Download or read book The Body Speaks written by David Rosenfeld and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the author's pioneering work with severely disturbed patients, to show what it means to work and think as a psychoanalyst about transference and the internal world of a psychotic patient, with all the difficulties involved in continuing to treat and engage with even severely ill patients. As the author suggests, to be a psychoanalyst is to think about transference, the patient's internal world and projective identifications onto the therapist and onto persons in the external world. In particular, the author examines patients who express their mental state through fantasies about their body image. For example, the fantasy of an emptying of the self is discussed through the case of the patient Pierre, who asserts that he has no more blood or liquids in his body. Similarly, the fantasies of a young man who says that bats are flying out of his cheeks incarnate the anxiety of his first months of life expressed through his body. Indeed, the author's particular focus is on the importance of the first months and years in the life of these patients.

Download or read book The Psychotic written by David Rosenfeld and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-22 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Psychotic: Aspects of the Personality presents the results of the author's many years of experience as an analyst working with deeply disturbed or psychotic patients, and demonstrates how the deeply resulting clinical and theoretical formulations may additionally be applied to less disturbed patients. Dealing with the theory and clinical treatment of the psychotic aspects of the personality, includes a review of the literature and a rich array of clinical material to illustrate the author's technical approach. A chapter devoted to the survivors of concentration camps shows how the concept of encapsulated autistic nuclei leads to new diagnostic and technical procedures, while a further paper discusses the psychotic difficulties attending heart-transplant surgery. Further essays illuminate the importance of the accurate detection and the use of the countertransference and the significance of the supervisor's supportive role in severe cases.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Collection of Articles written by Joseph L. Purington which were submitted to, and published by, the Southern Baptist Messenger and Signs of the Times periodicals. While reading these articles, one may learn much history, and will be edified in the most holy faith of God's elect. An unintended side benefit in reading these will be a growing sense of the turbulent religious upheaval of his day, as equal to the extreme religious frenzy now possessing modern so-called churches. The screams, shaking, jumping, racket-making, arm-slinging, madness once noted in Scripture of the followers of Baal at Mt. Carmel, and the present-day Voodooism of the Caribbean somewhat identify the natural religion of this world's adoption, and falsely claim, to be "Christianity". One may compare the quiet, humble, and reverent worship of Zion with that of contemporary American noisy and carnal religion. Stanley C. Phillips

Are you longing to be a cross-cultural leader who can guide the church into a multicolored world for the sake of the gospel? If so, Building a Multiethnic Church will give you the tools to embrace an invigorated community of grace, love, and reconciliation. In Building a Multiethnic Church, bestselling author and pastor Dr. Derwin Gray calls all churches and their leaders to grow out of ignorance, classism, racism, and greed into a flourishing, vibrant, and grace-filled community of believers. Drawing on wisdom from the early church and the New Testament, Gray will help you understand that planting and transforming churches into multiethnic communities is a biblical calling; identify and implement the best practices to help build multiethnic churches; and recognize that reconciliation between ethnic groups in the church is not just a social issue, but a theological issue that cannot be ignored. -- Previously published as The High-Definition Leader, now revised and updated--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States is know as the “Great Melting Pot,” yet a survey of our churches on Sunday Morning would reveal a noticeably different portrait of our ethnic make-up. Every facet of American culture is multi-ethnic. Yet, the Church is not. The church is segregated. Drawing from scripture, Derwin shows how the modern church is suffering from being homogenous and how we are not fulfilling our calling as effectively as we should be. The High-Definition Leader is a call for churches and their leaders to grow out of ignorance, class-ism, racism, and greed into a flourishing and vibrant community of believers united in their devotion to serving God and sharing His love with the world.
