Book God s Reign and the End of Empires

Download or read book God s Reign and the End of Empires written by Antonio González and published by Kyrios. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this profound and enlightening book, theologian Antonio Gonzalez analyzes the nature of global empires since the time of Babylon. His premise is that empires maintain power by any means necessary, including exploitation, injustice and idolatry. It is in this context of empire, specifically the Roman empire, that Jesus proclaimed the reign of God as opposed to the reign of Caesar. Within God s reign, God alone rules, with mercy, love, justice, and special concern for the oppressed. Imbued with this faith, a new community of believers developed, particularly among the poor, who lived what Jesus proclaimed, sharing resources and practicing equality and forgiveness rather than retribution. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don't let the devil steal from you any longer! TAKE CONTROL This book will show you: • God’s Love for you • God’s Plans for you • How to send the enemy running • How to communicate with God • How to receive all God’s promises ■ Prosperity ■ Health and healing ■ Confidant success ■ Soul control (mind, will and emotions) In the beginning of my ministry, the Lord taught me His principles in such a simple and understanding way that it blew my mind. I sometimes would question Him in prayer to make sure I was understanding correctly. As I followed the simple plans the Lord revealed to me, I began having victory in my circumstances all the time, and I’m still enjoying victory today. I have been set free from all bondages, and I am planning on many more victory parties. I believe that when so many people today try so hard to get ahead, complication begins, frustration soon follows, and then they realize that they forgot the reasons for doing what they were doing (they become lost), even though they may have begun with good motives. This book is written from the principal topics the Lord taught me through the Bible, along with prayer victories we can all partake in. So whether you are new in Christ, or just need a refresher course that is simple but powerful, then this book is for you, and I believe the Lord will bless you as you read it. Britt Woodring is founder of Blazin Wheels Ministries, Inc. Married to Wendy Woodring, and raised two boys. But what does this actually entail, and what difference does it make? In his characteristically provocative and daring way, Christoph Blumhardt articulates a vision of God's kingdom that turns much of our understanding of modern Christianity upside-down. In the present volume, available in English for the first time, Blumhardt leads readers to look at the gospel anew, challenging us to follow Jesus in a way that makes God's reign a reality, here and now. Bypassing vague notions of spirituality, as well as transcending simplistic approaches to faith, Blumhardt inspires us to actually live under the rule and reign of God.

Book How to Reign in Life

  • Pages : 120 pages

Download or read book How to Reign in Life written by Shelita Williams and published by Anointed Press Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2009-07-01 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute. (Proverbs 12:24 KJV) This scripture is the foundation for this book. The Word tells us to meditate on God's Word and we can make our way prosperous. I like the way the Message Bible of Joshua 1:8-9 reads; "Don't get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you're going. And don't for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you'll get where you're going; then you'll succeed. Haven't I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don't be timid; don't get discouraged. GOD, your God, is with you every step you take." When I meditated on Proverbs 12:24, I found seven life changing principles that I learned and continue to incorporate in my life that allow me to reign in areas that I would not in my wildest dreams truly believe that I could! God has given us everything we need to succeed, everything we need to reign in life. Just like a father gives his child his blessing, our Father, God has given us "The Blessing" to reign in life. It is up to us to take that blessing, that empowerment, that anointing and utilize it in every arena of our lives. We are going to learn how to take the Word of God and incorporate it in our lives and reap the benefits of meditating and doing the Word, because the bible also tells us that we need to hear as well as do the Word to receive the promises of the Word. Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. (James 1:22-24 MSG) This is not going to be us! Once we hear the Word on how to reign in life, we will act upon it with force, eagerness, persistence and diligence and see God manifest Himself in our lives like never before! So we will begin by breaking down our foundation scripture which is Proverbs 12:24a the hand of the diligent shall bear rule. We will dissect it into small enough pieces that we can digest it and nourish our spirits and our souls and began to see our lives change, because we utilized the principles that we will be discussing in this book. Now let's look at some definitions: The word Hand in the Hebrew means power, direction, work, ministry, service and state. Diligent in Hebrew means active, incisive, determination and eager. Bear Rule in Hebrew means to rule, reign, have power, governor and that everything is subject to you. Now let's incorporate our definitions of these words into our scripture and it would read: The power, direction, work, ministry, service, state of the active, incisive, determined and eager shall rule, reign, have power, be governor and everything is subject to them! Now, I took it a step further and looked up the Hebrew definition of these words in the American Heritage Dictionary and I came up with an even more detailed description of this particular scripture. I will call this Shelita's amplified version of Proverbs 12:24a: The power, the direction, the work, the ministry, the service and the state of the active and those who have the ability or quality to cut or separate the superficial part of anything, able to make a decision of a question in the mind, have firm resolution; settled purpose, absolute direction to a certain end and are excited by ardent desire in the pursuit of any object will rule, reign, have control, have power, be director, administrator, chief, head and have everything subject to them! Amen! Now that's what I'm talking about! This is what I want for my life and I know you do as well because you are reading this book, so let's get started.

