Book Liar Liar

Download or read book Liar Liar written by Judi Curry and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2019-10-24 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liar, Liar: A Non-Fiction Account of Online Dating Experiences By: Judi Curry Judi is a retired educator that lost her husband in 2009 to lung cancer after 46 years of marriage. Married at seventeen, she had never lived on her own and after the pangs of loss numbed, she decided that she would like to find a full-time companion to spend the rest of her life with. The only problem was where would a 60+ year-old female go to find such companionship? Online dating seemed a viable answer, so she signed up with online dating services to meet that companion. Liar, Liar is a word for word accounting of the men she talked to over a period of four years. The wording of the communications has not been edited, nor changed, for to do so would have changed the communication drastically between them. Although each of the chapters are about the “scammers” she met, she did meet several men that were sincere and their stories are not part of the book because of that sincerity. At this point she is still looking for a companion, but not online.

Certainly gratitude is in order—but a relationship? Not on the table. Dr. Nathan Moore doesn’t have time for a relationship, especially not a complicated one. But her past threatens his career’s future, and their cultural differences are putting stress on the present. Can they build a love strong enough to heal both their hearts?

Book From Burma with Love

Download or read book From Burma with Love written by Stephen W. Reiss and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11-14 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Irv and Mary Reiss (aka Dad and Mom) wrote this book as two letters per day for fifteen months from late 1943 through March 1945. Friends and relatives added more letters to bring the total to nearly 1,000. Virtually all of their letters ended with "I love you very very much" and "I miss you very very much." It's easy to empathize with their frustrations and anxieties about being separated and worried, especially with the birth and nurturing of their first child Stephen (aka me) in June 1944. This book title of From Burma With Love is an understatement. Irv Reiss served in the US Army from June 27, 1941 until September 17, 1945 for a total of 4 years, 2 months, and 20 days. Foreign service in India and Burma (Myanmar) was 1 year, 1 month, and 23 days. The foreign service in Burma was very intense and is the heart of this book -- hence the name, From Burma With Love. Irv was a labor officer along the Ledo Road from August 28, 1944 until December 11, 1944. His job was to hire and feed and pay several thousand native laborers (and a few elephants) to help build that road from Ledo, India to Mongyu, Burma. Read his letter of October 7, 1944.

Book A Common Virtue

  • Author : James A Hawkins
  • Publisher : Naval Institute Press

  • ISBN : 1612517943
  • Pages : 241 pages

Download or read book A Common Virtue written by James A Hawkins and published by Naval Institute Press. This book was released on 2014-11-15 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Becoming a man is difficult—even in the best of circumstances—but when it must be done in 1968 with the Year of the Monkey set to explode onto the cities and battlefields of a war-torn Vietnam, it is only the very best who make the grade. A Common Virtue has the immediacy and punch of today’s fears as it draws on yesterday’s headlines. When the armies of Ho Chi Mihn push across the demilitarized zone on a scale never thought possible and simultaneously strike at hundreds of targets, American Marines are at the forefront—dependent on information from a special reconnaissance force that is the only thing that can stop Hanoi from using a New Year’s opportunity to seize the country. Unfolding against this background is the story of Marine Paul Jackson, the sole survivor of a hillside massacre. A sniper and reconnaissance innovator, his epic march through the annals of the horrific bureaucracy that is the U.S. military in 1968 is the heart of this story. As an eighteen-year-old Marine he learns at an early age what he must do to survive; what he must do to excel; and what he must do to fit into the most exclusive military fraternity in the world. A Common Virtue is about the other half of heroism, the part that pits a warrior against an American public that despises his uniform, against internal factions that brand him a “coward,” and against a beautiful woman who wants nothing more than for him to stay home and love her. It is about growing into manhood in a toxic America and a world gone mad. Tough choices, painful experiences, and an instinct for survival work to create a leader of legend. Exciting, historical, and far reaching, A Common Virtue is an ambitious and explosive creation; one that could only have been written by one who was there.
