Book Abortion Euthanasia and Infanticide

Download or read book Abortion Euthanasia and Infanticide written by Terrence Morrissey and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2010 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with facts. Although there is a smattering throughout the writing of personal thoughts, suggestions and comments, the writer has endeavored to leave the reader with, hopefully, enough factual information to draw some pretty startling conclusions regarding the subjects of Abortion, Euthanasia and Infanticide. By observing that almost all discussions are centered on two primary ideas; One, that God is the final say on these subjects and here generally ends the Christian perspective and argument (in most cases). Secondly "A woman has a right to decide what she can do with her own body" and here ends the culmination of the opossing argument. In an effort to persuade those who hold the above lines of reasoning, that there is much more to Euthnasia, Abortion and Infanticide, the author went looking for experts on these subjects and what arguments might be both in favor of and against the subject matter Referring to a story in the Milwaukee Sentinal the author quotes from the story. The newspaper reported that police had arrested four children ages four to eleven, who were throwing a fetus off a bridge. The youngsters had retreived 22 aborted babies from a nearby dumpster. The subtitle of the book is where the author would like to draw your attention. "A Slippery Slope." For without due care, love and immaculate attention to these matters, we, as a society, could very well end up exactly like the unborn, the elderly, the disabled and the so called 'Unfit' or as Hitler called them "Useless Eaters" ended up....in well organized Death Camps. "Too far fetched, for an enlightened society, ' you might think. This book responds with...that is exactly what the people thought a short sixty years ago." Good book, Keep an open mind and then draw your own conclusions. The main characters are those of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

And what moral, legal, or other kinds of protection should be provided for the most helpless and vulnerable of all human beings?

Book Consistently Opposing Killing

Download or read book Consistently Opposing Killing written by Rachel M. MacNair and published by Praeger. This book was released on 2008-04-30 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work explains an increasingly popular view dubbed the Consistent Life Ethic, which holds that all life deserves reverence, so all social support for actions that destroy life should be withdrawn. The call is for opposition to abortion, capital punishment, euthanasia and other forms of killing to be consistent. Supporters of this view, shared widely in these pages, include figures from the Dalai Lama and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malread Corrifon Maguire to actor Martin Sheen and Village Voice columnist Nat Hentoff. It is at once an ethical, religious and political ideology, explored here in its application to actions from treatment of unborn humans to infants, the disabled, the poverty-stricken, war combatants and animals. In the work at hand, contributors explain the history of the pro-life movement, its growth and expansion, how these types of seemingly disparate killing are all linked, why a Consistent Life Ethic is needed, and how individuals can take steps to assure this ethic is more widely accepted.

Download or read book Killing and Saving written by John P. Reeder and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2004-06-11 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contrary to the views of Alasdair MacIntyre and others who assert that modern Western morality is in disarray, torn by incommensurable moral views, John Reeder believes that there is much agreement about taking and saving lives. Many people might, in fact, agree on the various circumstances in which the death of a person constitutes a violation of the right to life, or that people have a right to our help, especially a right to life-saving aid. In Killing and Saving, Reeder analyzes five sorts of situations in which we are morally permitted or even obligated to take human life: e.g., when we repel an attacker who voluntarily &"forfeits&" the right to life; when we are confronted with &"involuntary pursuit&" or &"material aggression&"; when someone &"yields&" the right to life; when all will die if nothing is done, but some can be saved if others are killed; and when there is a &"double effect&" in which we take life as a foreseen but unintended consequence of attempt to achieve a greater good. Reeder argues that these (and closely related) categories account for many of our convictions ranging from abortion to infanticide, to starvation, to war. He also examines the concept of absolute or exceptionless right to life. Reeder draws on a number of moral views, from theological ethics to Enlightenment notions of natural rights or respect for rational creatures. He does not attempt to argue for a foundation for the right not to be killed and the right to be saved. Rather, he focuses on the content of the convictions themselves and argues that where disagreements remain, such as the case of abortion, they can be accounted for by the way the rights in question are explained and justified.
