Book A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Combinations of Slot and Linear Antennas

Download or read book A Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Combinations of Slot and Linear Antennas written by Stuart A. Long and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The combination of a linear antenna and a slot antenna can be used to provide a relatively isotropic radiation pattern when the dipole is perpendicular to the plane of the slot. The theoretical far field radiation pattern of a dipole flanked by a two-element array of slot antennas is formulated. The fields for a variety of relative phasings between the elements of the combination antenna are calculated and the degree of approximation to an isotropic source in the sense of the total field noted. An experimental antenna was fabricated and the radiated fields measured with good agreement found with the theoretical formulas. (Author).

Book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Some Slot Antenna Array Problems

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Some Slot Antenna Array Problems written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of metallic fences on mutual coupling between slots of a slot antenna is studied. A model solution has been obtained whereby the fence is modelled as a thin half elliptic cylinder. This model allows for thickness to be taken into account and provides exact solutions to mutual impedance computations. The geometrical theory of diffraction has been adopted to analyze an exceedingly thin fence, when the slot antennas are not too close to the fence. Design procedures for longitudinal and traverse stripline-fed slots have been developed. A design procedure for such slot arrays requires knowledge of the mutual coupling relation as well as the self-impedance properties of a slot. Preliminary design equations are reported in this document. (Author).

Book Ultra Wideband Antennas and Propagation

Download or read book Ultra Wideband Antennas and Propagation written by Ben Allen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-11-02 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing up-to-date material for UWB antennas and propagation as used in a wide variety of applications, "Ultra-wideband Antennas and Propagation for Communications, Radar and Imaging" includes fundamental theory, practical design information and extensive discussion of UWB applications from biomedical imaging, through to radar and wireless communications. An in-depth treatment of ultra-wideband signals in practical environments is given, including interference, coexistence and diversity considerations. The text includes antennas and propagation in biological media in addition to more conventional environments. The topics covered are approached with the aim of helping practising engineers to view the subject from a different angle, and to consider items as variables that were treated as constants in narrowband and wideband systems. Features tables of propagation data, photographs of antenna systems and graphs of results (e.g. radiation patterns, propagation characteristics) Covers the fundamentals of antennas and propagation, as well as offering an in-depth treatment of antenna elements and arrays for UWB systems, and UWB propagation models Provides a description of the underlying concepts for the design of antennas and arrays for conventional as well as ultra-wideband systems Draws together UWB theory by using case-studies to show applications of antennas and propagation in communication, radar and imaging systems The book highlights the unique design issues of using ultra-wideband and will serve both as an introductory text and a reference guide for designers and students alike.
