Book Stability Theory of Differential Equations

Download or read book Stability Theory of Differential Equations written by Richard Bellman and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-02-20 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, this was the first English-language text to offer detailed coverage of boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of linear and nonlinear differential equations. It remains a classic guide, featuring material from original research papers, including the author's own studies. The linear equation with constant and almost-constant coefficients receives in-depth attention that includes aspects of matrix theory. No previous acquaintance with the theory is necessary, since author Richard Bellman derives the results in matrix theory from the beginning. In regard to the stability of nonlinear systems, results of the linear theory are used to drive the results of Poincaré and Liapounoff. Professor Bellman then surveys important results concerning the boundedness, stability, and asymptotic behavior of second-order linear differential equations. The final chapters explore significant nonlinear differential equations whose solutions may be completely described in terms of asymptotic behavior. Only real solutions of real equations are considered, and the treatment emphasizes the behavior of these solutions as the independent variable increases without limit.

Book The Analysis of Nonlinear Feedback Sampled data Systems

Download or read book The Analysis of Nonlinear Feedback Sampled data Systems written by Mangalore Anantha Pai and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various techniques are available for the analysis of nonlinear sampled-data systems. Most of these methods use either the phase plane approach or the describing function technique. Since the performance of such a system is described, at sampling instants, by means of a difference equation, an approach based on the difference equation would seem to be both natural and direct. The principle of complex convolution for a transform is explained and its geometrical interpretation is given. It is shown how the application of the convolution transform is both direct and simple with respect to solving nonlinear difference equations when the equation is given in scalar form. Dependence of the convergence of the solution on the initial value and the degree of nonlinearity is pointed out. It is concluded that for difference equations of second order and higher, this method involves too much laborious computation to justify its use. A simple method is presented for examining free oscillations in a sampled-data system containing either relay or a saturating amplifier. In addition, a certain analytical technique, analogous to that for differential equations, is developed to investigate the stability of forced oscillations for certain types of nonlinear difference equations. Book Non Linear Differential Equations

Download or read book Non Linear Differential Equations written by G. Sansone and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 67: Non-Linear Differential Equations, Revised Edition focuses on the analysis of the phase portrait of two-dimensional autonomous systems; qualitative methods used in finding periodic solutions in periodic systems; and study of asymptotic properties. The book first discusses general theorems about solutions of differential systems. Periodic solutions, autonomous systems, and integral curves are explained. The text explains the singularities of Briot-Bouquet theory. The selection takes a look at plane autonomous systems. Topics include limiting sets, plane cycles, isolated singular points, index, and the torus as phase space. The text also examines autonomous plane systems with perturbations and autonomous and non-autonomous systems with one degree of freedom. The book also tackles linear systems. Reducible systems, periodic solutions, and linear periodic systems are considered. The book is a vital source of information for readers interested in applied mathematics.
