Download or read book Handbook of Complex Analysis written by Reiner Kuhnau and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-12-09 with total page 876 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geometric Function Theory is that part of Complex Analysis which covers the theory of conformal and quasiconformal mappings. Beginning with the classical Riemann mapping theorem, there is a lot of existence theorems for canonical conformal mappings. On the other side there is an extensive theory of qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings, concerning mainly a prior estimates, so called distortion theorems (including the Bieberbach conjecture with the proof of the Branges). Here a starting point was the classical Scharz lemma, and then Koebe's distortion theorem. There are several connections to mathematical physics, because of the relations to potential theory (in the plane). The Handbook of Geometric Function Theory contains also an article about constructive methods and further a Bibliography including applications eg: to electroxtatic problems, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane). · A collection of independent survey articles in the field of GeometricFunction Theory · Existence theorems and qualitative properties of conformal and quasiconformal mappings · A bibliography, including many hints to applications in electrostatics, heat conduction, potential flows (in the plane).

Download or read book Combined Methods for Elliptic Equations with Singularities Interfaces and Infinities written by Zi Cai Li and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book the author sets out to answer two important questions: 1. Which numerical methods may be combined together? 2. How can different numerical methods be matched together? In doing so the author presents a number of useful combinations, for instance, the combination of various FEMs, the combinations of FEM-FDM, REM-FEM, RGM-FDM, etc. The combined methods have many advantages over single methods: high accuracy of solutions, less CPU time, less computer storage, easy coupling with singularities as well as the complicated boundary conditions. Since coupling techniques are essential to combinations, various matching strategies among different methods are carefully discussed. The author provides the matching rules so that optimal convergence, even superconvergence, and optimal stability can be achieved, and also warns of the matching pitfalls to avoid. Audience: The book is intended for both mathematicians and engineers and may be used as text for advanced students.

Download or read book Schwarz Christoffel Mapping written by Tobin A. Driscoll and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-06-20 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive look at the Schwarz-Christoffel transformation, including its history and foundations, practical computation, common and less common variations, and many applications in fields such as electromagnetism, fluid flow, design and inverse problems, and the solution of linear systems of equations. It is an accessible resource for engineers, scientists, and applied mathematicians who seek more experience with theoretical or computational conformal mapping techniques. The most important theoretical results are stated and proved, but the emphasis throughout remains on concrete understanding and implementation, as evidenced by the 76 figures based on quantitatively correct illustrative examples. There are over 150 classical and modern reference works cited for readers needing more details. There is also a brief appendix illustrating the use of the Schwarz-Christoffel Toolbox for MATLAB, a package for computation of these maps.

Download or read book Computational Methods and Function Theory written by Stephan Ruscheweyh and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-22 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume is devoted to the interaction of modern scientific computation and classical function theory. Many problems in pure and more applied function theory can be tackled using modern computing facilities: numerically as well as in the sense of computer algebra. On the other hand, computer algorithms are often based on complex function theory, and dedicated research on their theoretical foundations can lead to great enhancements in performance. The contributions - original research articles, a survey and a collection of problems - cover a broad range of such problems.

Download or read book Antarctic Peninsula Region of the Southern Ocean written by Eugene G. Morozov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is based on results from the Russian expedition in the region of the Antarctic Peninsula and Powell Basin in the northern part of the Weddell Sea, as well as on the review of earlier research in the region. The main goal of the research was to collect the newest data and study the physical properties and ecology of this key region of the Southern Ocean. Data analysis is supplemented with numerical modeling of the atmosphere-ocean interaction and circulation in the adjacent region, including research on rogue waves. The focus of the study was the Antarctic Circumpolar Current, currents and water properties in the Bransfield Strait and Antarctic Sound, properties of seawater, currents, ecosystem and biological communities in the Powell Basin of the northwestern Weddell Sea, and their variations. An attempt is made to reveal the role of various components of the Antarctic environment in the formation of biological productivity and maintenance of the Antarctic krill population. This is especially important as in the last decades the Antarctic environment has experienced significant changes related to the global climatic trends.
Download or read book Swift Analysis of Civil Engineering Structures Using Graph Theory Methods written by Ali Kaveh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book proposes and validates a number of methods and shortcuts for frugal engineers, which will allow them to significantly reduce the computational costs for analysis and reanalysis and, as a result, for structural design processes. The need for accuracy and speed in analyzing structural systems with ever-tighter design tolerances and larger numbers of elements has been relentlessly driving forward research into methods that are capable of analyzing structures at a reasonable computational cost. The methods presented are of particular value in situations where the analysis needs to be repeated hundreds or even thousands of times, as is the case with the optimal design of structures using different metaheuristic algorithms. Featuring methods that are not only applicable to skeletal structures, but by extension also to continuum models, this book will appeal to researchers and engineers involved in the computer-aided analysis and design of structures, and to software developers in this field. It also serves as a complement to previous books on the optimal analysis of large-scale structures utilizing concepts of symmetry and regularity. Further, its novel application of graph-theoretical methods is of interest to mathematicians.
