Carib Indians inhabit islands of dense rain forest, practicing their cannibalism. Huge sea monsters lurk on mysterious islands guarding the treasures of their Scottish master. This is A West Indian Adventure. Amongst these adventures, two boys, Henry and Ben, looking for their relatives become lifelong friends. Together, they must overcome their fears of abandonment, the danger of pirates and Carib Indians, and the sorrow of death. A West Indian Adventure is about facing your troubles and resolving them with the help of good friends and the Lord...and having the adventure of a lifetime along the way. Author Julie Straughan offers a creative world often forgotten as readers relive A West Indian Adventure. Julie Straughan, born in Miami, Florida, spent half of her childhood in the Florida Keys, where she searched the mangrove islands for shells and pirate treasures. Her father passed away when she was seventeen years old, but with the help of her mother and the Lord, she was able to overcome the sorrow. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic College. Her desire for research led her to Jamaica, through Hurricane Gilbert and its devastation, and inspired her to travel to Scotland, where she learned of her own Scottish heritage. She is currently pursuing her great interests in nature, history, and archaeology.

Maya Patel opens her dream café although the "knockoff Starbucks" is anything but a dream, and nightmares begin on day one with kitchen chaos leading to bootlegging on the high seas. This is a story about five fascinating, multicultural women who couldn't be more different from each other, yet they found common ground in love for each other and their fight for justice.
