance the capacity of their QI institutions.

Book Risk Management in Regulatory Frameworks

Download or read book Risk Management in Regulatory Frameworks written by Lorenza Jachia and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent years have been marked by many catastrophic events both natural and man-made. Close interconnections mean that the impact of these crises has been felt throughout the world. Although many tools have been developed to manage risks successfully, there can be no doubt that many of the losses we have recently witnessed could have been prevented, or minimised, in the context of an effective and well-balanced regulatory system. The goal of this publication is to provide insights and recommendations for policymakers on designing regulatory systems that result in an efficient, effective and transparent management of risks. This is a practical book. It introduces a holistic model of a regulatory system, function by function and with real-life examples, which is based on the objective of managing risks effectively.

Book Driver Acceptance of New Technology

Download or read book Driver Acceptance of New Technology written by Dr Alan Stevens and published by Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 2014-02-28 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acceptance of new technology and systems by drivers is an important area of concern to governments, automotive manufacturers and equipment suppliers, especially technology that has significant potential to enhance safety. To be acceptable, new technology must be useful and satisfying to use. If not, drivers will not want to have it, in which case it will never achieve the intended safety benefit. Even if they have the technology, drivers may not use it if it is deemed unacceptable, or may not use it in the manner intended by the designer. At worst, they may seek to disable it. This book brings into a single edited volume the accumulating body of thinking and research on driver and operator acceptance of new technology. Bringing together contributions from international experts from around the world, the editors have shaped a book that covers the theory behind acceptance, how it can be measured and how it can be improved. Case studies are presented that provide data on driver acceptance of a wide range of new and emerging vehicle technology. Although driver acceptance is the central focus of this book, acceptance of new technology by operators in other domains, and across cultures, is also investigated. Similarly, perspectives are derived from domains such as human computer interaction, where user acceptance has long been regarded as a key driver of product success. This book comes at a critical time in the history of the modern motor vehicle, as the number of new technologies entering the modern vehicle cockpit rapidly escalates. The goal of this book is to inspire further research and development of new vehicle technology to optimise user acceptance of it; and, in doing so, to maximise its potential to be useful, satisfying to use and able to save human life.

Download or read book Transnational Legal Orders written by Terence C. Halliday and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-01-19 with total page 559 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a path-breaking, empirically grounded theory that reframes the study of law and society. It shifts research from a predominantly national context to one that places transnational, national and local lawmaking and practice within a single, coherent, analytic frame. By presenting and elaborating a new concept, transnational legal orders, Halliday and Shaffer present an original approach to legal orders that affect fundamental economic and social behaviors. The contributors generate arrays of hypotheses about how transnational legal orders rise and fall, where they compete and cooperate, and how they settle and unsettle. This original theory is applied and developed by distinguished scholars from North America, Europe and Asia in business law (taxation, corporate bankruptcy, secured transactions, transport of goods by sea), regulatory law (monetary and trade, finance, food safety, climate change), and human rights law (civil and political rights, rule of law, right to health/access to medicines, human trafficking, criminal accountability of political leaders).
