Book A Modern Interpretation of Goswami Tulsidas s RAMCHARITMANAS

Download or read book A Modern Interpretation of Goswami Tulsidas s RAMCHARITMANAS written by Arun Tiwari and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-31 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "What is the 'Ramcharitmanas'? It is Rama's story, or Rama's conduct, as narrated by Goswami Tulsidas. However, this doesn't quite explain what the word 'manasa' (mind) is doing in the title. The explanation given, in the 'Ramcharitmanas', is that this story was in Shiva's mind and came to Tulsidas via Parvati and Narharidas, Tulsidas's guru. It is no different with this volume by Professor Arun Tiwari. As a text, the 'Ramcharitmanas' is suffused with bhakti, and Rama's story and 'Ramcharitmanas' become what the reader, as a bhakta, take them to be, much more than with any other text. In this case, the bhakta is also a re-teller and re-interpreter, and bhakti is blended with Advaita Vedanta, although labels are best avoided. Goswami Tulsidas composed the 'Ramcharitmanas' rather late in life. Age brings wisdom. Through this book, Arun Tiwari too brings forth the wisdom that he now passes on, especially to the younger generation, in a novel and engaging way. - Bibek Debroy, Eminent author who translated Valmiki Ramayana into English and currently Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, and Member, NITI-Aayog, Government of India."Profusely blessed, Prof. Arun Tiwari, the celebrated co-author of 'Transcendence: My Spiritual Experiences with Pramukh Swamiji' with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, has written a modern narrative of the timeless 'Ramcharitmanas' in the language and flair of the youth. God can be seen through the loving eyes of a devotee in the Murti and felt in the service of a Gunantit Guru. A must-read for people in a world overwhelmed by and overloaded with material pleasures and desires. The book provides a guiding path for the devout to connect with the Supreme. Book excerpt: The most popular devotional text recounting the adventures of the Hindu god Ram The Ramcharitmanas, composed by the poet-saint Tulsidas in the sixteenth century during a dynamic period of religious reform, was instrumental in making the story of Ram-and his divine feats against Ravan, the demon king of Lanka-widely accessible to the common people for the first time. Prior to that, this tale was exclusively the preserve of the priestly class who could read Valmiki's Sanskrit epic, The Ramayana. By reimagining Valmiki's text in the vernacular language, as a poem to be imbibed through recitation rather than reading, Tulsidas kindled a devotional revolution, forever changing the religious and social landscape of northern India. Rohini Chowdhury's exquisite translation brings Tulsidas's magnum opus vividly to life, and her detailed introduction sheds crucial light on the poet and his work, placing them both in the wider context of Hindi literature.

Book excerpt: One of India’s greatest epics, the Ramayana pervades the country’s moral and cultural consciousness. For generations it has served as a bedtime story for Indian children, while at the same time engaging the interest of philosophers and theologians. Believed to have been composed by Valmiki sometime between the eighth and sixth centuries BCE, the Ramayana tells the tragic and magical story of Rama, the prince of Ayodhya, an incarnation of Lord Visnu, born to rid the earth of the terrible demon Ravana. An idealized heroic tale ending with the inevitable triumph of good over evil, the Ramayana is also an intensely personal story of family relationships, love and loss, duty and honor, of harem intrigue, petty jealousies, and destructive ambitions. All this played out in a universe populated by larger-than-life humans, gods and celestial beings, wondrous animals and terrifying demons. With her magnificent translation and superb introduction, Arshia Sattar has successfully bridged both time and space to bring this ancient classic to modern English readers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book titled "Ram Geeta: The Gospel of Lord Ram", describes the divine teachings of Lord Ram, the incarnate Supreme Being, as it is narrated in two famous Holy Books of India, viz. the 'Ram Charit Manas' originally written by Goswami Tulsidas, the well known saint-poet of medieval India, and 'Adhyatma Ramayan' penned by the legendary ancient sage Veda Vyas who had classified the Vedas, segregated the Upanishads from them, and had written all the Purans and Srimad Bhagwat Mahapuran. The book contains the original text alongside its English transliteration that is followed by verse-by-verse English rendering with detailed explanations and notes. A book on the theme of "Lord Ram's Geeta" on the lines of Lord Krishna's Geeta (which is, however, well-known and very popular) has never been written before, and thus this book is a first-of-its-kind. This Book presents all the different aspects of the eclectic philosophy of devotion, spiritualism, metaphysics and theology, with their finer nuances, as elucidated in the two classic books cited above on which it is based. Book India Wakes

