Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis, (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity was transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 19 (thesis year 1974) a total of 10,045 theses titles from 20 Canadian and 209 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 19 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.

Book Electromagnetic Penetration Through Apertures of Arbitrary Shape Formulation and Numerical Solution Procedure

Download or read book Electromagnetic Penetration Through Apertures of Arbitrary Shape Formulation and Numerical Solution Procedure written by D. R. Wilton and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A set of integral equations are derived for the equivalent magnetic current in an aperture of arbitrary shape lying in an infinite ground screen. The integral equations are cast into a matrix equation using the method of moments. An algorithm is described for the solution of the matrix equation which minimizes the machine storage required for the computation. (Author).

Book Analysis and Numerical Solution of an Integral Equation Method for Electromagnetic Scattering from a Cavity in a Ground Plane

Download or read book Analysis and Numerical Solution of an Integral Equation Method for Electromagnetic Scattering from a Cavity in a Ground Plane written by Eric T. Howe and published by . This book was released on 2001-09-01 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this research the electromagnetic scattering of a plane wave from a two-dimensional cavity embedded in an infinite, perfectly conducting ground plane is investigated. The plane wave is assumed to be under transverse electric (TE) polarization with respect to the x-axis. The cavity may be empty or filled with an arbitrary homogeneous, lossy material. A coupled set of scalar integral equations that govern the electromagnetic scattering is implemented. An approximate solution to the scalar integral equations is found via a Method of Moments (MoM) algorithm. The algorithm is implemented in a computer code, and approximations to the total magnetic field on the cavity surface and aperture as well as the normal derivative of the total magnetic field on the cavity aperture are obtained. These fields are then used to calculate the two-dimensional monostatic RCS signatures of various test cavities. The numerical results from the algorithm are shown to agree well with the RCS signatures calculated by other well-known methods and published results. In addition to being accurate, the algorithm is very computationally efficient. The process results in simply solving a relatively small, well-conditioned matrix system for each incident angle to produce the unknown fields.

Book The Method of Moments in Electromagnetics

Download or read book The Method of Moments in Electromagnetics written by Walton C. Gibson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-09-06 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Method of Moments in Electromagnetics, Third Edition details the numerical solution of electromagnetic integral equations via the Method of Moments (MoM). Previous editions focused on the solution of radiation and scattering problems involving conducting, dielectric, and composite objects. This new edition adds a significant amount of material on new, state-of-the art compressive techniques. Included are new chapters on the Adaptive Cross Approximation (ACA) and Multi-Level Adaptive Cross Approximation (MLACA), advanced algorithms that permit a direct solution of the MoM linear system via LU decomposition in compressed form. Significant attention is paid to parallel software implementation of these methods on traditional central processing units (CPUs) as well as new, high performance graphics processing units (GPUs). Existing material on the Fast Multipole Method (FMM) and Multi-Level Fast Multipole Algorithm (MLFMA) is also updated, blending in elements of the ACA algorithm to further reduce their memory demands. The Method of Moments in Electromagnetics is intended for students, researchers, and industry experts working in the area of computational electromagnetics (CEM) and the MoM. Providing a bridge between theory and software implementation, the book incorporates significant background material, while presenting practical, nuts-and-bolts implementation details. It first derives a generalized set of surface integral equations used to treat electromagnetic radiation and scattering problems, for objects comprising conducting and dielectric regions. Subsequent chapters apply these integral equations for progressively more difficult problems such as thin wires, bodies of revolution, and two- and three-dimensional bodies. Radiation and scattering problems of many different types are considered, with numerical results compared against analytical theory as well as measurements.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive reference on electromagnetic shielding materials, configurations, approaches, and analyses This reference provides a comprehensive survey of options for the reduction of the electromagnetic field levels in prescribed areas. After an introduction and an overview of available materials, it discusses figures of merit for shielding configurations, the shielding effectiveness of stratified media, numerical methods for shielding analyses, apertures in planar metal screens, enclosures, and cable shielding. Up to date and comprehensive, Electromagnetic Shielding: Explores new and innovative techniques in electromagnetic shielding Presents a critical approach to electromagnetic shielding that highlights the limits of formulations based on plane-wave sources Analyzes aspects not normally considered in electromagnetic shielding, such as the effects of the content of the shielding enclosures Includes references at the end of each chapter to facilitate further study The last three chapters discuss frequency-selective shielding, shielding design procedures, and uncommon ways of shielding—areas ripe for further research. This is an authoritative, hands-on resource for practicing telecommunications and electrical engineers, as well as researchers in industry and academia who are involved in the design and analysis of electromagnetic shielding structures.
