Download or read book A Guide to Commercial Finance written by Alfred G. Deacon Co and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Guide to Commercial Finance The purpose of this Book is to present in general, and, it is to be hoped, interesting terms, some of the topics that frequently come under the notice of business men; topics that, perhaps, may be of assistance both to those who are obtaining benefits through having their businesses already organised on up-to-date lines, and to those others who are endeavouring to secure those benefits. We have taken it for granted (and it seems too late in the day to do otherwise) that the reader admits that Finance and General Organisation are imperative in the successful running of a business; that these are, in fact, the keynotes of success. The large number of unsuccessful undertakings, through not recognising this fact, demonstrates the truth of our assertion. This book has not been written to particularise any class of business, nor has it been written as a text book for students; but it has been our endeavour to submit and enlarge upon principles that appertain to nearly all businesses, and which, we consider, work out the most successfully. The views stated herein are the outcome of our experience in connection with well-organised and properly-managed concerns. Book Introduction to Business Finance Classic Reprint

Download or read book Introduction to Business Finance Classic Reprint written by Bion B. Howard and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-09-09 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Introduction to Business Finance For some years now increasing interest has been evidenced among both academicians and practitioners in a new approach to the teaching of business finance. Both formal and informal conferences have been held on the subject at the annual meetings of the American Finance Association; various collegiate schools of business administration have experimented with new materials and courses; and quite a few finance texts introducing somewhat different approaches have appeared since the conclusion of the Second World War. The essence of the feeling among those who have expressed themselves in favor of a change from the traditional corporation finance course is that this approach is neither suited to the experience of the typical under graduate student nor consistent with the objectives of collegiate educa tion in business. The subject matter tends to be too sophisticated in na ture by being too concerned with the financing of large corporations. Also, by concentrating on the institutions and instruments of corporate finance, the standard texts and courses have been more introductory to the general subject of investments than to business finance. Since finance is one of the major administrative functions in business, along with production and marketing, it would seem reasonable to teach it from. The administrative standpoint. And since the beginning course in any subject should be generic in nature rather than specific, the sub ject matter should not be concerned with only one type of business organization, e.g., the corporation. The focal point should be that of financial management, the principles, institutions, and instruments of which might be transferred to any type of business enterprise and applied to any situation. Finally, such an approach is more consistent with that of other basic business courses and therefore is more easily compre hended by the student. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Financial and Commercial Crisis Considered The recurrence at the present time of one of those visitations of commercial and financial distress of which I have, during a long life, experienced so many, has once more forced upon the consideration of Parliament and the public the interminable subject of banking and circulation. Whatever may be the variance of opinions on other parts of the subject, it seems by all admitted, that the general condition of commerce is sound and satisfactory; and the truth of this position is sufficiently proved by the fact, that the intensity of the pressure has been attended with no unusual amount of failures or bankruptcies - the storm, however severe, has as yet cast few or no wrecks on shore. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Mathematics of Accounting and Finance In deciding what subjects to include the authors have been guided throughout by the desire to make the book directly useful in business offices, particularly to persons working in accounting and in the various lines of finance. There are many school texts on commercial arithmetic, but they are necessarily too rudi mentary to be of much aid to readers of mature experience. N 0 space has been given here to a consideration of the elementary and fundamental processes of mathematics. The effort has been, instead, to present material of more advanced nature which has not been generally available. This material falls into three general classes. The earlier chapters explain in considerable detail a number of short processes and practical suggestions that may be applied in routine computations of any sort. Particular attention has been given to the matter of adequate checks upon calculations. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Dawn of a New Era in Finance IF the question were to be asked: What has been the greatest affliction to the human race P Probably most people would answer war. The prevalence of this Opin ion is undoubtedly due to the fact, that wars are preceded by angry debates m the senate and elsewhere, and finally ushered in with the noisy ring of artillery and the loud shouts of advancing armies. But the ravages of war are usually confined to one or two countries and often times to small parts of countries. Then too, it is frequently, if in deed it is not generally the case that people not residing in the immediate vicinity of the contending armies remain prosperous during the whole conflict. As, for example, our own country during the late rebellion, and England in her fierce war with Napoleon. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