  • Pages : 494 pages

Download or read book India Wakes written by Arun Tiwari and published by . This book was released on 2020-08-27 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world into which India wakes is a nightmare decimated by a global recession, caused by the coronavirus pandemic originating in China and engulfing most of the world. Was the coronavirus a Black Swan event turned into an opportunity by China to dominate the world? Would the trust deficit heightened by China's ambushing Indian soldiers become a snowball or fade away? Has the US$ 5 trillion Indian economy dream become a mirage already? What all would fall into the fault lines of socio-economic inequality? Will there be a new Cold War between the United States and China, and if there is one, how can India avoid becoming collateral damage? Is it possible that the United States, India, and China build a new world order based on mutual needs and interests, or is a hegemon power already on the prowl? Anchored in hope, rather than adding to anxiety, and seeing present times as a teachable moment of human history, the book recalls the past and contextualizes it for the next politico-economic shift that is currently unfolding in the world. Every nation must find its bearing and position itself in the matrix of a de-globalized world.Historians may conclude that 2020 marked the end of the post-World War II era. This majestic work analyzes the post coronavirus world order and India's role in it. Will India pursue a regional strategy that can contain a resurgent China? What are the regional and global implications of India's turn to greater nationalism under the BJP? Has the United States lost its place as the indispensable superpower? What new trade alliances and trade patterns may arise? These issues and more are addressed by authors, who possess extraordinary credentials as students of these troubled times. I recommend this book highly, the first major study to consider the fate of the triad-India, China, and the United States-in the post coronavirus new world order.- Stuart S. Malawer, J.D., Ph.D., Distinguished Service Professor of Law and International Trade at George Mason University. Delegate on various Virginia gubernatorial trade delegations to India.India wakes in a world that is emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic. The authors demonstrate how this disaster has accelerated trends already under way, including de-globalization, the rise of populist authoritarian leaders, and intensifying rivalry between China and the United States. They argue that India should take advantage of the opportunity that U.S. decoupling from China will provide, including supply chain movement away from China and into India. This sweeping, clearly written, and riveting magisterial study of India's role in the new world order is a must-read for students of the relationship between India, China, and the United States.- Richard W. Rahn, Ph.D., honorary Doctor of Laws, American economist, columnist, and entrepreneur. Current Chairman of Improbable Success Productions and the Institute for Global Economic Growth.

Download or read book Kavitawali of Goswami Tulsidas written by Sri Ajai Kumar Chhawchharia and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-01-24 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Kavitawali' is the legendary story of Lord Ram that was written by saint-poet Goswami Tulsidas as part of his Trilogy on Lord Ram's life and time-popularly known as 'Ramayan'. The other two books in this Trilogy are Geetawali and the epic Ram Charit Manas. Each of the three books of the Trilogy is a masterpiece in itself. The other two books would also be made available by this author as soon as they are ready for publication. 'Kavitawali' narrates the story of Lord Ram in a poetic style that is called 'Kavitta' in Hindi. It is basically fine and excellent poetry in one of its best forms, being written as it is in Tulsidas' unique style of narration that is at once lucid, enchanting and captivating for the mind. He has employed all the skills and mastery of words that he is so famous for. The probable reason of his writing Kavitawali (and for that matter Geetawali as well, besides, of course, the epic Ram Charit Manas) is perhaps he wished to narrate the excellent story of Lord Ram in from different angles and employing different styles of poetic composition so that the story as a whole becomes exceedingly enchanting, fascinating and beautiful as it could now be read and recited in various styles and tones to suit every mood and liking of the reader. Further, it helped Tulsidas to describe many aspects of the story which could not be possibly highlighted sufficiently in one book alone due to various restrictions-such as for instance the restrictions imposed by the style selected for the composition, or the flow of the narration, or the limitations of pages-could be overcome in the next book. So, Kavitawali helped Tulsidas to express himself better and more articulately because now he could focus his attention more to highlight in very expressive terms certain parts or aspects of the epic story as well as to fill in certain gaps that he couldn't probably do in the other two books of the Trilogy.
