Book Program Evaluation and Review Technique PERT A Planning and Control Tool for Occupational Field Studies

Download or read book Program Evaluation and Review Technique PERT A Planning and Control Tool for Occupational Field Studies written by and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PERT is a management tool that makes possible more accurate, more objective, and more rapid planning and control of a complex project. Applied research by the ONR-MC Task Analysis project staff indicated that a full description of PERT and its applications to Occupational Field (OF) studies would be of operational value to the Office of Manpower Utilization (OMU), HQ, USMC. This report on PERT is designed to serve two purposes. First, it can be used as training material for new personnel to introduce them to techniques of planning and control in OF studies. Second, it can provide ready reference materials for individuals directly involved in designing, directing, planning, and controlling OF studies. The description of PERT in this report is specifically addressed to Task Analysis as conducted by the Marine Corps. Accordingly, the various steps, events and activities used as illustrations in the application of PERT employ the terminology of the different phases of OMU's Task Analysis process.

Book Program Planning and Evaluation for the Public Manager

Download or read book Program Planning and Evaluation for the Public Manager written by Ronald D. Sylvia and published by Waveland Press. This book was released on 2012-03-21 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an era of rapidly shrinking resources, efficient utilization of public resources is of paramount importance. Health care, social services, education, law enforcement, and other fields have established their own standards against which program operations are assessed. National accrediting bodies have implemented systems of rigorous peer review to ensure the quality of program processes and outcomes. Nongovernmental organizations must demonstrate success in achieving their stated goals in order to sustain or expand program funding. In the 21st century, process (how programs are organized and how work is conducted) has become as important as outcomes in determining program effectiveness. Responding to these dynamic challenges, the authors utilize concrete case studies to immerse students in the techniques of program evaluation. They effectively examine systems theory, project planning, queuing theory, cost-benefit analysis, and organization processes (including standards-based program accreditation), providing practical examples in an easy-to-comprehend style. In addition, comprehensive discussions explain how process intervention is utilized to achieve program adaptations and strategic change. Like its highly regarded predecessors, the latest edition features evaluation exercises designed to facilitate student development of indicators and measures when dealing with real-world programs. An Instructors Manual provides solutions to the case studies in the appendix of the text, further clarifying the program planning and evaluation process.

Book Program Evaluation Theory and Practice First Edition

Download or read book Program Evaluation Theory and Practice First Edition written by Donna M. Mertens and published by Guilford Press. This book was released on 2012-03-01 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This engaging text takes an evenhanded approach to major theoretical paradigms in evaluation and builds a bridge from them to evaluation practice. Featuring helpful checklists, procedural steps, provocative questions that invite readers to explore their own theoretical assumptions, and practical exercises, the book provides concrete guidance for conducting large- and small-scale evaluations. Numerous sample studies—many with reflective commentary from the evaluators—reveal the process through which an evaluator incorporates a paradigm into an actual research project. The book shows how theory informs methodological choices (the specifics of planning, implementing, and using evaluations). It offers balanced coverage of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. Useful pedagogical features include: *Examples of large- and small-scale evaluations from multiple disciplines. *Beginning-of-chapter reflection questions that set the stage for the material covered. *"Extending your thinking" questions and practical activities that help readers apply particular theoretical paradigms in their own evaluation projects. *Relevant Web links, including pathways to more details about sampling, data collection, and analysis. *Boxes offering a closer look at key evaluation concepts and additional studies. *Checklists for readers to determine if they have followed recommended practice.
