Download or read book Multiparameter Equations of State written by Roland Span and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a basis for printed property charts and tables, empirical multiparameter equa tions of state have been the most important source of accurate thermodynamic property data for more than 30 years now. However, due to increasing demands on the accuracy of thermodynamic property data in computerised calculations as well as the availability of appropriate software tools, and the ever increasing computer power, such formulations are nowadays becoming a valuable tool for everyday work. This development has substantially increased the number of scientists, engi neers, and students who are working with empirical multiparameter equations of state, and it continues to do so. Nevertheless, common knowledge on this kind of thermodynamic property models and on the ongoing progress in this scientific discipline is still very limited. Multiparameter equations of state do not belong to the topics which are taught intensively in thermodynamic courses in engineering and natural sciences and the books and articles where they are published mainly deal with the thermodynamic properties of certain substances rather than with the theoretical background of the used equations of state. In contrast to this, my concern mainly was to give a survey of the theoretical background of multiparameter equations of state both with regard to their application and their development.

Book excerpt: Chlorine: International Thermodynamic Tables of the Fluid State-8 is a four-chapter book that covers available and estimated data on chlorine; estimation of the element's properties; the correlating equations for the element; and how the tabulated properties are calculated from chosen equation. The tables in this book give the volume, entropy, enthalpy, isobaric heat capacity, compression factor, fugacity/pressure ratio, Joule-Thomson coefficient, ratio of the heat capacities, and speed of sound as a function of pressure and temperature. Given in the tables as well are the pressure, entropy, internal energy, and isochoric heat capacity as functions of density and temperature, for the gas and liquid states from 0.025 MPa to 25 MPa at temperatures from 180 K to 900 K.

Download or read book Organic Synthesis Engineering written by Laxmangudi Krishnamurthy Doraiswamy and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 937 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will formally launch "organic synthesis engineering" as a distinctive field in the armory of the reaction engineer. Its main theme revolves around two developments: catalysis and the role of process intensification in enhancing overall productivity. Each of these two subjects arebecoming increasingly useful in organic synthesis engineering, especially in the production of medium and small volume chemicals and enhancing reaction rates by extending laboratory techniques, such as ultrasound, phase transfer catalysts, membrane reactor, and microwaves, to industrial scaleproduction. This volume describes the applications of catalysis in organic synthesis and outlines different techniques of reaction rate and/or selectivity enhancement against a background of reaction engineering principles for both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems.

This book was released on 1986 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The physical properties of water and steam have been the subject of lhorough investigation for a long time. It can, on the one hand, be due to the important role of this substance in the processes that take place in nature and, on the .other hand, due to its wide industrial use. Steam is the most important working substance used in conventional and nuc lear power plants, in chemical engineering and other fields of industry. The variety of practical use of water and steam generates a need for knowing their thermodynamic, transport, electrical, and other properties over a ·very wide range of temperatures and pressures. International Conferences on the Properties of Steam, which have taken place since 1929, have the aim to promote wide exchange of the results of theoretical and experimental studies into the properties of ordinary and heavy water in a11 phase states. In the course of last decade f.he investigation oC physical and chemical properties of concentrated and dilute aqueous solutions that are of interest in the first place from the point of view of power play an important part in these studies.
