Warren, M.D. On Curvature of the Spine There are three general divisions of club-foot, made use of by classic authors; viz., varus, valgus, and pes-equinus or horse-foot. That termed varus, is where the foot is turned in, and the subject of it rests his weight upon the outer part of the foot and external ankle. That termed valgus, is where the part is turned outwards, and the subject of it rests his weight upon the inside of the foot. This kind of club-foot is not so common as that termed varus - is seldom congenital, and is usually acquired from accident, as is also pes-equinus. These general divisions of club-foot are sub-divided into degrees; viz., lst, 2d and 3d, which indicate the extent of the deviation.