Book Where the Gods Reign

Download or read book Where the Gods Reign written by Richard Evans Schultes and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While the core of VINE OF THE SOUL (the companion book to WHERE THE GODS REIGN), is the Amazonian plant life and the indigenous people's uses for it, WHERE THE GODS REIGN focuses primarily on the people themselves-though of course, Schultz (who was dubbed the father of ethnobotany by Prince Philip himself) is first and foremost a botanist and plants do figure into the mix: Schultes describes devil's gardens-empty patches in the otherwise thick forests where, for no apparent (or scientific) reason, nothing will grow-with the same precision and wonderment with which he discusses the many plants that grow upon other plants in their effort to get their share of the sun...and much more. But in this fine volume he begins with information about the histories of the various tribes and the lay of the lands on which they live; savannahs, dense forests, quartzite cliffs, sandstone mountains and caves and thunderous waterfalls are all accounted for; and all of his lyrical essays are accompanied by stunning black and white photographs. (There are over 140 photos in the book.) Schultes is often poetic here as well, describing not only the geography but, often, the exquisite emotions one experiences observing it in different seasons or different times of the day. Likewise, Schultes describes the people lovingly. He delights in their ability to be happy in spite of poverty, sickness, and, particularly in the case of the women, very hard work. He marvels at their relationships with animals, many of which they tame, so that their homes are surrounded by birds, monkeys, deer, and even boa constrictors (which live in the rafters and keep the mice and rat populations at bay). He marvels that while the children are almost never punished and enjoy a high degree of freedom (especially the boys), they show great respect for their elders as well as a great curiosity and appreciation for their surroundings. Schultes' pleasure-in the land and its people-is our pleasure. He is a remarkable scientist and a most eloquent guide. Reading WHERE THE GODS REIGN is probably as close as most of us will ever get to the kind of experience Schultes had staying in Amazon basin and learning about the many very different alternatives to living a life. But one can't help but long for that experience too. The book threatens to make explorers out of all of us-and a reader can't help but be disheartened upon remembering that there is not much left to explore.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book Reigning In Vicory will encourage the readers that inspite of issues and challenges they face in life they can still Reign In Victory. It requires a mindset and a determined spirit to make a difference in life. Reigning In Victory does not mean that on this journey of life we will not have troubles, problems, disappointments, trials, persecution and set backs in our lives. However, inspite of all the issues and challenges that ones life maybe confronted with it is not what happen to you that really matters but what really matters is the way you handle what happen to you. The way we think has a lot to do with the way we live. If you think you can do a thing, then you can do it. Also, if you think you can't do a thing you will eventually talk yourself out of even trying to complete the task. If your thinking is not in line with fulfilling your God given purpose you will most likely settle for existing instead of thriving to be all that God wants you to be and enjoying this abundant life that we have been given. Reigning in Victory will require one to live on purpose to complete the assignments given unto us by God to be world changers and make a difference in the lives of people everywhere. This all begins when one change the way they think and then their whole world around them changes. Learn to see the glass as half full instead of seeing it as half empty. The way you think and your attitude will determine your altitude. This book encourges the reader to do just that. I can do all things through Christ which strengthers me. That is my mindset and I want to help others to change the way they think and Reign In Victory.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In her stunning debut, the creator of Black Liturgies weaves stories from three generations of her family alongside contemplative reflections to discover the “necessary rituals” that connect us with our belonging, dignity, and liberation. “This is the kind of book that makes you different when you’re done.”—Ashley C. Ford, New York Times bestselling author of Somebody’s Daughter “Reaches deep beneath the surface of words unspoken, wounds unhealed, and secrets untempered to break them open in order for fresh light to break through.”—Morgan Jerkins, New York Times bestselling author of This Will Be My Undoing and Caul Baby ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: The Root, Library Journal “From the womb, we must repeat with regularity that to love ourselves is to survive. I believe that is what my father wanted for me and knew I would so desperately need: a tool for survival, the truth of my dignity named like a mercy new each morning.” So writes Cole Arthur Riley in her unforgettable book of stories and reflections on discovering the sacred in her skin. In these deeply transporting pages, Arthur Riley reflects on the stories of her grandmother and father, and how they revealed to her an embodied, dignity-affirming spirituality, not only in what they believed but in the act of living itself. Writing memorably of her own childhood and coming to self, Arthur Riley boldly explores some of the most urgent questions of life and faith: How can spirituality not silence the body, but instead allow it to come alive? How do we honor, lament, and heal from the stories we inherit? How can we find peace in a world overtaken with dislocation, noise, and unrest? In this indelible work of contemplative storytelling, Arthur Riley invites us to descend into our own stories, examine our capacity to rest, wonder, joy, rage, and repair, and find that our humanity is not an enemy to faith but evidence of it. At once a compelling spiritual meditation, a powerful intergenerational account, and a tender coming-of-age narrative, This Here Flesh speaks potently to anyone who suspects that our stories might have something to say to us.

