What kinds of interaction did they have with other people? Staying true to the biblical story, this novel attempts to fill in some of the gaps and make them a little more real to us. Emotions play a large part in their lives just like they do in ours.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Japan and Back is an important book because of its raw honesty about the missionary experience. Most missionary books paper over the hard stuff, but Japan and Back hits it straight on. Some readers may be shocked, but sending churches, mission agencies, and young people thinking about missions need to read this book and learn from its message." - Dan Ellrick, missionary in Japan of over 20 years Joey Stoll had no clue what he was getting into when he went to rural Japan as a long-term missionary. He left full of excitement and arrived in a world very different from what he expected. Among hilarious experiences living in a foreign culture and while receiving miracles of God's grace, he faced questions like: What should missionary service look like? What do we do when struggling with depression? How do we process losing places and people we care deeply for? Compiled in short chapters written as stories, devotions, and journal entries, this is one missionary's strange journey to the Land of the Rising Sun and an equally strange journey of returning to his own culture.

Book Long Strange Journey

Download or read book Long Strange Journey written by Patrick G. Eddington and published by . This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: January 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of the start of Operation Desert Storm, as well as two decades of continuous American military involvement in the Persian Gulf region. A number of questions about that first Gulf War and its consequences have never been answered. Why was President George H.W. Bush so surprised that Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait? Did America s intelligence community fail to warn him of the threat, or did he ignore their predictions of an invasion? Why did the CIA and the Pentagon deny so vehemently for so long that sick Desert Storm veterans were exposed to Iraq s chemical agents? Patrick G. Eddington tackles these and other questions in Long Strange Journey: An Intelligence Memoir, which details his career as a military analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency from 1988 to 1996. Long Strange Journey is a first-person account of the high-tech, space-based side of the intelligence business. Although President Carter first revealed the existence of our imagery spy satellites nearly 30 years ago, no analyst who has used those systems has written a book on the topic and got it past CIA censors until now. Eddington s tenure at the CIA spanned the transition from the Cold War to the new era of American interventionism in the Persian Gulf and the Balkans. The book draws upon not only his direct experience reporting on these events for senior government policy makers, but also upon thousands of pages of previously classified documents secured through litigation he pursued during the last decade.

Book Strange Journey

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This biographical history follows the iconoclastic career of John R. Friedeberg Seeley, pre-eminent “Pop Sociologist” and Mental Health Activist of the 1950s. Seeley’s "strange journey" began as a British Home Child, estranged from his cosmopolitan German-Jewish family. Seeley progressed through the ranks of the Canadian Army Medical Corps, and the University of Chicago, to achieve prominence as the author of Crestwood Heights, a defining work of postwar social science. He led an ambitious mental health project in Canadian schools, and was a founding father of York University. However, Seeley’s struggle with mental illness and Jewish identity brought him into conflict with the Canadian establishment. His career ended in academic exile, but his dream of a mental health revolution still resonates.

Download or read book My Journey written by Ramsis F. Ghaly MD FACS and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-01-17 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My journey is documented in this two-volume book numbers 14th and 15th of my series “Christianity and the Human Brain”. My journey is a testimony to Lord Jesus who took me by the hand from being a dismal soul to a renown neurosurgeon and anesthesiologist through a dream I had in 1974 with his words: “Son study all these books in my hand and I shall bless you and bless your patients”. Why medicine? Why study the brain and the nervous system? This is the story of my calling, which had a pessimistic reputation among students and doctors at that time. For me, it was a window to experience the Hand of God in man, and I dedicate all that I had to the Human brain and Neuroscience. Nothing since then has been able to detour me from my intense mission and passion which my Lord set before me. As I am a minority Christian in Egypt, a religion persecuted continually, with obstacles unending yet conquered. Doors were shut before my eyes. Unexpectedly, plan “A” was surrendered as the right door opened. Thus, the birth of my divine journey in Medicine and Neuroscience began. Today, 35 years later, I continue to dedicate my life to my Lord, my patients and the residents I mentor. The fulfillment of my joy is when my Almighty helps me to care for my patients and guides my hand in both neurosurgery and the teaching of coming generations. There are many stories and reflections to share with you. Lessons learned in various topics. It is my honor to share with you my journey and my Joy. The two volume books contain 181 chapters, distributed in twenty sections (ten in each volume) covering major highlights in my life journey. In addition to deep reflections from my own life stories in faith and medicine, topics include Jesus, love, patient care, the human brain, neurosurgery, illness, residents, healthcare crises, meditations and memories over four decades. I hope you, the reader, to take the positives of my journey and find it useful to your own journey as a participant sojourning in this world with me. Blessed are those striving early on in their life to serve our Savior Jesus Christ, to him is the glory for ever and ever, Amen.

Time has no meaning, yet this Dark World remains due to its being shrouded in evil personified. The evil lord of this realm is Vacak, who has given birth to his three children, Uki, Deitra, and Demondog. Vacak wants immortality and has an impending coronation forthcoming, but there is one obstacle in his way, and that is his daughter Deitra. When she was a young woman, her brother Uki made a decision, either to betray his father by not telling him he had taken her to Earth or to leave her there to be bitten by Vacak, therefore losing her power to prevent Vacak from becoming immortal. He decided to take her to Earth for what he hoped would be a safe haven. Vacak suspected treachery of his oldest son but had no proof. Instead, he commanded that Uki travel to Earth by way of the cosmos to see if Deitra was living there. He had to find her and turn her into a vampire before his coronation because she was the only one to prevent his transformation due to the fact she was still pure.
