Book Gulf Et Al Tarsiut Island Research Program

Download or read book Gulf Et Al Tarsiut Island Research Program written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tarsiut Island, located within the Gulf Canada Resources Inc. Acreage (see Fig. 1.1), is the first concrete caisson-retained island in the Canadian Beaufort Sea. The island was constructed during the late 1980-81 time period and drilling of the first exploratory well, Tarsiut N-44, commenced in December 1981. In order to gain Government approval to construct, occupy and drill from the island, the stability of the island had to be demonstrated on a real time basis. To accomplish this an extensive state-of-the-art instrumentation monitoring system was developed and commissioned. Beyond the stability monitoring instrumentation, the island was extensively instrumented to gain supplementary research information to provide full scale performance data on wide structures in ice-infested waters. Data acquisition, including the ice and meteorological environment, associated loads and the island's geotechnical and structural response, started with the set-down of the concrete caissons in September 1981. Since then, a large volume of data has been collected within the well defined Tarsiut Island Research Program (TIRP). The TIRP covers the period from November 1981 to September 1, 1982. The information is stored on approximately 100 magnetic tapes suitable for use on high speed computers while descriptive data is provided on approximately 120 video tapes and numerous photographs. Detailed documentation is given in about 30 reports which supplement and describe the information on the tapes"--Leaf 1.

Book Preliminary Island Rig Requirement Study

Download or read book Preliminary Island Rig Requirement Study written by Tri Ocean Engineering Ltd and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Canadian Marine Drilling Ltd. is at present undertaking a conceptual evaluation of an all season caisson-retained island for drilling and production in the Beaufort Sea. This preliminary report prepared in accordance with Dome purchase order No. 114646 comprises a brief investigation by Tri Ocean Engineering Ltd. into the primary drilling requirements for initial exploratory drilling conducted on a caisson-retained island. The preliminary nature of this report is emphasized since it is aimed at setting out broad requirements and alternatives without the benefit of sufficient time to undertake a detailed feasibility and economic study. The information contained herein is therefore largely based on past experience, approximate estimates, and information supplied by Canmar. ... A preliminary report of this type can provide few definitive conclusions; rather, the report outlines alternatives, suggests some of the more important criteria for success of the project - defines the urgency, and points to areas requiring detailed study as a next step. Three alternative rig concepts studied are the modified land rig, modular rig, and hybrid rig. All of these types can be arranged to fit on a caisson-retained drilling island complete with all consumables needed for drilling and completing a 4875 m deep well, although a conventional land rig requires a larger work area of approximately 75 metres by 75 metres. The modular or hybrid types are best accommodated on the island because they can be designed to incorporate features desirable for an island rig. The most important of these features are compactness and built-in flexibility to allow incorporation into a future production system. ... Preliminary activity schedules indicate that if the rig is to be on the caisson retained island by the milestone date of October 15, 1981, it is imperative that the rig type be selected immediately. Adherence to the schedule is very dependent on a thoroughly pre-planned island mobilization program, and latest completion of the caisson retained island should be scheduled for mid-September, 1981. ... [This report includes] a summary of the main features of each alternative rig concept studied"--ASTIS database.

Book Report on Wave Action Around Caisson Retained Artificial Islands

Download or read book Report on Wave Action Around Caisson Retained Artificial Islands written by J. T. Judge and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report provides details on 1:75 scale hydraulic model tests performed in the wave basin at the National Water Research Institute, Burlington, Ontario. The tests were conducted in order to provide preliminary data on the freeboard requirements for various geometries of caisson retained artificial islands. Such islands are envisioned for oil production facilities in the Beaufort Sea. In addition, data were obtained for the purpose of aiding the development of mathematical model(s) capable of predicting the freeboard requirements of such artificial islands. Test objectives and procedures are outlined and the test data are presented and discussed. Conclusions, recommendations, and appendices are provided in order to aid immediate and future users of the data obtained"--Leaf ii.
