Book Boundary value Problems with Free Boundaries for Elliptic Systems of Equations

Download or read book Boundary value Problems with Free Boundaries for Elliptic Systems of Equations written by Valentin Nikolaevich Monakhov and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1983 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with certain classes of nonlinear problems for elliptic systems of partial differential equations: boundary-value problems with free boundaries. The first part has to do with the general theory of boundary-value problems for analytic functions and its applications to hydrodynamics. The second presents the theory of quasiconformal mappings, along with the theory of boundary-value problems for elliptic systems of equations and applications of it to problems in the mechanics of continuous media with free boundaries: problems in subsonic gas dynamics, filtration theory, and problems in elastico-plasticity.

Book Boundary Value Problems for Elliptic Systems

Download or read book Boundary Value Problems for Elliptic Systems written by J. T. Wloka and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-07-28 with total page 659 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of boundary value problems for elliptic systems of partial differential equations has many applications in mathematics and the physical sciences. The aim of this book is to "algebraize" the index theory by means of pseudo-differential operators and new methods in the spectral theory of matrix polynomials. This latter theory provides important tools that will enable the student to work efficiently with the principal symbols of the elliptic and boundary operators on the boundary. Because many new methods and results are introduced and used throughout the book, all the theorems are proved in detail, and the methods are well illustrated through numerous examples and exercises. This book is ideal for use in graduate level courses on partial differential equations, elliptic systems, pseudo-differential operators, and matrix analysis.

Book Boundary Value Problems For Second Order Elliptic Equations

Download or read book Boundary Value Problems For Second Order Elliptic Equations written by A.V. Bitsadze and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 5: Boundary Value Problems: For Second Order Elliptic Equations is a revised and augmented version of a lecture course on non-Fredholm elliptic boundary value problems, delivered at the Novosibirsk State University in the academic year 1964-1965. This seven-chapter text is devoted to a study of the basic linear boundary value problems for linear second order partial differential equations, which satisfy the condition of uniform ellipticity. The opening chapter deals with the fundamental aspects of the linear equations theory in normed linear spaces. This topic is followed by discussions on solutions of elliptic equations and the formulation of Dirichlet problem for a second order elliptic equation. A chapter focuses on the solution equation for the directional derivative problem. Another chapter surveys the formulation of the Poincaré problem for second order elliptic systems in two independent variables. This chapter also examines the theory of one-dimensional singular integral equations that allow the investigation of highly important classes of boundary value problems. The final chapter looks into other classes of multidimensional singular integral equations and related boundary value problems.

This book was released on 1994 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is devoted to boundary value problems for general partial differential equations. Efficient methods of resolution of boundary value problems for elliptic equations, based on the theory of analytic functions and having great theoretical and practical importance are developed.A new approach to the investigation of electromagnetic fields is sketched, permitting laws of propagation of electromagnetic energy at a great distance, is outlined and asymptotic formulae for solutions of Maxwell's equation is obtained. These equations are also applied to the efficient resolution of problems. The book is based mostly on the investigation of the author, a considerable part of which being published for the first time.

Book Elliptic Equations in Polyhedral Domains

Download or read book Elliptic Equations in Polyhedral Domains written by V. G. Maz_i_a and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2010-04-22 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first monograph which systematically treats elliptic boundary value problems in domains of polyhedral type. The authors mainly describe their own recent results focusing on the Dirichlet problem for linear strongly elliptic systems of arbitrary order, Neumann and mixed boundary value problems for second order systems, and on boundary value problems for the stationary Stokes and Navier-Stokes systems. A feature of the book is the systematic use of Green's matrices. Using estimates for the elements of these matrices, the authors obtain solvability and regularity theorems for the solutions in weighted and non-weighted Sobolev and Holder spaces. Some classical problems of mathematical physics (Laplace and biharmonic equations, Lame system) are considered as examples. Furthermore, the book contains maximum modulus estimates for the solutions and their derivatives. The exposition is self-contained, and an introductory chapter provides background material on the theory of elliptic boundary value problems in domains with smooth boundaries and in domains with conical points. The book is destined for graduate students and researchers working in elliptic partial differential equations and applications.

