Book 650 SOFOCATE A CODE TO DETERMINE THERMAL CONSTANTS ON THE IBM 650

Download or read book 650 SOFOCATE A CODE TO DETERMINE THERMAL CONSTANTS ON THE IBM 650 written by and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 650 SOFOCATE is aa IBM 650 code to determine the macroscopic thermal cross sections to be used in reactor diffusion and transport codes. These thermal constants are derived by averaging energy dependent cross sections over either a Wigner-Wilkins or a Maxwellian spectrum. As the name implies, the 650 SOFOCATE code is essentially a recoding of the 704 code, SOFOCATE, programmed by Westinghouse. The procedure of obtaining the spectrum, and the averaging of the cross sections over the spectrum follows exactly the procedure outlined in WAPD- TM-39. Restrictions of the 650 version to the 704 code are that the energy limit of the spectrum is reduced from 2.00 to 1.09 ev, and that no provision is made for an energy dependent moderator cross section and logarithmic energy decrement. In addition to the macroscopic cross sections used in diffusion codes, D, SIGMA / sub A/, and nu SIGMA /sub F/, the 650 SOFOCATE generates cross sections used in transport codes, SIGMA /sub TE/ and SIGMA /sub S/. The 650 version allows the user the option of specifying whether the energy dependent macroscopic cross sections, derived from the specified material composition, are to be averaged over either a Wigner-Wilkins spectrum generated from the same composition, or a Maxwellian spectrum, or a Wigner-Wilkins spectrum generated by a different material composition. The latter is useful in determining homogenized cell constants. A description of the code and the equations and procedures used are presented. A description is also given of a procedure for calculating thermal constants for a thin heavily absorbing region. (auth).

Book A General Program for Calculating Cross sections in Wave Mechanics

Download or read book A General Program for Calculating Cross sections in Wave Mechanics written by Kenneth Smith and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The wave mechanical cross-section formulas for one incident channel and N exit channels are derived in matrix form. A method for calculating these cross sections is discussed and a listing of the Fortran program used on an IBM-704 is given. As an illustration, the program is used to calculate cross sections obtained in the weak coupling approximation in the scattering of positrons by atomic hydrogen.

Book Modern Methods in Collisional Radiative Modeling of Plasmas

Download or read book Modern Methods in Collisional Radiative Modeling of Plasmas written by Yuri Ralchenko and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-25 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a compact yet comprehensive overview of recent developments in collisional-radiative (CR) modeling of laboratory and astrophysical plasmas. It describes advances across the entire field, from basic considerations of model completeness to validation and verification of CR models to calculation of plasma kinetic characteristics and spectra in diverse plasmas. Various approaches to CR modeling are presented, together with numerous examples of applications. A number of important topics, such as atomic models for CR modeling, atomic data and its availability and quality, radiation transport, non-Maxwellian effects on plasma emission, ionization potential lowering, and verification and validation of CR models, are thoroughly addressed. Strong emphasis is placed on the most recent developments in the field, such as XFEL spectroscopy. Written by leading international research scientists from a number of key laboratories, the book offers a timely summary of the most recent progress in this area. It will be a useful and practical guide for students and experienced researchers working in plasma spectroscopy, spectra simulations, and related fields.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aerodynamics is a science engaged in the investigation of the motion of air and other gases and their interaction with bodies, and is one of the most important bases of the aeronautic and astronautic techniques. The continuous improvement of the configurations of the airplanes and the space vehicles aid the constant enhancement of their performances are closely related with the development of the aerodynamics. In the design of new flying vehicles the aerodynamics will play more and more important role. The undertakings of aeronautics and astronautics in our country have gained achievements of world interest, the aerodynamics community has made outstanding contributions for the development of these undertakings and the science of aerodynamics. To promote further the development of the aerodynamics, meet the challenge in the new century, summary the experience, cultivate the professional personnel and to serve better the cause of aeronautics and astronautics and the national economy, the present Series of Modern Aerodynamics is organized and published.

Book Computational Atomic Physics

Download or read book Computational Atomic Physics written by Klaus Bartschat and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Atomic Physics deals with computational methods for calculating electron (and positron) scattering from atoms and ions, including elastic scattering, excitation, and ionization processes. Each chapter is divided into abstract, theory, computer program with sample input and output, summary, suggested problems, and references. An MS-DOS diskette is included, which holds 11 programs covering the features of each chapter and therefore contributing to a deeper understanding of the field. Thus the book provides a unique practical application of advanced quantum mechanics.

Book Computational Methods for Fluid Flow

Download or read book Computational Methods for Fluid Flow written by Roger Peyret and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In developing this book, we decided to emphasize applications and to provide methods for solving problems. As a result, we limited the mathematical devel opments and we tried as far as possible to get insight into the behavior of numerical methods by considering simple mathematical models. The text contains three sections. The first is intended to give the fundamen tals of most types of numerical approaches employed to solve fluid-mechanics problems. The topics of finite differences, finite elements, and spectral meth ods are included, as well as a number of special techniques. The second section is devoted to the solution of incompressible flows by the various numerical approaches. We have included solutions of laminar and turbulent-flow prob lems using finite difference, finite element, and spectral methods. The third section of the book is concerned with compressible flows. We divided this last section into inviscid and viscous flows and attempted to outline the methods for each area and give examples.
