Laid in is a letter from Miller to George A. Plimpton, dated January 20, 1933, in which Miller notes that the Lincoln Souvenir was "made expressly as a gift" for Plimpton. Also laid in is a letter providing a detailed description of the manuscript, a poem about the "Engagement Between the Monitor and Merrimac", and the August 1890 issue of Penman's Art Journal and Penman's Gazette, containing a biography of Miller and specimen of his work.
