Book A Search for Squarks and Gluinos Using the Jets and Missing Energy Signature at D 0

Download or read book A Search for Squarks and Gluinos Using the Jets and Missing Energy Signature at D 0 written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis reports on a search for evidence of production and decay of squarks (q) and gluinos (g) of Minimal Supergravity (mSUGRA) in p{bar p} collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Data corresponding to 79.2 ± 4.2 pb−1 were examined for events with large missing transverse energy (E{sub T}), three or more jets, high energy leading jet, and the absence of isolated leptons. Since no events were observed in excess of Standard Model background predictions, limits are placed in the mSUGRA M0 - M{sub {1/2}} plane for fixed parameters tan? = 2, A{sub o} = 0, and?

This book was released on 2006 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of a search for squarks and gluinos using data from ppbar collisions recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider are reported. The topologies analyzed consist of acoplanar-jet and multijet events with large missing transverse energy. No evidence for the production of squarks or gluinos was found in a data sample of 310 pb-1. Lower limits of 325 and 241 GeV were derived at the 95% C.L. on the squark and gluino masses, respectively, within the framework of minimal supergravity with tan[beta]=3, A0=0, and mu

Book excerpt: Based on 7.1 pb−1 of single interaction event data collected by the DO Detector at Fermilab during the 1992--1993 p{bar p} collider run at (square root)s = 1.8 TeV, results are presented of a search for supersymmetric partners of the quark and gluon, the squark and gluino, using missing E{sub T} and jets as the signature. Limits are set on the squark and gluino masses in the context of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model including the effect of cascade decays of the squark and gluino.

Download or read book Search for Squarks and Gluinos with the D0 Detector written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report on D0 searches for scalar quarks ({tilde q}) and gluinos ({tilde g}), the superpartners of quark and gluons, in topologies involving jets and missing transverse energies. Data samples obtained with D0 detector from p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosities of 1-4 fb−1 were analyzed. No evidence for the production of such particles were observed and lower limits on squarks and gluino masses were set.

Book excerpt: This contribution reports on preliminary measurements of searches for squarks and gluinos at CDF and D0 detectors in p{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV using 1 fb−1 of data. The analyses are optimized for event topologies with multiple jets and large missing transverse energy in the final state. No excess with respect to the Standard Model predictions is observed and new limits on the gluino and squark masses are extracted in a mSUGRA scenario with R-parity conservation.

Book Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Events Containing Jets and a Large Imbalance in Transverse Energy

Download or read book Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Events Containing Jets and a Large Imbalance in Transverse Energy written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79 pb−1, D0 has searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse energy in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the standard model, they set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the model parameters m0 and m12, in the framework of the minimal low-energy supergravity models of supersymmetry. For tan [beta] = 2 and A0 = 0, with [mu]

Book Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Final States with Jets and Missing Transverse Momentum at u221A s

Download or read book Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Final States with Jets and Missing Transverse Momentum at u221A s written by and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, a search for squarks and gluinos in final states containing hadronic jets, missing transverse momentum but no electrons or muons is presented. The data were recorded in 2015 by the ATLAS experiment in √s=13 TeV proton–proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation was observed in 3.2 fb-1 of analyzed data. Results are interpreted within simplified models that assume R-parity is conserved and the neutralino is the lightest supersymmetric particle. An exclusion limit at the 95 % confidence level on the mass of the gluino is set at 1.51 TeV for a simplified model incorporating only a gluino octet and the lightest neutralino, assuming the lightest neutralino is massless. For a simplified model involving the strong production of mass-degenerate first- and second-generation squarks, squark masses below 1.03 TeV are excluded for a massless lightest neutralino. Finally, these limits substantially extend the region of supersymmetric parameter space excluded by previous measurements with the ATLAS detector.

Book Search Strategies for New Physics at the LHC

Download or read book Search Strategies for New Physics at the LHC written by Daniele Spier Moreira Alves and published by Stanford University. This book was released on 2011 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The LHC is in the frontline of experimental searches for New Physics beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics. Its power is accompanied by no smaller challenges in analyzing and interpreting its results. In this thesis I explore ways to parameterize new physics phenomena, design search strategies that are sensitive to them, and interpret experimental results in general new physics contexts. In particular, I discuss interpretations of the first ATLAS analysis for supersymmetry with 70/nb of integrated luminosity. I also carry a careful investigation of comprehensive search strategies for new physics with jets and missing energy signatures, and estimate the sensitivity bounds of the 7 TeV LHC to new colored particles decaying to jets and and a neutral particle that escapes detection. Finally, I discuss the implications of the recent LHC excesses hinting to a Higgs boson with mass in the range 142-147 GeV. If confirmed, this range for the Higgs mass will be an important evidence for Split Supersymmetry. I work out the phenomenological predictions of this scenario that will be tested in the very near future by a variety of experiments, including direct and indirect dark matter detection, EDM experiments searching for CP violation and the 7 TeV run of the LHC.
