He married his first wife Kate Wilson ca. 1858 in Saline Co., Missouri. They had two children and lived in Columbus, Indiana. Kate died and John married Louise Westfall 6 June 1868. John was the father of at least four known children. Descendants lived primarily in Indiana and elsewhere.
