The telling of folk stories at one time formed an integral part of 'wakes', a tradition where family and friends gathered to remember their deceased loved ones. It is hoped that this collection will encourage Saint Lucians to once again 'teway leestwaar' (relate stories) as a form of entertainment. Although designed for young students, this collection will appeal to adults and anyone interested in the culture of Saint Lucia. Some of the original folktales were considered too crude and were modified out of consideration for young readers.
