Download or read book Preconcentration Techniques For Trace Elements written by Zeev Alfassi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1991-12-07 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accurate determination of trace elements is critical in various fields of science and technology. Direct measurement of trace elements in samples with complex matrices is often impractical, either due to analytical sensitivity limitations or matrix interferences. Preconcentration procedures are generally needed to eliminate matrix interferences and/or enrich minute amounts of analytes to a level for reliable measurements. Preconcentration Techniques for Trace Elements provides up-to-date information on various preconcentration techniques and detailed discussions regarding such topics as the dissolution of matrices, coprecipitation, solvent extraction, electrochemical means, ion exchange, sorption, chromatographic methods, flotation, membranes, volatization, polymer foam sorbents, fire assay, isotachophoresis, and filter papers. This comprehensive volume, featuring contributions from 21 experts from nine countries, will provide valuable reference material for all scientists and technicians dealing with trace analysis of real-world samples.

Download or read book Instability Constants of Complex Compounds written by K. B. Yatsimirskii and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years many research workers have turned their attention to the quantitative characterization of complex compounds and reactions of complex-formation in solution. Instability constants characterize quantitatively the equili bria in solutions of complex compounds and are extensively used by chemists of widely-varying specialities, in analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, the technology of non-ferrous and rare metals, etc., for calculations of various kinds. Despite the wealth of numerical data, no reasonably full coliection of instability constants of complex compounds has been made until now. The various individual collections of data are far from complete and in most cases omit references to the source materials. Moreover, the present state of the chemistry of complex compounds most urgently demands the complete systematization of data on instability constants and an extension of work in this field which would take advantage of the latest physico-chemical methods. The present work contains instability constants for 1,381 complex compounds. We have considered it convenient to preface the summary of the instability constants with an introductory section of a general theoretical character. This section deals with methods for the calculation of instability constants from experimental data, the influence of external conditions, such as temperature and ionic strength, on the stability of com plexes, and the principal factors determining the stability of complex compounds in aqueous solution. (vii) PREFACE In compiling the summary we have used the original litera ture and abstracts for the most part up to 1954, and some work published in 1955-1956.

Download or read book Foams written by J.J. Bikerman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Foams: Theory and Industrial Applications, written by the undersigned and three collaborators and published in 1953, is still the only monograph on liquid foam in the English language. Naturally the science of foams had advanced in the intervening years so that a practically new book had to be prepared to give justice to the present state of our know ledge. This monograph has only one author and does not deal with solid foams, fire-fighting foams, and flotation, on which information is available elsewhere. The other applications of foam and its fundamental properties are reviewed at length and, whenever possible, attempts are made to reach the truth through a maze of conflicting evidence. Download or read book Proteomic Profiling and Analytical Chemistry written by Pawel Ciborowski and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proteomic Profiling and Analytical Chemistry: The Crossroads, Second Edition helps scientists without a strong background in analytical chemistry to understand principles of the multistep proteomic experiment necessary for its successful completion. It also helps researchers who do have an analytical chemistry background to break into the proteomics field. Highlighting points of junction between proteomics and analytical chemistry, this resource links experimental design with analytical measurements, data analysis, and quality control. This targeted point of view will help both biologists and chemists to better understand all components of a complex proteomic study. The book provides detailed coverage of experimental aspects such as sample preparation, protein extraction and precipitation, gel electrophoresis, microarrays, dynamics of fluorescent dyes, and more. The key feature of this book is a direct link between multistep proteomic strategy and quality control routinely applied in analytical chemistry. This second edition features a new chapter on SWATH-MS, substantial updates to all chapters, including proteomic database search and analytical quantification, expanded discussion of post-hoc statistical tests, and additional content on validation in proteomics. - Covers the analytical consequences of protein and peptide modifications that may have a profound effect on how and what researchers actually measure - Includes practical examples illustrating the importance of problems in quantitation and validation of biomarkers - Helps in designing and executing proteomic experiments with sound analytics
