Book Fault tolerant Cube Graphs and Coding Theory

Download or read book Fault tolerant Cube Graphs and Coding Theory written by International Business Machines Corporation. Research Division and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: "Hypercubes, meshes, tori and Omega networks are well known interconnection networks for parallel computers. The structure of those graphs can be described in a more general framework. The idea is to assume that every node in a graph with q[superscript l] nodes is represented by a unique string of l symbols over GF(q). The edges are specified by a set of offsets, those are vectors of length l over GF(q), where the two endpoints of an edge are an offset apart. Our main contribution is a general technique for tolerating edge faults by adding redundant edges. The redundant graph has the property that the original structure of the graph can be maintained in the presence of edge faults. The technique for adding the redundant edges utilizes constructions of error-correcting codes and generalizes existing ad-hoc techniques."

Book Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance

Download or read book Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance written by Tinghuai Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the rapid growth of integration scale of VLSI chips and the present need for reliable computers in space exploration, fault diagnosis and fault toleran ce have become more important than before, and hence reveal a lot of interest ing topics which attract many researchers to make a great number of contribu tions to this field. In recent years, many new and significant results have been achieved. A quick scan over the proceedings of the conferences on fault tolerant computing and design automation as well as on testing will convince the reader of that. But unfortunately these achievements have not been entire ly reflected in the textbooks, so that there seems to be a gap for the new researcher who already has the basic knowledge and wants to begin research in this area. As a remedy for this deficiency, this book is intended for begin ners, especially graduate students, as a textbook which will lead them to the frontier of some branches of the fault-tolerant computing field. The first chapter introduces the four-valued logic B4 and its applica tions. In 1966 Roth first proposed this four-valued logic as a technique to generate tests for logical circuits, but this work did not concern the mathe matical basis of B4 itself.

Book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques

Download or read book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques written by Wei Song and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asynchronous On-Chip Networks and Fault-Tolerant Techniques is the first comprehensive study of fault-tolerance and fault-caused deadlock effects in asynchronous on-chip networks, aiming to overcome these drawbacks and ensure greater reliability of applications. As a promising alternative to the widely used synchronous on-chip networks for multicore processors, asynchronous on-chip networks can be vulnerable to faults even if they can deliver the same performance with much lower energy and area compared with their synchronous counterparts – faults can not only corrupt data transmission but also cause a unique type of deadlock. By adopting a new redundant code along with a dynamic fault detection and recovery scheme, the authors demonstrate that asynchronous on-chip networks can be efficiently hardened to tolerate both transient and permanent faults and overcome fault-caused deadlocks. This book will serve as an essential guide for researchers and students studying interconnection networks, fault-tolerant computing, asynchronous system design, circuit design and on-chip networking, as well as for professionals interested in designing fault-tolerant and high-throughput asynchronous circuits.

Book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error correcting Codes

Download or read book Applied Algebra Algebraic Algorithms and Error correcting Codes written by Teo Mora and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1989-05-23 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1988, for the first time, the two international conferences AAECC-6 and ISSAC'88 (International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation, see Lecture Notes in Computer Science 358) have taken place as a Joint Conference in Rome, July 4-8, 1988. The topics of the two conferences are in fact widely related to each other and the Joint Conference presented a good occasion for the two research communities to meet and share scientific experiences and results. The proceedings of the AAECC-6 are included in this volume. The main topics are: Applied Algebra, Theory and Application of Error-Correcting Codes, Cryptography, Complexity, Algebra Based Methods and Applications in Symbolic Computing and Computer Algebra, and Algebraic Methods and Applications for Advanced Information Processing. Twelve invited papers on subjects of common interest for the two conferences are divided between this volume and the succeeding Lecture Notes volume devoted to ISSACC'88. The proceedings of the 5th conference are published as Vol. 356 of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science.

Book Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Interconnection Networks written by J.-C. Bermond and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the articles in this book deal with static or point-to-pointInterconnection Networks. In particular, new constructions are proposed basedon different tools from discrete mathematics. Many new records have beenestablished in the table of the maximum number of vertices of graphs withmaximum degree &Dgr; and diameter D. Properties of thesenetworks (and of more classical ones) are analyzed in many of the otherpapers. About 40% of the articles deal with fault tolerance orvulnerability properties using either combinatorial tools or probabilisticones.

Topics and features: introduces the fundamental concepts in interconnection networks in multi-processor systems, including issues of blocking, scalability, and crossbar networks; presents a classification of interconnection networks, and provides information on recognizing each of the networks; examines the challenges of blocking and scalability, and analyzes the different solutions that have been proposed; reviews a variety of different approaches to improve fault tolerance in multistage interconnection networks; discusses the scalable crossbar network, which is a non-blocking interconnection network that uses small-sized crossbar switches as switching elements. This invaluable work will be of great benefit to students, researchers and practitioners interested in computer networks, parallel processing and reliability engineering. The text is also essential reading for course modules on interconnection network design and reliability.

Book Principles and Practices of Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Principles and Practices of Interconnection Networks written by William James Dally and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-03-06 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the greatest challenges faced by designers of digital systems is optimizing the communication and interconnection between system components. Interconnection networks offer an attractive and economical solution to this communication crisis and are fast becoming pervasive in digital systems. Current trends suggest that this communication bottleneck will be even more problematic when designing future generations of machines. Consequently, the anatomy of an interconnection network router and science of interconnection network design will only grow in importance in the coming years. This book offers a detailed and comprehensive presentation of the basic principles of interconnection network design, clearly illustrating them with numerous examples, chapter exercises, and case studies. It incorporates hardware-level descriptions of concepts, allowing a designer to see all the steps of the process from abstract design to concrete implementation. Case studies throughout the book draw on extensive author experience in designing interconnection networks over a period of more than twenty years, providing real world examples of what works, and what doesn't. Tightly couples concepts with implementation costs to facilitate a deeper understanding of the tradeoffs in the design of a practical network. A set of examples and exercises in every chapter help the reader to fully understand all the implications of every design decision.
