Book A Mineral Resource Assessment of the Chilko Lake Planning Area

Download or read book A Mineral Resource Assessment of the Chilko Lake Planning Area written by British Columbia. Geological Survey Branch and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chilko Lake planning area encompasses a portion of the transition zone between the mountains of the Coast Ranges and the rolling terrain of the interior plateau in south-central B.C. It comprises an area of high wildlife and recreational resource values that have long been studied as a candidate for a provincial park with a region of high mineral potential. This mineral resource assessment was undertaken to determine the mineral potential of the planning area in detail. A program of 1:50,000 scale geological mapping, detailed stream-sediment sampling, and prospecting with extensive rock chip sampling was conducted to identify the mineral potential.

Book excerpt: The Archive of Place weaves together a series of narratives about environmental history in a particular location British Columbia's Chilcotin Plateau. In the mid-1990s, the Chilcotin was at the centre of three territorial conflicts. Opposing groups, in their struggle to control the fate of the region and its resources, invoked different understandings of its past and different types of evidence to justify their actions. These controversies serve as case studies, as William Turkel examines how people interpret material traces to reconstruct past events, the conditions under which such interpretation takes place, and the role that this interpretation plays in historical consciousness and social memory. It is a wide-ranging and original study that extends the span of conventional historical research.

Book Procedural Guidelines for Qualitative Mineral Potential Evaluations by the Ontario Geological Survey

Download or read book Procedural Guidelines for Qualitative Mineral Potential Evaluations by the Ontario Geological Survey written by M. C. Rogers and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Documents the mineral potential evaluation procedure that the Ontario Geological Survey has developed and implemented for participation in land use planning assessments in areas where potentially conflicting land use activities have been or may be proposed. The procedure is also recommended for use by geological consultants performing mineral potential evaluations for municipalities and land use agencies. The procedure involves a subjective ranking of the mineral potential using objective, defined criteria. The region to be assessed is subdivided on the basis of geologic and metallogenic parameters, and the areas are ranked with respect to the occurrence of specific deposit types. The applicable geological, geophysical and/or geochemical, and economic criteria for each deposit type are each subjectively ranked and the ratings are combined in an overlapping circle scheme. Concludes with discussion of how the evaluation methodology can assist with the consideration of provincial interests in the municipal land use planning process under the 1990 Planning Act.
