Contrary to the usual custom the subject of Surgical Bacteriology is introduced in connection with the etiology of inflammation, in which it is an important factor. The grouping of the topics differs somewhat from the arrangement usually employed, as will be seen by reference to the table of contents. It is believed that the study of the subject will? Be facilitated by this method of classification. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise on Surgical Diseases, and the Operations Suited to Them, Vol. 1 Men of great celebrity are commonly so absorbed in the practice of their profession, that the world is usually indebted to others for the publication of their opinions. Baron Boyer is a happy exception to this remark, and his System of Surgery will, it is believed, enjoy the same rank in the nineteenth century, as those of Celsus, Heister, and Benjamin Bell, when they were severally published. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Science and Art of Surgery, Being a Treatise on Surgical Injuries, Diseases, and Operations, Vol. 1 Notwithstanding every desire to prevent any unnecessary increase in the size of the Volumes, it has been found impossible to keep them within the limits even of the last Edition, and a considerable addition to the text has been rendered unavoidable, although much matter that was somewhat obsolete has been struck out. Several chapters have been recast, and some almost rewritten. The alterations and additions thus made have not been confined to any one part of the Work, but have been very generally distributed through the various subjects of which it treats. Many of the woodcuts have been redrawn, and nearly a hundred new illustrations have been added. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Surgical Treatment Vol 1 of 3

Download or read book Surgical Treatment Vol 1 of 3 written by James Peter Warbasse and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-22 with total page 946 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Surgical Treatment, Vol. 1 of 3: A Practical Treatise on the Therapy of Surgical Diseases for the Use of Practitioners and Students of Surgery This work has been written in the interest of the surgical patient. The object has been to place in the hands of the surgeon the means for rendering help in every surgical condition under all circumstances. The aim has been to make this information easily accessible, and its application practical. In most surgical diseases there is an ideal course of treatment which may be pursued and which represents the highest possibility of surgery. The author has endeavored to present this maximum of treatment. Every consideration has been given to direct the surgeon toward the ideal of perfection. In many instances its application requires especial skill and knowledge. The author is aware that circumstances may surround both the patient and the surgeon which make impossible the applying of the ideal measures, or render such attempts inexpedient. As an admission of these circumstances this work presents alternatives of treatment which may be employed if the best thing possible cannot be done. Book A System of Surgery Vol 1 of 5

Download or read book A System of Surgery Vol 1 of 5 written by Timothy Holmes and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-21 with total page 856 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A System of Surgery, Vol. 1 of 5: Theoretical and Practical in Treatise by Various Authors, With Illustrations; General Pathology The object of this book is to unite into a complete sys tem the opinions and experience of many men, most of them Hospital Surgeons in London, and most of them writing on subjects of their own choice. As each subject must be treated with something of the completeness of a monograph, the work must necessarily be voluminous; but both Contributors and Editor have done their best to present each essay in as moderate a compass as the topic would allow. Where so many men unite in writing on parts of one great subject, it is hardly possible to avoid some differences of opinion; but none of much import ance will, it is hoped, be detected in the following pages, and certainly none which can destroy the uniformity of the teaching. Book Surgical Anatomy Vol 1 of 3

Download or read book Surgical Anatomy Vol 1 of 3 written by John Blair Deaver and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-08 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Surgical Anatomy, Vol. 1 of 3: A Treatise on Human Anatomy in Its Application to the Practice of Medicine and Surgery; Upper Extremity, Back of Neck, Shoulder, Trunk, Cranium, Scalp, Face This book has been twelve years in preparation. During this time, while no change has been made in its plan, its scope has been much enlarged, to meet a wider field than for which it was first intended. My original purpose was to furnish for students a text-book Of Surgical Anatomy, then much needed and not obtainable by them. 2i have made a book which will be serviceable, I hope, not alone to them, but to practising physicians and surgeons. While, I regret to say, this subject is much neglected in our American institutions, there came to be, nevertheless, during the progress of this work, an increasing and encouraging recognition Of its importance. In some schools the course was much enlarged in others new courses were established. In my own classes the work has constantly grown, until it has become not alone an adjunct to, and application of, descriptive anatomy, but rather the bridge between that study and practice of surgery itself. To meet these requirements it has not been sufficient for me to emphasize and clarify the facts of descriptive anatomy as required Of undergraduates. I have been compelled to bring to them the knowledge Of anatomy which I have used and as I have used it in surgical practice. My book has kept pace with this change and growth. I have in no case cut down descriptions nor the teaching devoted to surgical anatomy, nor directions for and procedure in dissection, but I have added much relating to surgical work. I have endeavored to regard fully the necessities of undergraduates, and at the same time have had in mind constantly the requirements which they will meet as surgeons in their chosen field, and have tried to make for them a sufficient work of reference for use in actual practice.
