Book Computational Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book Computational Fluid Dynamics written by T. J. Chung and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-09-27 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Computational Fluid Dynamics represents a significant improvement from the first edition. However, the original idea of including all computational fluid dynamics methods (FDM, FEM, FVM); all mesh generation schemes; and physical applications to turbulence, combustion, acoustics, radiative heat transfer, multiphase flow, electromagnetic flow, and general relativity is still maintained. The second edition includes a new section on preconditioning for EBE-GMRES and a complete revision of the section on flowfield-dependent variation methods, which demonstrates more detailed computational processes and includes additional example problems. For those instructors desiring a textbook that contains homework assignments, a variety of problems for FDM, FEM and FVM are included in an appendix. To facilitate students and practitioners intending to develop a large-scale computer code, an example of FORTRAN code capable of solving compressible, incompressible, viscous, inviscid, 1D, 2D and 3D for all speed regimes using the flowfield-dependent variation method is made available.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Fluid Dynamics: Principles and Applications, Third Edition presents students, engineers, and scientists with all they need to gain a solid understanding of the numerical methods and principles underlying modern computation techniques in fluid dynamics. By providing complete coverage of the essential knowledge required in order to write codes or understand commercial codes, the book gives the reader an overview of fundamentals and solution strategies in the early chapters before moving on to cover the details of different solution techniques. This updated edition includes new worked programming examples, expanded coverage and recent literature regarding incompressible flows, the Discontinuous Galerkin Method, the Lattice Boltzmann Method, higher-order spatial schemes, implicit Runge-Kutta methods and parallelization. An accompanying companion website contains the sources of 1-D and 2-D Euler and Navier-Stokes flow solvers (structured and unstructured) and grid generators, along with tools for Von Neumann stability analysis of 1-D model equations and examples of various parallelization techniques. - Will provide you with the knowledge required to develop and understand modern flow simulation codes - Features new worked programming examples and expanded coverage of incompressible flows, implicit Runge-Kutta methods and code parallelization, among other topics - Includes accompanying companion website that contains the sources of 1-D and 2-D flow solvers as well as grid generators and examples of parallelization techniques

Book Frontiers of Computational Fluid Dynamics 1994

Download or read book Frontiers of Computational Fluid Dynamics 1994 written by D. A. Caughey and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frontiers of Computational Fluid Dynamics 1994 Edited by D. A. Caughey Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA M. M. Hafez University of California, Davis, USA This book presents the current state of the art of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). It is dedicated to Antony Jameson, in appreciation of his contributions to this field. Recent achievements in the various disciplines which contribute to CFD are discussed, including grid generation and adaptation, finite-volume and finite-element methods, multi-dimensional upwind schemes and multigrid convergence acceleration techniques. Simulations of inviscid and viscous flows are covered for both compressible and incompressible flows, with emphasis on flow control or optimal shape design in fluid mechanics. The book consists of 29 contributed chapters, which are grouped in six sections, covering: Design and Optimization of Aerodynamic Configurations Unstructured Grid Techniques Solution of the Euler Equations Solution of the Navier—Stokes Equations Applications in Aerodynamics Applications in Hydrodynamics Throughout the book, various approaches are critically examined, and new directions toward more efficient and robust tools of analysis and design, to meet the high expectations facing CFD, are emphasized.

Book High Order Nonlinear Numerical Schemes for Evolutionary PDEs

Download or read book High Order Nonlinear Numerical Schemes for Evolutionary PDEs written by Rémi Abgrall and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-19 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects papers presented during the European Workshop on High Order Nonlinear Numerical Methods for Evolutionary PDEs (HONOM 2013) that was held at INRIA Bordeaux Sud-Ouest, Talence, France in March, 2013. The central topic is high order methods for compressible fluid dynamics. In the workshop, and in this proceedings, greater emphasis is placed on the numerical than the theoretical aspects of this scientific field. The range of topics is broad, extending through algorithm design, accuracy, large scale computing, complex geometries, discontinuous Galerkin, finite element methods, Lagrangian hydrodynamics, finite difference methods and applications and uncertainty quantification. These techniques find practical applications in such fields as fluid mechanics, magnetohydrodynamics, nonlinear solid mechanics, and others for which genuinely nonlinear methods are needed.

Book Hypersonic Flows for Reentry Problems

Download or read book Hypersonic Flows for Reentry Problems written by Jean-Antoine Desideri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This entry describes the experimental work conducted in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College in connection with Test Problems 1 and 2 of the "Workshop on Hypersonic Flows for Reentry Problems, Part I". These are defined as follows: Test Problem 1 Flow Over a Slender Cone Test Problem 2 Turbulent Base Flow The main requirement of this text is to present the experimental data for direct comparison with the predictions of CFD codes. We have therefore concentrated mainly on a factual statement of measuring techniques and results, together with an assessment of experimental accuracy. Future publications will be devoted to more extensive physical interpretations and discussions of the results. We have produced a large volume of data, some of which were categorised as "MANDATORY" and some as "OPTIONAL" for the purposes of CFD validation. However, only the "MANDATORY" data are presented here, although the other data are available and will be published separately later. 2. EXPERIMENTAL ARRANGEMENT 2. 1 The Test Facility The experiments were conducted in the Imperial College No. 2 Gun tunnel. This facility is a conventional intermittent blowdown tunnel with a contoured Mach 9 (nominal) axisymmetric nozzle fed by a free piston compression heater. The operating condition under which the data contained in this report were obtained is presented in Table 1. Test 2 T (oK) M b.
