Book Academic Excellence in 21 Days

Download or read book Academic Excellence in 21 Days written by Eric Nwachukwu and published by Partridge Africa. This book was released on 2015-12-21 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for students who want to excel academically. The guideposts and principles contained in this book will show you why and how you will become a high-flying student. I managed the local library of Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral Catholic Church Kano for over four years as an unqualified librarian and I see different students preparing for different exams in a mediocre way. What is most shocking here is that; most of these students are mediocre students due to the fact that they lack the right approach to learning, studying and preparations required for academic excellence rather than the mere exertion of studies. The principles in this book are no respecter of persons, age, gender, race, background or your location. The results are the same to whoever would apply them. It contains the distilled essence of all that you need to know and do in your academic journey to excellence. This 21---Days course has SIX stages. Each Days message/material is divided into different sub-sections dealing with one central topic literally and in a juxtapositions context. Consequently, the reader is allowed to exercise his/her power of association and observation of ideas presented in connection to the other sub-sections and signposts illustrated in the book with the application exercises.

Book Promoting Health and Academic Success

Download or read book Promoting Health and Academic Success written by David A. Birch and published by Human Kinetics. This book was released on 2015-02-17 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is increasing evidence that health and academic success go hand in hand. Now educators and health professionals have a new model—the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) approach—to use in promoting health and learning in the schools. This new approach, developed by leaders in education and health, is a transition from the coordinated school health (CSH) model that was introduced in 1987. Promoting Health and Academic Success is a new resource for the transition from CSH to WSCC. Written by national leaders in education and school health, some of whom were involved in the development of WSCC, this book provides direction for education and school health professionals interested in promoting student health. It is valuable for individuals and groups interested in advocating for WSCC and for those engaged in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of this new approach. The book also is a resource for both undergraduate and graduate students in courses that address a coordinated approach to school health. Each chapter includes application activities that engage students in translating their learning in the context of WSCC simulations. In addition, the School Health in Action feature provides case studies that demonstrate the impact school health programs are having in schools across the United States. Applicable to both students and professionals, Promoting Health and Academic Success includes an appendix that presents a thorough guide to using school health assessment tools created by organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the National Association of State Boards of Education. Following is a partial listing of the tools: • The School Health Index helps schools improve health and safety policies. • The State Schools Health Policy Database facilitates sharing of policies across states. • The Health Education Curriculum Analysis Tool encourages children to adopt and maintain health-enhancing behaviors. • The Physical Education Curriculum Analysis Tool assists schools in analyzing their curricula and comparing it to national physical education standards. • A Parent Engagement tool shares strategies for involving parents in school health. The book is presented in five parts. Part I unveils the new WSCC model, explains its components, and provides a historical overview of coordinated school health. Part II offers insights into the Whole Child initiative and examines the evidence linking health and academic success. Part III explores the crucial role of school administration in ensuring success, ways to meet the diverse needs of students and their families, and methods for getting the community involved. Part IV delves into planning, implementation, and evaluation aspects of WSCC. Part V looks to the future for WSCC and provides perspectives from the field. The appendix supplies the assessment instruments and tools.

Book Academic Leadership Day by Day

Download or read book Academic Leadership Day by Day written by Jeffrey L. Buller and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-10-26 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It can seem at times as though all of academic administration today is focused only on the need for continual change and the endless pursuit of "the big idea." But most academic leaders, from department chairs and program directors through university presidents and chancellors, are far too busy helping their institutions flourish for them to divert critical energy and resources to yet another untried theory or management principle. Academic Leadership Day by Day takes an entirely different approach to developing your proven academic leadership: It introduces one practical and field-tested idea each day for an entire academic year. Rather than requiring you to devote days or even weeks to administrative training (which may prove to be of little use in the end), this manual gives you no-nonsense suggestions that you can consider on even your busiest days. Experiment with the suggestions made each day, discover what works for you, and then build on your successes for the benefit of your institution and its programs. Significant improvements often result from small, gradual, and consistent efforts, and Academic Leadership Day by Day is your guide to becoming a more accomplished, confident academic leader a few minutes at a time.

Download or read book Principles of Academic Excellence written by Greg Erhabor and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2010-09-14 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing from my experience both as a Christian leader and a lecturer over the years, the issue of how to combine one's Christian activities with one's academic pursuits has been a very thorny one. On one extreme, are those who believe that they are in school to study, have good grades and that the best way to testify their Christian faith is by being the best and graduating with honors and giving little or no time to the nourishment of their spiritual life. The former group of students devotes most of their time to studying with minimum time for spiritual activities or extra-curricular work. While there may be merit in this position, it ends up with the student being academically strong but spiritually weak, lacking spiritual qualities to meet with the challenges of life. On the other extreme are those who spend most of their time in various Christian activities and fellowship programmes to the point that they neglect their studies. The latter group of students soon finds out that their disposition mars their testimonies, puts them in confrontation with their parents and guardians and may lead to depression and in some cases backsliding from the faith. This book aims to bring balance between these two extremes. It helps the student to get a balance between his Christian activities and his commitment to his academic pursuits. I have often said that there is no dichotomy between the spiritual and the secular. Our devotion to God should make us possess extra-ordinary wisdom and knowledge beyond our contemporaries. Daniel 1:17, 20 reads, "As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom, and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams... And in all matters of wisdom and understanding that the king inquired of them he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm." In this book, I offer practical steps and suggestions on how every student can maintain excellence both in his studies and in the pursuit of his faith. I wish I had these ideas over two decades ago when I was in school. However, I believe that this book will be widely circulated among students at all levels and it will bring up a generation that will be worthy of emulation in all aspects of life.