Book excerpt: It's Time for a Revolution In the Garden, woman was taken out of man to stand by his side and co-reign with him. But Satan's schemes have robbed women of their rightful identity, disempowering and defacing them. The world aches for God's original partnership to be brought into balance once more--and it can be. Join Kris Vallotton for an extraordinary journey of eye-opening insight, including • God's true plan and purpose for women • Jesus' radical teachings and care for women • men's important role in restoring women • the true meaning of difficult Bible passages about women • examples of women in leadership as God intended God fashioned women to reign alongside men. Jesus set women free to be beautiful and powerful. It's time for us, as daughters and sons of the King, to rule together in glory again. Will you join the revolution? "We have failed to realize that Jesus founded the women's liberation movement more than two thousand years ago. Isn't it high time His Church led the revolution?"--Kris Vallotton "Off the charts. Worthy to be read and studied by all. You won't be able to put it down."--Patricia King, founder, XP Ministries "Read, weigh and embrace the spirit, truth and heartbeat of this book. This biblical approach rightly addresses unright arguments of strained interpretations. Such balance and beauty make sense and offer wisdom. I say, 'Amen!'"--Pastor Jack Hayford, chancellor, The King's University, Dallas/Los Angeles "This profound work is a must-read for men and women alike; it has the potential to instill courage in the hearts of men and give women permission to dream again."--Bill Johnson, senior leader, Bethel Church, Redding, California; author, The Essential Guide to Healing and When Heaven Invades Earth "Finally, a biblical perspective that encourages women to remain themselves and still take their God-given places of leadership."--Stacey Campbell, author, Praying the Bible; co-founding pastor, New Life Church, Kelowna, British Columbia "This compelling work will elevate your awareness, challenge some presuppositions and invite you to grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus."--Dr. Mark J. Chironna, Church On The Living Edge, Mark Chironna Ministries, Orlando, Florida "This must-read will empower you to regain your identity that Satan stole and live the life God created you to live."--Cynthia Brazelton, pastor, Victory Christian Ministries International "I deeply enjoyed diving into the Bible with Kris as my guide to find out what God really says about men and women. It has enhanced my understanding of who I am as a woman and inspires me to instill that in the young women around me. This book is about truth and therefore would be great written by anyone. However, I realized that the fact that it was written by a man, and it is a man calling me into my divine design, brought a deeper level of healing than I'd anticipated and sent me on a journey digging deeper into God's heart. I recommend it for all!" --Revival Magazine "Fashioned to Reign considers the everlasting deception Christians face regarding women's role and purpose: a deception fostered by evil and which is not of God's plan. The disempowerment of women was the devil's idea - and God's true plan for women is very different. Woman was, in fact, designed to stand by man's side and reign with him, not under him - and Fashioned to Reign covers God's ultimate intention for women. Packed with scripture and information throughout, Fashioned to Reign is a powerful analysis perfect for any Christian collection." --Midwest Book Review
