Book Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer

Download or read book Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer written by Michael R. Meyer and published by . This book was released on 2000-04 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer is one of the most influential and widely read books on serious astrology published during the 20th century. It was an immediate success when first published in 1974, and since 1987 it has been regarded as the most highly prized and sought after out-of-print astrological classic. A handbook introduced astrology to a new generation of educated seekers turning to astrology not to know "what will happen and how it can be avoided if it's unpleasant" but to discover their innate potential and life purpose. Readers first exposed to serious astrology through this volume figure largely among today's leading astrologers and astrological writers. The volume not only changed the way we view astrology and what we expect from it, A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer forever changed the look and feel of astrological literature and horoscope graphics. It's concise format and presentation style has been emulated by numerous publications, and its entirely original horoscope graphics, first developed by the author during the 1960's, have been copied (unacknowledged) by countless astrological books, horoscope calculation services and astrology software developers. Founded upon the repeatedly proven premise that anyone can quickly learn the core principles of astrology and put them to use to improve ones life and relationships, A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer intentionally avoids the usual cookbook format in favor of exploring astrology's fundamental concepts and principles. In it and in his other works, such as The Astrology of Relationship, Michael R. Meyer demonstrates his unmatched ability to make astrology accessible to everyone.

Book The Astrology of Relationship

Download or read book The Astrology of Relationship written by Michael R. Meyer and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2000-01-20 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the branches of astrology, it is probably "synastry" – the technique of comparing the birth charts of two or more persons – that most fascinates those who practice astrology today. This is the first book to deal thoroughly with the basic purpose and techniques of chart comparison in clear, contemporary terms. Going beyond the simplistic popular methods which compare only sun signs, Michael Meyer's humanistic approach to synastry offers a responsible tool for understanding the mutually constructive aspects of any relationship. The Astrology of Relationship introduces the concept of "relationship" with a brief overview of its place in traditional astrological practice and its relation to certain Eastern Philosophical concepts. Explaining the significance of planets, houses and signs in determining personal compatibility, Meyer offers a step-by-step technique for chart comparison, including full instructions for casting and interpreting zodiacal contact, house contact, and composite charts. To demonstrate the methods described, the book concludes with synastric analyses of three important relationships in history: Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung; George Sand and Frederic Chopin; and founders of the Theosophical Society, Madame Blavatsky and Henry Olcott. Michael R. Meyer is the author of A Handbook for the Humanistic Astrologer and The Astrology of Change: Horary Astrology and its Humanistic Applications.

Classical astrological concepts are interwoven with key issues from modern psychological theorem to present a case for a client-centered approach to this most ancient and revered form of art and science. However, what makes this book truly unique, setting it apart from other astrological works, is its detailed analysis of the concept of "Vital Energy". This bi-polar energy matrix is not only the very foundation of life itself, but also the cornerstone upon which astrology is built. In a sense, astrology is life. It is a scholarly presentation, but one that is suitable for both layperson and profession astrologer alike.

Book The Twelve Astrological Houses

Download or read book The Twelve Astrological Houses written by Dane Rudhyar and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The material for THE TWELVE ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES: The Way of Creative Accomplishment, was written in 1943-44, immediately following THE ZODIAC as THE UNIVERSAL MATRIX. Like its companion book, it is one of Rudhyar's most accessible and easy-to-read works. It provides comprehensive descriptions of each of the ten astrological planets in each of the twelve astrological houses. In common with THE UNIVERSAL MATRIX, the astrological interpretations are more striking, psychological and critical than what we came to expect from Rudhyar during the second half of the 20th century. The electronic publication includes hyperlinks to the birth charts of dozens of interesting example nativities. This volume should not to be confused with Rudhyar's later works -- "THE ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES: The Spectrum of Individual Experience" -- which is currently out-of-print and available used at Amazon.com -- or with "The Twelve Houses as Problems We All Face." Some sample passages from THE TWELVE ASTROLOGICAL HOUSES: "Every personality is the child of an individual vision (Ascendant) and of a set of collective habits (second house), Rudhyar writes. The great person is one who uses such habits to demonstrate the vision - and thereby repolarizes them. The weak personality lets collective habits use the vision which thereby becomes distorted and materialized. Every personality is a field of integration for individual vision (first house) and collective habits (second house) - our inner life is very often a battlefield! It is in the third house that the issue . . . is determined; for it is the quality of the person's environment and of his mentality (largely conditioned by education) which will decide in the third house whether the fourth house factors (ego, home, and so on) will be energized preponderantly either by those developed in the first house or those belonging to the second house." PLANETS IN THE FIFTH HOUSE "When a strong planet or a group of planets are located in the fifth house of a natal chart this does not mean the native will necessarily be a particularly gifted artist, or a great lover, or the progenitor of many children, and so on. It indicates, rather, that matters related to this house will be insistently the focal point for the person's attention. The native will be involved in fifth house issues and experiences by apparent choice or by compulsion . . . They will create problems which will demand a solution. Problems however constitute opportunities for growth and for 'creative accomplishment' - thus the title of this series. Where there are no problems, the mind and will of the individual are not roused into operation . . ." MOON IN THE ELEVENTH HOUSE "The Moon in the eleventh house signifies a person highly sensitive to social moods and changes, who is often the mouthpiece of some great mass-movement seeking expression in a subterranean manner. The spiritual-occult systems proclaimed by Rudolph Steiner are much involved in personalized states of consciousness and dependent on personal 'revelations'. Indeed, it might be argued the 'revelations' of the seer could merely be projections of his collective, national and personal 'hopes and wishes' and fears and prejudices, rather than authentic and significantly interpreted revelations of spiritual realities. The traditional chart of Joan of Arc shows Moon conjunct Jupiter in the eleventh house - indeed an excellent symbol for one whose "Voices" saved a Kingdom . . ."

Book excerpt: (Originally published in 1975) What is astrology really: science, art, craft—or fraud? In a work of extraordinary range, an informed observer, Hans Holzer, has attempted to evaluate astrology's contribution to our lives. In the last decade, astrology has moved from a casual topic of conversation at cocktail parties to a major subject for serious discussion and academic inquiry. It has become, at its best, an important facet of human expression in the everyday life of millions and, at its worst, a vehicle for cold-blooded commercial exploitation. Astrology: What It Can Do for You includes: * interviews with a score of nationally known cosmic, mathematic, commercial, and esoteric astrologers * Gar Osten's remarkable chart of the United States, a sobering and challenging document that predicts the country's course through the year 2136 A.D. Soon to come: a thirty-year "period of trial," with the possibility of a major war or the beginning of the land breakup, * a list of simplified, easily understood astrological terms * a discussion of the possible influences of cosmic radiation on our lives * a realistic look at newspaper astrology columns * new, at-a-glance astrological charts showing the chief characteristics of the twelve birth signs of the zodiac and estimating their chances of getting along with each other While warning against excessive reliance on astrology, the author nevertheless sees it as a helpful tool in mapping the road ahead. And he tries to bring together the polarized camps of doubters and enthusiasts in a common quest: to grasp the nature of both the external and the internal universe.
