Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a unique book on food chemistry emphasizing modern mechanisms underlying the chemical reactions that occur in food during processing and storage and interactions among the components of foods. The autho r has stressed the principles of the reaction mechanisms, carefully de tailing what is known to occur or is expected to occur based on his de tailed understanding of organic chemical reactions. This unifies the t hemes of oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis, structure, polymerization, emulsification, etc., that are key to the conceptual approach used.

Book The General Theory of Alternating Current Machines

Download or read book The General Theory of Alternating Current Machines written by Bernard Adkins and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book on The General Theory of Electrical Machines, by B. Adkins, which was published in 1957, has been well received, as a manual containing the theories on which practical methods of calculating machine performance can be based, and as a text-book for advanced students. Since 1957, many important developments have taken place in the practical application of electrical machine theory. The most important single factor in the development has been the increasing availability of the digital computer, which was only beginning to be used in the solution of machine and power system problems in 1957. Since most of the recent development, particularly that with which the authors have been concerned, has related to a. c. machines, the present book, which is in other respects an up-to-date version of the earlier book, deals primarily with a. c. machines. The second chapter on the primitive machine does deal to some extent with the d. c. machine, because the cross-field d. c. generator servesas an introduction to the two-axis theory and can be used to provide a simple explanation of some of the mathematical methods. The equations also apply directly to a. c. commutator machines. The use of the word 'general' in the title has been criticized. It was never intended to imply that the treatment was comprehen sive in the sense that every possible type of machine and problem was dealt with.

Book Mechanisms of Cross Boundary Learning

Download or read book Mechanisms of Cross Boundary Learning written by Nobutaka Ishiyama and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-09-12 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reveals the mechanism through which adults learn through boundary-crossing experiences. Boundary crossing, though defined in various ways, refers to activities in which persons belonging to different organizations collaborate in a context different from their workplace. While boundary crossing attracts researchers and practitioners as a platform for adult learning, previous analysis of its mechanism has been insufficient. To address this research gap, this text reviews literature on theories related to boundary crossing on an interdisciplinary basis, and empirically analyses the mechanism of learning through boundary crossing and associated job crafting. It also explains the concepts and techniques of the Modified-grounded theory approach (M-GTA) in order to facilitate easy understanding among researchers and practitioners in management and organization research. While job crafting is one of the research topics attracting a large number of researchers today, there is a lack of empirical studies on this topic. This book addresses cases in Japan where various experimental projects are in progress. However, noting the fact that the labor market and human resource management (HRM) practices in Japan are not as different from other countries as is usually said, its findings can be applied to other settings across the globe.

Book Distinguished Figures in Mechanism and Machine Science

Download or read book Distinguished Figures in Mechanism and Machine Science written by Marco Ceccarelli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-12-01 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second volume of a series of edited books whose aim is to collect c- tributed papers within a framework that can serve as a collection of persons in MMS (Mechanism and Machine Science). This is a continuation of the first volume that was published in 2008, again combining very ancient and very recent scholars in order to give not only an encyclopaedic character to this project but also to emphasize the significance of MMS over time. This project has the characteristic that the papers illustrate, by recognizing p- sons and their scientific work, mainly technical developments in the historical evolution of the fields that today are grouped in MMS. Thus, emphasis is also given to biographical notes describing efforts and experiences of people who have c- tributed to the technical achievements whose technical survey is the core of each contributed paper. This second volume of the project has been possible thanks to the invited authors who have enthusiastically shared in this initiative and who have spent time and effort in preparing the papers. The stand-alone papers cover the wide field of the History of Mechanical Engineering with specific focus on MMS. I believe that readers will take advantage of the papers in this book and future ones by supplying further satisfaction and motivation for her or his work (historical or not).

This book was released on 2021-09-20 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to strategic management research relating to China’s SOE. As China’s economic system of the day is featured by mixed ownership, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), under the New Normal of economic backdrop, are devoted to exploring the reform of stock resources reorganization, one of which is through mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This book explores the key points and difficulties in the successful reform of Chinese enterprises with mixed ownership by focusing on trust and innovation and by widely covering normative research, index evaluation system, game theory and empirical research with case study. It is significant for evaluating the reform of SOE in China by integrating the informal institutional aspects into the formal one and understanding the leading role of SOE in China’s economic development.

Book A Practical Theory of Reactive Systems

Download or read book A Practical Theory of Reactive Systems written by R. Kurki-Suonio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-02-17 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A man may imagine he understands something, but still not understand anything in the way that he ought to. (Paul of Tarsus, 1 Corinthians 8:2) Calling this a ‘practical theory’ may require some explanation. Theory and practice are often thought of as two di?erent worlds, governed bydi?erentideals, principles, andlaws.DavidLorgeParnas, forinstance, who hascontributedmuchtoourtheoreticalunderstandingofsoftwareengineering and also to sound use of theory in the practice of it, likes to point out that ‘theoretically’ is synonymous to ‘not really’. In applied mathematics the goal is to discover useful connections between these two worlds. My thesis is that in software engineering this two-world view is inadequate, and a more intimate interplay is required between theory and practice. That is, both theoretical and practical components should be integrated into a practical theory. It should beclearfrom theabovethattheintended readership of this book is not theoreticians. They would probably have di?culties in appreciating a book on theory where the presentation does not proceed in a logical sequence from basic de?nitions to theorems and mathematical proofs, followed by - plication examples. In fact, all this would not constitute what I understand by a practical theory in this context.

Book Mechanism Design for Total Quality Management

Download or read book Mechanism Design for Total Quality Management written by Petter Ogland and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Mechanism Design for Total Quality Management' is clearly written in a logical manner and points are supported by real life case studies. Dr. Ogland demonstrates how a Total Quality Management strategy articulated through the use of bootstrap algorithms can be used to achieve world-class performance in challenging environments such as complex organisations saturated with power struggles and internal politics. The book features insights on critical systems thinking, game theory, quality management systems, the EFQM Business Excellence Model, self-assessment, and the implementation of TQM. Case studies provide practical insights from twenty years of empirical research on how to bootstrap TQM and Business Excellence in complex environments. The ideas developed in the book have been acknowledged as a major contribution to the theory of TQM, and the book itself is an indispensable resource for practitioners trying to implement TQM in environments where traditional implementation methods are bound to fail.
