Book I Wish I Could Draw

Download or read book I Wish I Could Draw written by Cary Fagan and published by Groundwood Books Ltd. This book was released on 2014-04-01 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the narrator of this sneakily clever book decides he will try to draw even though he believes he isn’t very good at it, a world of silly possibilities opens for him. By the end of the story, he has vanquished a dragon, been given a medal, published a book, and seen his artwork on display in a real museum—and all because he refused to be held back by his own perceived limitations. The narrator of I Wish I Could Draw shares a name with creator Cary Fagan and has the same curly hair and glasses. Perhaps most interesting of all, though, the narrator believes he has no artistic talent—just like the Cary Fagan who not only wrote but also bravely and exuberantly illustrated this book. Fortunately for readers, both Cary-the-narrator and Cary-the-children’s-book-creator refused to let self-doubt stop them from trying to tell (and draw) the funniest and most exciting story they could think of. The result is a book that delivers plenty of excitement, silly jokes and fun—and also an important message about self-confidence and perseverance. Designed to look like a child’s notebook, I Wish I Could Draw will inspire readers to pick up a pencil and let their imaginations do the rest.

Chagall paints Pepette flying through the clouds. Josette points out that Pepette doesn't fly and is afraid of heights-so they decide to keep going through the square. When they meet Matisse, he paints Pepette pink, with lots of colorful dots and splashes covering the canvas. It's a beautiful piece of art, but it's not Pepette. Giving up, Josette and Pepette make their way home. Josette is upset that no one was able to no one was able to capture the true essence of Pepette. Marshal, Yancy Lawhorn opened the door to Lincoln County Sheriff Pat Garrett's office looking for his Apache friend, Paco. Garrett had telegraphed the marshal soon after he arrested the Indian for murdering four white men: tracked them down and methodically killed each one of them, but why, Lawhorn wondered. Pat could only shake his head. Paco would talk to no one, including his friend Marshal Lawhorn. Coming to believe there is more to this tragedy than has thus far come to light, Lawhorn feels that Bright Dove, Paco's beautiful sister knows more than she is telling. Could the Indians being cheated out of their rightful rations at the Indian Agency somehow be associated with the killings? Or could the issue of inferior goods have contributed in some way? The marshal intends to find out, but locating witness and convincing them to testify proves to be a tall order. As the various threads of fact come together, Yancy's life is threatened, but with his determination set to seek the truth surrounding the murders, Yancy places his loyalty to Paco above his own self-protection.