Book On Fundamental Boundary Value Problems for General Elliptic Systems of Second Order with Two Independent Variables

Download or read book On Fundamental Boundary Value Problems for General Elliptic Systems of Second Order with Two Independent Variables written by A. Dzhuraev and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Necessary and sufficient conditions are found for normal solvability of Dirichlet and Poincare boundary-value problems for a system with an arbitrary finite number of equations, and also formulas for the index of the above-mentioned boundary-value problems. The conditions and formulas can be very easily expressed in terms of the coefficients of the system and of the boundary conditions. The method is based on the tools of the theory of generalized analytic functions developed by I.N. Vekua. (Author).

Book Elliptic Boundary Value Problems in the Spaces of Distributions

Download or read book Elliptic Boundary Value Problems in the Spaces of Distributions written by Y. Roitberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume endeavours to summarise all available data on the theorems on isomorphisms and their ever increasing number of possible applications. It deals with the theory of solvability in generalised functions of general boundary-value problems for elliptic equations. In the early sixties, Lions and Magenes, and Berezansky, Krein and Roitberg established the theorems on complete collection of isomorphisms. Further progress of the theory was connected with proving the theorem on complete collection of isomorphisms for new classes of problems, and hence with the development of new methods to prove these theorems. The theorems on isomorphisms were first established for elliptic equations with normal boundary conditions. However, after the Noetherian property of elliptic problems was proved without assuming the normality of the boundary expressions, this became the natural way to consider the problems of establishing the theorems on isomorphisms for general elliptic problems. The present author's method of solving this problem enabled proof of the theorem on complete collection of isomorphisms for the operators generated by elliptic boundary-value problems for general systems of equations. Audience: This monograph will be of interest to mathematicians whose work involves partial differential equations, functional analysis, operator theory and the mathematics of mechanics.

Book Elliptic Boundary Value Problems with Fractional Regularity Data

Download or read book Elliptic Boundary Value Problems with Fractional Regularity Data written by Alex Amenta and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2018-04-03 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A co-publication of the AMS and Centre de Recherches Mathématiques In this monograph the authors study the well-posedness of boundary value problems of Dirichlet and Neumann type for elliptic systems on the upper half-space with coefficients independent of the transversal variable and with boundary data in fractional Hardy–Sobolev and Besov spaces. The authors use the so-called “first order approach” which uses minimal assumptions on the coefficients and thus allows for complex coefficients and for systems of equations. This self-contained exposition of the first order approach offers new results with detailed proofs in a clear and accessible way and will become a valuable reference for graduate students and researchers working in partial differential equations and harmonic analysis.

Book Optimization in Solving Elliptic Problems

Download or read book Optimization in Solving Elliptic Problems written by Eugene G. D'yakonov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization in Solving Elliptic Problems focuses on one of the most interesting and challenging problems of computational mathematics - the optimization of numerical algorithms for solving elliptic problems. It presents detailed discussions of how asymptotically optimal algorithms may be applied to elliptic problems to obtain numerical solutions meeting certain specified requirements. Beginning with an outline of the fundamental principles of numerical methods, this book describes how to construct special modifications of classical finite element methods such that for the arising grid systems, asymptotically optimal iterative methods can be applied. Optimization in Solving Elliptic Problems describes the construction of computational algorithms resulting in the required accuracy of a solution and having a pre-determined computational complexity. Construction of asymptotically optimal algorithms is demonstrated for multi-dimensional elliptic boundary value problems under general conditions. In addition, algorithms are developed for eigenvalue problems and Navier-Stokes problems. The development of these algorithms is based on detailed discussions of topics that include accuracy estimates of projective and difference methods, topologically equivalent grids and triangulations, general theorems on convergence of iterative methods, mixed finite element methods for Stokes-type problems, methods of solving fourth-order problems, and methods for solving classical elasticity problems. Furthermore, the text provides methods for managing basic iterative methods such as domain decomposition and multigrid methods. These methods, clearly developed and explained in the text, may be used to develop algorithms for solving applied elliptic problems. The mathematics necessary to understand the development of such algorithms is provided in the introductory material within the text, and common specifications of algorithms that have been developed for typical problems in mathema
