Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With contributions from some of the world's leading experts, the second edition of this classic reference compiles all major techniques of flow visualization and demonstrates their applications in all fields of science and technology. A new chapter has been added that covers flow visualization applications in large wide tunnels for airplane and automobile testing. Several important examples of applications are included. A second new chapter details the use of infrared (IR) cameras for detecting and observing the boundary layer transition in industrial wind tunnels and flight testing of commercial transport airplanes. A final new chapter has been added on multiphase flow and pulsed-light velocimetry.

Book Fluid Mechanics for Engineers

Download or read book Fluid Mechanics for Engineers written by Meinhard T. Schobeiri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-27 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contents of this book covers the material required in the Fluid Mechanics Graduate Core Course (MEEN-621) and in Advanced Fluid Mechanics, a Ph. D-level elective course (MEEN-622), both of which I have been teaching at Texas A&M University for the past two decades. While there are numerous undergraduate fluid mechanics texts on the market for engineering students and instructors to choose from, there are only limited texts that comprehensively address the particular needs of graduate engineering fluid mechanics courses. To complement the lecture materials, the instructors more often recommend several texts, each of which treats special topics of fluid mechanics. This circumstance and the need to have a textbook that covers the materials needed in the above courses gave the impetus to provide the graduate engineering community with a coherent textbook that comprehensively addresses their needs for an advanced fluid mechanics text. Although this text book is primarily aimed at mechanical engineering students, it is equally suitable for aerospace engineering, civil engineering, other engineering disciplines, and especially those practicing professionals who perform CFD-simulation on a routine basis and would like to know more about the underlying physics of the commercial codes they use. Furthermore, it is suitable for self study, provided that the reader has a sufficient knowledge of calculus and differential equations. In the past, because of the lack of advanced computational capability, the subject of fluid mechanics was artificially subdivided into inviscid, viscous (laminar, turbulent), incompressible, compressible, subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic flows.

Book Magnetic Effects on Fluid Flow through a Rotating Straight Rectangular Duct

Download or read book Magnetic Effects on Fluid Flow through a Rotating Straight Rectangular Duct written by Md Kamruzzaman and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2018-05-18 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Physics - Electrodynamics, grade: 3, Khulna University, language: English, abstract: Fluid flow in a straight duct is of great importance. It has large applications in chemical and mechanical engineering. A lot of research works regarding fully developed flow have been carried out at different times. The aim of this thesis is to make some numerical calculations on the fluid flow in a rotating rectangular straight duct in presence of magnetic field which has been interested to the engineering communication and to the investigators dealing with the problem in many industrial applications. The results of this investigation may not have direct practical applications but are relevant to the problems mentioned above. The fluid flowing through a rectangular straight duct to rotate at a constant angular velocity about an axis normal to a plane including the duct is subjected to both Coriolis and centrifugal forces. Such rotating passages are used in cooling systems for conductors of electric generators. Flow in a rotating straight pipe is of interest because the secondary flows in this case are qualitatively similar to those in stationary curved system in view of the similar centrifugal mechanism including the secondary curved systems.
