Book Training Analysis and Feedback Aids TAAF Aids Study for Live Training Support

Download or read book Training Analysis and Feedback Aids TAAF Aids Study for Live Training Support written by Bill R. Brown and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Maneuver Combat Training Center (CTC) and home station requirements for exercise control and training feedback are intensive. With the advent of battlefield digitization; tactical decision aids; smart, intelligent, and brilliant munitions; advances in non-lethal weapons, and new reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA) systems, the workload for trainers continues to spiral. Force modernization is creating new control and feedback tasks that have the potential to rob trainers of time they would otherwise spend observing, coaching, and facilitating the learning of exercise players. This study: (1) Identifies the impact of force modernization on future exercise control and training feedback functions. (2) Identifies tasks involved in after-action review (AAR) preparation, observer/controller (OC) coordination and mentoring, and take-home package construction. (3) Provides strategies to reduce OC and Training Analysis Facility (TAF) workload. (4) Identifies payoffs in task reduction achieved by each strategy. (5) Does not provide technical solutions or analysis of task criticality, complexity, duration, or frequency for trainer tasks."--DTIC.

Book Supporting Training Strategies for Brigade Combat Teams Using Future Combat Systems FCS Technologies

Download or read book Supporting Training Strategies for Brigade Combat Teams Using Future Combat Systems FCS Technologies written by Michael G. Shanley and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 2007 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study seeks to help the Army identify options to improve its future (i.e., circa 2016) training strategies for Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) equipped with Future Combat System (FCS) technologies. Key findings are that live training will need to remain at the core of training programs for FCS units, and that adaptation to changing operational requirements will be a primary training challenge. Overall, the findings indicate that planned training enhancements can provide important improvements across a wide spectrum; however, the overall training capability achieved will likely be less than that needed to meet future training requirements. Unit time, the potential for technological advancement, and training budgets were found to be key constraints. While the study stresses greater emphasis on training manpower support in battle command training as the Army's best chance for significant near-term improvement, it concludes that longer-term improvement will depend on how closely the Army monitors and manages its enhancement programs. The process of shaping and balancing future training enhancements, for example, would benefit from better information and improved evaluative capabilities. These changes would be further enhanced by developing better metrics for the quality, quantity, and adaptability of training, by continuing to improve spiral development processes to evolve training methods and means, and by improving the visibility of financial information across training categories.

Book Improving Combat Maneuver Training Center CMTC Combat Service Support Training

Download or read book Improving Combat Maneuver Training Center CMTC Combat Service Support Training written by John A. Mandeville and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the world closes the door on the 20th Century and opens the door to the 21st Century, the political and economic climates shaping the Army are changing. The President's and Congress' highest priority is to reduce the size of the national debt and the federal budget. Defense budget cuts are a reality. American leaders and the public want a leaner, but just as effective, military force. To maintain fighting units and soldiers as credible components of America's national defense, tough and realistic training must be conducted. To do this, the Army must provide an environment where units and soldiers receive the best training possible at the most economic costs. Combat Training Centers provide realistic, performance-oriented training that ensures units achieve the standards spelled out in Army doctrine, and are one of the most cost effective training facilities. This paper provides my observations and recommendations as a senior observer and controller for Forward Support Battalions (FSBs) training at the Combat Maneuver Training Center (CMTC), a Combat Training Center (CTC) in Hohenfels, Germany. Specifically, the study discusses the CMTC environment, identifies FSB training shortfalls, and makes recommendations for FSB training.

Book Retention of Military Skills Acquired in Basic Combat Training

Download or read book Retention of Military Skills Acquired in Basic Combat Training written by Robert D. McDonald and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Performance data were collected in the three general Basic Combat Training proficiency areas (rifle marksmanship, physical combat fitness, end-of-cycle tests) from independent groups of soldiers (60 per group) during BCT, during Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and Combat Support Training (CST), and for permanent-party personnel in the Army six to 12 months. These data were collected at three U.S. Army Training Centers under comparable conditions. Results on the three areas tested indicated a general performance decrement over the one-year period sampled. While these performance decrements were statistically significant, the percentage decrements from the BCT level were relatively small and their practical significance is open to question. (Author).

Book Train to Win in a Complex World FM 7 0

Download or read book Train to Win in a Complex World FM 7 0 written by Headquarters Department Of The Army and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-07-18 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field Manual FM 7-0 Train to Win in a Complex World October 2016 FM 7-0, Train to Win in a Complex World, expands on the fundamental concepts of the Army's training doctrine introduced in ADRP 7-0. The Army's operations process is the foundation for how leaders conduct unit training. It also places the commander firmly at the center of the process and as the lead of every facet of unit training. FM 7-0 supports the idea that training a unit does not fundamentally differ from preparing a unit for an operation. Reinforcing the concepts, ideas, and terminology of the operations process while training as a unit makes a more seamless transition from training to operations. This publication focuses on training leaders, Soldiers, and Army Civilians as effectively and efficiently as possible given limitations in time and resources.

Book A Historical Review and Analysis of Army Physical Readiness Training and Assessment

Download or read book A Historical Review and Analysis of Army Physical Readiness Training and Assessment written by Whitfield East and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Drillmaster of Valley Forge-Baron Von Steuben-correctly noted in his "Blue Book" how physical conditioning and health (which he found woefully missing when he joined Washington's camp) would always be directly linked to individual and unit discipline, courage in the fight, and victory on the battlefield. That remains true today. Even an amateur historian, choosing any study on the performance of units in combat, quickly discovers how the levels of conditioning and physical performance of Soldiers is directly proportional to success or failure in the field. In this monograph, Dr. Whitfield "Chip" East provides a pragmatic history of physical readiness training in our Army. He tells us we initially mirrored the professional Armies of Europe as they prepared their forces for war on the continent. Then he introduces us to some master trainers, and shows us how they initiated an American brand of physical conditioning when our forces were found lacking in the early wars of the last century. Finally, he shows us how we have and must incorporate science (even when there exists considerable debate!) to contribute to what we do-and how we do it-in shaping today's Army. Dr. East provides the history, the analysis, and the pragmatism, and all of it is geared to understanding how our Army has and must train Soldiers for the physical demands of combat. Our culture is becoming increasingly ''unfit," due to poor nutrition, a lack of adequate and formal exercise, and too much technology. Still, the Soldiers who come to our Army from our society will be asked to fight in increasingly complex and demanding conflicts, and they must be prepared through new, unique, and scientifically based techniques. So while Dr. East's monograph is a fascinating history, it is also a required call for all leaders to better understand the science and the art of physical preparation for the battlefield. It was and is important for us to get this area of training right, because getting it right means a better chance for success in combat.
