Download or read book Art of Naming Finding the Perfect Name for Your Child written by Hseham Amrahs and published by Mahesh Dutt Sharma. This book was released on 2024-01-07 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inspiration for this handbook came from my personal experience of naming my children. As a parent, I found myself overwhelmed by the abundance of name options available and the pressure to choose the "perfect" name. Through my research and conversations with experts in the field, I discovered that there is no one right way to choose a name. Instead, it is about finding a name that has meaning and purpose for the parents and their child. This handbook is divided into several chapters, each exploring a different aspect of the naming process. The first few chapters focus on the importance of choosing a name with meaning and purpose, considering factors such as family heritage, cultural traditions, and the impact of technology and social media on names. Subsequent chapters examine the influence of popular culture, the significance of a child's name in shaping their identity, and the role of consultation with family and friends in making the naming decision.
Download or read book Deconstruction in a Nutshell written by Jacques Derrida and published by Fordham University Press. This book was released on 2020-11-03 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, now with a substantial new Introduction, represents one of the most lucid, compact and reliable introductions to Derrida and deconstruction available in any language. Responding to questions put to him at a roundtable held at Villanova University in 1994, Jacques Derrida leads the reader through an illuminating discussion of the central themes of deconstruction. Speaking in English and extemporaneously, Derrida takes up with unusual clarity and great eloquence such topics as the task of philosophy, the Greeks, justice, responsibility, the gift, community, and the messianic. Derrida refutes the charges of relativism that are often leveled at deconstruction by its critics and sets forth the profoundly affirmative and ethico-political thrust of his work. The roundtable is marked by an unusual clarity that continues into the second part of the book, in which one of Derrida’s most influential readers, John D. Caputo, elaborates upon Derrida’s comments and supplies material for further discussion. This edition also includes a substantial new Introduction by Caputo that discusses the original context of the book and traces the development of deconstruction since Derrida’s death in 2004, from the rise of new materialisms to return to religion. Long one of the most lucid and reliable introductions to Derrida and deconstruction available in any language, and an ideal volume for students, Deconstruction in a Nutshell will also prove illuminating for those already familiar with Derrida’s work.
Download or read book CULTURE JUSTICE AND SOCIAL CONTROL written by Sampson Ike Oli and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-06-15 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attempts to understand why African and Americans are over-represented in United States crime statistics have been made complex by the existence of a multiplicity of explanations. Every adult in the United States seems to know what causes crime, and is prepared to present some seasoned argument in support of their view. Because of the existence of this divergence, attempts to device a viable format for solving either the crime problem, the discrimination problem or the over representation problem continues to be difficult. Important aspects of authentic jurisprudence that acknowledge the need to examine a victim's contribution to the criminal event, retributive justice and collective responsibility, are essential attributes of traditional African culture. These attributes are conspicuously absent in the official social control systems that currently exist in the United States. This book suggests that to reduce or eliminate African American involvement in crime therefore, it is necessary to incorporate those attributes of equity and justice, which are essential components of the traditional legal systems of their ancestors into our official social control systems. Such incorporation will help to reconnect African Americans with their ancestral lgbo culture, reinforce their knowledge of African history, strengthen their self esteem and encourage the development of pride in their African heritage. It will also help to reduce their involvement as victims or participants in anti social behavior, and eventually solve the overreprentation problem.
